Mr. James Curt Wheat, a native of this county, a son of "Long" Zach Wheat, died at Matoon, Ill., on the 21st inst. [i.e., April 21st], a victim of inflammatory rheumatism. He was 71 years old. He served in the Federal army during the Civil War, and entered service from this county.

 (James Curtis Wheat, the son of Zacharian Davis Wheat & Amanda Morrison Wheat, was born 25 March 1838 Adair Co. Ky., and on the date and at the place noted above. He married Adair Co. Ky., 24 April 1870 Rosanna McGinnis; she was bortn 20 Nov. 1853 Adair Co. Ky., and  died 26 Jan. 1941 Detroit, Mich. During the Civil War, James served in Co. K, 21st Ky. Volunteer Infantry, Union.)
