Simon Dunbar Succumbs In Washington State

Mrs. W.I. Ingram received a message last week stating that her brother, Mr. Simon Dunbar, had died following a serious eye operation. Pneumonia developed and his death occurred at a hospital in Pateros.

Mr. Dunbar was born and reared near Columbia, being the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Dunbar, prominent Adair County citizens. He had lived in Washington at the home of a brother, Virgil Dunbar, for a number of years.

The funeral service was held at the Pateros Methodist Church on Friday, with interment in the City Cemetery.

Besides the brother with whom he made his home, the deceased is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Omeria Jeffries, Brooksville, Fla.; Mrs. J. Bennett, Eugene, Oregon; Mrs. W.I. Ingram, and two other brothers, Dr. O.S. Dunbar, Campbellsville, and Mr. Ben Dunbar, Belgrade, Calif.

Virgil M. Epperson Dies In Illinois

Columbia relatives have received word of the death of Virgil M. Epperson, 78, at his home in Chenoa, Ill., on June 7. He had been in declining health since last fall.

Mr. Epperson was born and reared in the Montpelier community of Adair County and was son of the late John J. and Elizabeth Morris Epperson. He left here in 1918 and bought a farm near Chenoa, where he successfully engaged in farming until failing health forced him to retire.

His wife, Mrs. Patsy Montgomery Epperson, died several years ago and he is survived by two daughters, Miss Ada Epperson and Mrs. Petrl [sic; should be Pearl] Jontry, and two sons, Leslie and Walter Epperson, all of Chenoa.

The deceased was an uncle of Morris Epperson, Miss Lula Epperson, Mrs. Paul Marshall and Mrs. W.R. Conover, of this city.

Funeral services and burial were in Chenoa on Sunday, June 9.

Services At Concord For Mrs. Sarah Young

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at Concord Church for Mrs. Sarah Young, who died on Friday, June 28, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. U.V. Garrett, near Chicago. Rev. Noah Page conducted the service and burial was in the Turner Cemetery.

Mrs. Young was the widow of Mr. John Young and they formerly lived at Fairplay.

W.E. Bryant Accidentally Killed In Cincinnati

William Edon Bryant, 24, a veteran of World war II, formerly of the Bethelham section, was accidentally killed in Cincinnati early last week.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bryant, a sister, Mrs. Shaepherd, and three brothers, Hubert, Oris and Elvin Bryant.

A military funeral was held at Freedom Baptist Church on Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Otis Wolford and members of the American Legion Post of Russell Springs. Bryant had served six years in the army, three years being spent overseas.

Rites On Wednesday For Mrs. W.R. Williams

Mrs. Maggie Campbell Williams died on Monday, July 29, in Roberts, Ill., and the remains were brought to Columbia on Tuesday to the Grissom Funeral Home to await funeral services and burial on Wednesday.

Mrs. Williams was the widow of W.R. Williams, who died several years ago. She resided near Columbia on the Campbellsville Highway but since the death of her husband has spent most of her time in Illinois with her children. She was devout member of the Christian Church.

She is survived by one son, Robert Williams, of Roberts, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Hattie Hardwick, of Kankakee, Ill.; Mrs. O.C. Cundiff, of Roberts, Ill., Mrs. Ed Triplett and Mrs. Alva Bennett, of Loda, Ill.; one brother, Joe Campbell, of Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. Joe G. Knifley, of Knifley, Mrs. Welby Williams, of Eunice, and Mrs. W.O. Pelly, of Rockwell, City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Christian Church, conducted by Rev. L.R. Fugit and Rev. H.J. Conover. Interment was in the Smith family cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas A. Murrell, Jr. Dies In Cambridge, Mass.

Mrs. Martha Chapman Murrell, 30, died suddenly Saturday, July 27, in cambridge, Mass. She was the wife of Thomas A. Murrell, son of Mrs. Thomas A. Murrell, of Campbellsville, and the late Judge Murrell. She had visited in Columbia on several occasions.

She is survived by her husband and father, G.K. Chapman, of Florida, formerly of Owensboro.

Funeral services and burial were in Owensboro on Wednesday, July 31.

Mrs. Patra Hamon Dies At Home In Chester, W. Va.

Mrs. Patra Hamon, wife of the late William H. Hamon, died September 16, at her home in Chester, W. Va. Mrs. Hamon was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Sanders, of Montpelier, Adair County.

She is survived by one son, Reno P. Hamon, of Chester, W. Va.; a daughter, Mrs. James Leslie, of Chester, W. Va.; three brothers, L.M. and Eldridge Sanders, of Columbia, and Charles Sanders, of McMinniville, Oregon; a sister, Miss Effie Sanders, of Columbia. She was a member of the Glensfork Christian Church.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H.J. Conover, pastor of the Cane Valley Christian Church, at the Grissom Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19. Interment was at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Messrs. T.E. Jeffries, W.E. Dudley, Paul Aaron, Clarence Taylor, Welby Hamon and Jimmy Blair.

Mrs. James W. Leslie and Mr. Reno Hamon were here for the funeral and burial.

Rites On Wednesday For Mrs. W.R. Williams

Native of Adair Dies In Georgia

George C, Sublett, 55, was killed suddenly early Saturday night in a traffic accident near his home in Milledgeville, Ga., where he had been an instructor in the Georgia Military College for the past four years, holding the rank of Major.

He was a native of Coburg community, Adair County, and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James T. Sublett, prominent citizens of that section. He was an active member of the Methodist Church, having professed faith early in life.

Major Sublett is survived by two sisters, Mrs. James A. Hale, Hernando, Fla., and Mrs. Don Phillips, of Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Branch and Chester Sublett, and several nieces and nephews.

Major G.R. Taggart, a close friend, who was with Major Sublett when the accident occurred, accompanied the remains here and attended the final rites.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Cane Valley Christian Church, conducted by Rev. J.W. Lewis, assisted by Rev. H.J. Conover. Interment was in the Cane Valley Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Tennie Rice, June Hancock, Mont Page, G.R. Taggart, Don Hale and Alfred Sublett.* * * * * * *

Mrs. Vern Taylor Dies At Indiana Residence

Mrs. Victoria Sandusky Taylor, 71, died suddenly at her home in Greenwood, Ind., Saturday afternoon, October 26. Although Mrs. Taylor had not been well for about eight years, the news of her death was a shock to the members of her family and her host of friends.

A daughter of the late J.S. and Joanna Sandusky, Mrs. Taylor was born and reared in Adair County and had a wide connection in this section.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. Vern Taylor, and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Eva Wilkerson, Mrs. N.B. Kelsay, Mrs. Will Powell, C.H. Sandusky, W.H. Sandusky, all of this city, Joe Sandusky and Frank Sandusky, of Harrodsburg, John Sandusky, of Wilmore. A daughter preceded her in death several years ago.

The funeral was held at two o'clock on Tuesday afternoon at the Christian Church with interment in the Greenwood City Cemetery.

All of Mrs. Taylor's sisters and brothers left early Monday morning for Greenwood to be present for the funeral services.

Caldwell Rites Set For Friday

Mrs. Mary Tupman Caldwell was found dead in the basement of her home in the Milltown community by her husband, Rollin Caldwell, prominent farmer, near noon on Tuesday [October 29.] Death was caused by a self-inflicted rifle wound in the heart.

Mrs. Caldwell had been in ill health for some time and news of her death came as a shock to her wide circle of relatives and friends.

She was born and reared in the Cane Valley section and was a daughter of Mrs. Martha Callison Tupman and the late T.T. Tupman. She was an active member of the Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband, mother, a daughter, Mrs. A.G. Stroup, one sister, Mrs. Howard Russell, of Absher, and two brothers, J.T. Tupman, of Cane Valley, and Robert N. Tupman, Columbia, Route 1.

Funeral services will be held at the Milltown Church at 10:30 Friday morning, conducted by Rev. H.J. Conover. Interment will be in the Columbia Cemetery.

The active pallbearers will be: Messrs. Norris Tupman, Owen Tupman, Joe Russell Barbee, Willie Banks, George Banks and J.T. Tupman. Honorary pallbearers: Messrs. G.A. Atkins, Frank Cobb, S.T. Davis, Fred Davis, D.O. Eubank, Chapman Dohoney, E.L. Wooten, J.C. Shirley, J.H. Hatcher and Roy Garrison.

[The Kentucky Death Records Index gives Mrs. Caldwell's age as 59 years. Her daughter's name was Martha E. the November 6 edition of the News noted "Among those attending the funeral service for Mrs. Rollin Caldwell held on Friday were: mr. and Mrs. James A. Caldwell, Cincinnati; Mr. Owen Tupman, Louisville; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Vaughn, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Callison, Mr. and Mrs. S.B. Coppock, Mrs. W.S. Griffin, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Miller, and Mrs. John H. Miller, Campbellsville; Miss Susie K. Watson, Dallas, Tex., and Mrs. W.E. McWhorter, Mannsville.]

Native of Adair County Is Killed By Train

Mrs. Roxie Moore Henderson, 65, of New Berlin, Ill., formerly of Adair County, was struck and killed by a train near her home at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, October 22.

She is survived by one son, Malcom Henderson, and a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Wake, both of New Berlin; two brothers, Curtis & Shelby Tarter, both of Gradyville, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. Jane England, Keltner, Mrs. Lola Kent, Pickett, and Miss Myrtle Tarter, Gradyville; three grandchildren, Dorothy May Henderson, Doris and Linda Wake, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, at Vancil Funeral Home, Springfield, Ill., and interment was at Woodwreath Cemetery, Island Grove, Rev. Charles B. Tupper officiating.

Native of Milltown Dies In Trenton, Texas

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. J.W. Earnhart, 83, on Tuesday, October 29, at her home in Trenton, Texas, following a several months illness.

Mrs. Earnhart will be remembered here as the former Miss Addie Wilmore, daughter of the late Milton and Betty McLarry Wilmore. She was born and reared in the Milltown community and taught school several years in Adair County before moving to Texas. She married J.W. Earnhart February 22, 1888, and he died in June, 1924. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by five children, R.W. Earnhart, of Albuquerque, N. Mex.; Oscar E. Earnhart, of Oklahoma; Miss Avis Earnhart, Mrs. Paul McCorston and Mrs. Clayton Messick, all of Texas; a twin brother, Luther M. Wilmore, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Shirley, both of Bogard, Mo.

Funeral services and burial were held at Trenton, Texas.

The deceased was a cousin of Mrs. Allen Walker, of this place.

Native of Pellyton Succumbs In Iowa

William Owen Pelley, 71, a native of Adair County, died on Sunday, November 3, at the Lutheran Hospital, Fort Dodge, Iowa.

He was a son of the late James Carter and Mary Jane Pelley, and was born at Pellyton.

He married Miss Nannie Bet Campbell at Pellyton January 11, 1893, and to this union two children were born, Mrs. Edith Giggenberg and John Carter Pelley, both of Rockwell City, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Pelley moved to Iowa in 1913. He was a successful farmer and member of Modern Woodmen. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Rockwell City Presbyterian Church on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Arthur Mortenson, and interment was in Rosehill Cemetery.

Mr. Travis O. Morton, of Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Hattie Hardwick, of Kankakee, Ill., Mrs. O.C. Cundiff, of Roberts, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. T.J. McNelis, Paxton, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Morton, Burbank, Calif., Messrs. Gilbert Morton and Elmer Pelley, of Maud, Okla., were among those who attended the funeral from a distance.

Charlie Wilborn Dies In Ann Arbor Hospital

Word has been received here of the death of Charlie Wilborn in an Ann Arbor, Mich., hospital on October 15.

He was born and reared in the Glensfork section of Adair County and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Wilborn. He is survived by a son, Harold Wilborn, and two grandchildren, of Flora, Ill., and one brother, Bob Wilborn, of Texas.

The deceased spent a winter here in the home of Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Blair two years ago and he has many Columbia friends who will be grieved to hear of his death.

Funeral services and burial were held in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Mrs. Nina C. Todd Died In Columbus, Ohio

Mrs. Nina C. Todd died Monday, January 3, 1949, at the home of her son, Dr. F.C. Todd, Columbus, Ohio, after a long illness.

She was a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. W.F. Cartwright and was well-known in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at the Stotts & Phelps Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with interment in the City Cemetery.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. G.P. Smythe, Bradenton, Fla.; Mrs. Solon Robinson, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Mary Garnett, this city.

Rites On Thursday For Mrs. Nina Todd

Mrs. Nina C. Todd, the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. W.F. Cartwright, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, January 3, at the home of her son, Dr. F.C. Todd, Supervisor of Industrial Physics at Battelle Institute, Columbus, Ohio. She had been ill for several months.

Mrs. Todd was born January 17, 1879 in Albany, Ky. She received an BA degree from the National Normal School at Lebanon, Ohio, in 1901. She married the same year to B.W. Todd, of Madison County, Ky., and moved to Western Oklahoma.

Mrs. Todd had many activities but was particularly interested in the Christian Church, civic organizations and the D.A.R. Her interest in civic affairs led to her active participation in political organizations and was a delegate to the National Convention in 1940.

She is survived by her son and her three sisters, Mrs. S.L. Robinson, of Pikeville, Tenn., Mrs. G.P. Smythe, of Bradenton, Fla., and Mrs. J.R. Garnett, of Columbia.

Mrs. Todd's body was brought to Columbia for interment in the family plot in the City Cemetery. Funeral services were held at the Stotts & Phelps Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, conducted by Rev. L.M. Miller, pastor of the Christian Church.

The pallbearers were: Messrs. Garnett Young, Charles Garnett, George Staples, Willie Nell, Charlie Hood, and Doc Walker.

C.C. Henson Dies In Chicago, Ill.

Christopher Coffey Henson, 94 years of age, prominent retired farmer of this county, died at the home of his son, Joseph Henson, in Chicago, Ill., January 8.

Mr. Henson was born in Casey County but moved to Adair County at an early age, where he resided until the past few months. He was a highly respected citizen with a wide circle of friends throughout this section. He became a member of the Christian Church when a young man and served as an Elder of the Cane Valley Church for many years.

He married Miss Martha E. Henson on May 6, 1875 and they had twelve children. Four of the children survive, R.H. Henson, Cane Valley, Mrs. Bettie Wheeler, of Texas, Mrs. L.R. Rice, of Coburg, and Joseph Henson, of Chicago.

In November, 1923, he married Mrs. Lucy Stotts Campbell, who died a few years ago. Several stepchildren survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cane Valley Christian Church, conducted by Rev. H.J. Conover. Interment was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Prior to bringing the remains to Columbia a brief service was held at the Sobiest Funeral Home, in Chicago.

The pallbearers were: J.M. Hancock, Banks Hancock, Perry Cofer, John Smith, Wiley Feece and Finis Cundiff. Honorary pallbearers were: Bingham Moore, U.S Harmon and Guy Farris.

Former Adair Citizen Dies In Indiana

William W. Wilson, native of Adair County, passed away at his home in Jeffersonville, Ind., Thursday, December 23. Funeral services were held at 1:00 o'clock Sunday at Coots Chapel. Interment was in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alta Dooley Wilson; father, John Wilson, Taylor County, and brother, Charles Wilson, of Milltown.

Pallbearers were; Gordon Slinker, Curtis Reece, O.D. Page, Paul Page, Donald Dooley and Basil Dooley.

Child Dies In Chicago

Veronica Lynn Gibson, two months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas S. Gibson, died January 6, in Chicago, Ill.

The remains were brought to the Grissom Funeral Home on Saturday and the funeral was conducted at Chance with interment in the Burbridge Cemetery.

Hillery England Dies Suddenly In Chicago

Mrs. McKinley Jessie received word that her brother-in-law, Hillery England, of Chicago, Il., had died suddenly in a Chicago hospital on Sunday as a result of a heart attack.

Mr. England was born and reared in Metcalfe County and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.D. England. He was well-known in Adair, where he had a number of friends and relatives.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Viola Patton England; three children, Marlene, Lois and Nathan England; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Reliford, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Cox Estes, Gradyville, and Mrs. T.F. Janes, Toria, and two brothers, W.C. England and Arvin England, of Estes.

Funeral services and burial were held in Chicago at 10:00 this morning.

Infant Dies In Indiana

An infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Whitekettle, of new Castle, Ind., succumbed on Sunday. The remains were brought to the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George McLean, in Columbia, where services were held Tuesday afternoon. Interment was in the City Cemetery.

Mrs. McLean left for New Castle immediately after the funeral to be with her daughter, who is very ill.

Mrs. Katherine Wilson Dies In LaFayette, Ind.

Mrs. Katherine Wilson, 22, of LaFayette, Ind., died Tuesday morning after being ill for a year. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Whitlock, of LaFayette, formerly of Columbia.

She is survived by her parents; husband, Ernest Wilson; son, Ernest Wilson, Jr., daughter, Mary Edith, two brothers, Pvt. James Whitlock, of Kelly Field, Texas, and Pvt. Lloyd Whitlock, of Fort Knox.

The remains will be brought to Stotts & Phelps Funeral Home Thursday morning and funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Dr. W.H. Moody. Interment will be in the City Cemetery.

Mrs. Caroline A. Rice Dies In Spaulding, Ill.

Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline A. Rice, 67, of Spaulding, Ill., who died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Ellinger & Kunz Funeral Home in Spaulding. Rev. E.E. Bollinger officiated and burial was in Indian Point cemetery, near Athens, Ill.

Mrs. Rice was born in Greenview, Ill., August 10, 1881. She moved to Spaulding two years ago. On December 23, 1903, she married A.W. Rice, a native of Adair County. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Allie Bryant, Rochester, Ill.; Mrs. Susan Beatty, Williamsville, Ill., and Mrs. Ruby Beatty, of Spaulding; one son, Fred, of Spaulding; one brother, Fred Humphress, two sisters, Miss Ella Humphress and Mrs. Sylvia Walker, all of Adair County.

Mrs. Lousettie Bradshaw Buried Here Friday

Mrs. Lousettie Bradshaw, 65, died on April 5, at the home of her nephews, Clyde and William Murrell, at Springfield, Ill.

The remains were brought to the Grissom Funeral Home, where services were held at 2:00 o'clock on Friday afternoon, with Rev. Robert Altman in charge. Interment was in the City Cemetery.

Mrs. Bradshaw, a native of Adair County, was the widow of Gallatin Bradshaw.

Pallbearers were: Arthur Bradshaw, Fred Murrell, Enos bell, William Murrell, Charlie Murrell and Paul Hawkins.

Burt Browning Dies At Missouri Home

Burt Browning  passed away at his home in Tootter Township, Mo., at 5:30 Thursday morning, April 28. He was a native of Kentucky but moved there in 1891.

Mr. Browning was born November 6, 1873, the son of Sherwood Williams and Phoebe Harriett Shirley* Browning He was one of seven children. At the age of 17, he moved to Missouri, where he lived for the rest of his life.

On February 12, 1902, he married Miss Minnie Shinn and four children were born to this union: Mrs. W.L. Dickerson, of Kansas City; Charles Henry Browning, of Tulsa, Okla.; Sara Browning, of the home, and J.O. Browning of Carrollton [Mo.]

Surviving are his wife; five grandchildren, Mrs. Charles Benedict and Gary Dickerson, of Kansas City; Diana and Janice Browning, of Tulsa; and Michael Browning, of Carrollton; two brothers, C.T. Browning, of Columbia, Ky., and S.W. Browning, of Leavenworth, Kansas.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and always followed farming as an occupation.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, at the Stanley and Gibson Funeral Home. Rev. G.E. Pennell was in charge of the services and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Marie B. Woodford Dies In Seattle, Wash.

Mrs. E.J. Bennett received a message Sunday stating that Mrs. Marie Bennett Woodford, daughter of the late E.J. Bennett, died on Sunday, May 22, in Seattle, Wash. She is survived by her husband, Ken G. Woodford, and two daughters.

Mrs. Woodford visited her father, and Mrs. Bennett in Columbia in 1936, and will be remembered by many.

Maureen Myers Dies In Grand Rapids, Mich.

Maureen Myers, 18 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Myers, Grand Rapids, Mich., died Sunday, June 26, after a long illness. Funeral services were held on Tuesday.

Mrs. Myers was formerly Miss Jean Miller, daughter of J.P. Miller, of this city.

Mrs. Talbott Booher, Mrs. J.B. Horton, Miss Susan Miller, Messrs. J.P., Russell and Otha Miller attended the funeral.

Calvin Fortune, Jr. Dies In Indianapolis

Calvin Fortune, Jr., 24, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Fortune, Sr., in Indianapolis, Ind., on May 26, following a short illness. he lived in Columbia with his parents when a boy and attended school here. His mother was Miss Annie Fletcher, daughter of Mrs. Athen Fletcher, of this county.

Mrs. J.A. Williams Dies In California

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. J.A. Williams in San Jose, Calif., on Thursday, June30. She had been ill for several months.

Mrs. Williams was a native of Adair County and belonged to a prominent family. Prior to her marriage she was Miss Sallie Jones, daughter of the late J.T. and Ann Murrell Jones, of the Montpelier community. She married J.A. Williams, also of this county and a son of the late Rev. Z.T. Williams. They had resided in Hutchison, Kansas, for thirty years. She was taken to California several months ago, where her only child, Miss Catherine Williams, resides.

Mrs Williams is survived by her husband, daughter and two sisters, Mrs. O.A. Taylor and Mrs. J.P. Clayton, both of Columbia.

Funeral services and burial were held in San Jose, where her husband and daughter will make their home. (The California death index gives her birthdate as February 13, 1884.)

Mrs. Josephine Dye Succumbs In Tennessee

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dye were called to Camden, Tenn., early Tuesday morning of last week on account of the death of his mother, Mrs. Josephine Dye. Herman Dye, Jr., and family, of McMinnville, Tenn., met them in Nashville and they made the rest of the trip by automobile, returning home Thursday afternoon.

Native Of Adair County Succumbs In Illinois

James Herbert Garrison, 54, died at 10:00 p.m. Monday, July 4, at his residence in Pennsylvania township, Mason County, Illinois, following an illness of four months.

A native of Adair County, Mr. Garrison was born June 5, 1895, a son of Andrew and Betty Garmon Garrison, and was married to Mattie Pollard in Columbia, Ky., September 3, 1911. They moved to Illinois in December, 1926.

Surviving are his wife and ten children: Mrs. Marie Rusk, Mrs. Flora Mae Gunterman, Mrs. Mabel Gunterman and Henry Garrison, all of Mason City; Mrs. Reba Null, of Pekin; Mrs. Kathryn Rock, Easton; Sgt. James Garrison, of Ft. Leavenworth, Kan.; Betty, Dorothy and Noel Garrison, at home. He also leaves three brothers, Clark Garrison, of Plymouth, Ind.; John Garrison, of Campbellsville, Ky.; and Roy Garrison, of Columbia, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Powers, Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Anna Powers, of Brownstown, Ind., and 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 7, 1t 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church, in Easton, Ill. Rev. Otto Richardson, Decatur, and Rev. Raymond DeLaughter, pastor of the Red Oak United Brethren Church, officiated and burial was in Easton Cemetery.

Mr. Roy Garrison, Mrs. Annie Powers and Mrs. Emma Powers, also two nephews of the deceased, Leroy Powers, of Louisville, Gene Powers, of Brownstown, Ind., attended the funeral.

T.F. Keeton Succumbs In Dallas Hospital

The following death notice was taken from The Bonham Daily Favorite, published on Wednesday, July 6:

Funeral services for T.F. Keeton, 76, well-known Fannin County truck farmer who died in Medical Arts Hospital, Dallas, Tuesday, have been announced for 4:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Salzman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Wild, Wise directing.

Mr. Keeton was born September 23, 1873, in Columbia, Adair County, Ky., and came to Fannin County in 1888. He resided in the Corinth community until 35 years ago when he moved to Bonham.

Survivors are his wife; five sons, Clarence Keeton, Ivanhoe; Claude, Roy and Lenrose Keeton, of Lubbock; Finis Keeton, Bonham; three daughters, Mrs. M.A. Hughes, Lubbock; Mrs. John Hamlin, of Tennessee; Mrs. Reed Henderson, Longview; a brother, W.F. Keeton, of Bonham; three sisters, Mrs. Curlee Forbes, Lubbock; Mrs. Maude Caraway, Bonham; Mrs. Donnie Haden, Negaral; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Native of Adair County Succumbs In Florida

Word has been received here of the death of Ben F. Flowers on June 3, at his home in Florida.

Mr. Flowers was born in Adair County in 1870 and belonged to a prominent family, being a son of the late Tom and Lou Staples Flowers. He is survived by a brother, Charlie Flowers, of Paducah. Numbers of relatives live here.

Funeral services and burial were held in Florida, where he lived for many years.

L.L. Bennett Succumb In Illinois Hospital

L.L. Bennett, of Piper City, Ill., died Wednesday, July 20, in Fairbury Hospital after a short illness.

He was born near Clinton, Mo., September 23, 1885, and came to Columbia at the age of six years, where he lived until 1920 when he went to Illinois to make his home and had resided there since.

Mr. Bennett was the son of the late Willis Hampton Bennett and Birchie Montgomery Bennett. He married Miss Ada Walkup, of Columbia, in 1914 and had two children, both of whom are living. Survivors include his wife, the two children, Charles B. Bennett, of Wilmington, Ill., and Mrs. Dorothy Gillette, of Chatsworth, Ill.; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Leslie Triplett, of Columbia, and a brother, Arthur Bennett, of Paxton, Ill. Mrs. Triplett was at his bedside when the end came.

Funeral services were held at the Piper City Presbyterian Church at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, July 23. The large number of people attending the services attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held in the community where he had resided for many years.

Those attending the services from here were: Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Triplett and daughters, Elouise and Joyce, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McLean, Mrs. Rollin Farris and two daughters, Lavelle and Anita, and Edwin Cundiff. Mrs. H.D. Wagoman Dies In Missouri

Mrs. Lena Bell Wagoman, 59, died at her home south of Bogard, Mo., at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, after an illness of fifteen weeks.

She was born in Adair County March 10, 1890, and was a daughter of the late William E. and Susie Conover Carter. The family moved to Missouri in 1901.

She is survived by her husband, mother, Mrs. Susie Williams, of Bogard, sister, Mrs. Lela Lasser, of Ottumwa, Iowa, and brother, Luther Carter, of Bogard.

She was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral and burial were held on Thursday.

She was a niece of Mrs. J.W. Gresham and Mrs. W.R. Dohoney, who live near Columbia.

Edgar Bennett Killed In Accident Saturday

Mrs. Lizzie Bennett, of the Montpelier community, was notified Saturday [Oct. 22] of the death of her son, Edgar Bennett, 36, at his home in Ann Arbor, Mich., on that date. According to the news received he was topping trees on his lawn when he fell and was instantly killed.

Mr. Bennett, a veteran of World War II, had been living in Ann Arbor for several years. He was a son of the late Roy T. Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Hescock Bennett; an infant daughter; his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Malcolm, George, Buel and Arlin Bennett and Mrs. Ernest Grider, all of Montpelier, Mrs. Mittie Rowe and James Bennett, of Ann Arbor.

Funeral services and burial were held in Ann Arbor on Monday with the following from Adair County attending: Mrs. Lizzie Bennett, Malcolm, George and Buel Bennett and Mrs. C..C. Powell.

Mrs. Hunter Dies In Wichita Falls, Tex.

Mrs. Kate Hunter, 79, formerly of Gradyville, died at her home in Wichita Falls, Texas, last week, following a long illness.

She was the widow of the late J.J. Hunter, who was a merchant at Gradyville, before they moved to Texas about thirty years ago.

Mrs. Hunter has several nieces and a host of friends in Adair and Cumberland Counties who were grieved to hear of her passing.

She is survived by several children.

Funeral and burial were in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Mrs. Tim Wooldridge Dies In Indianapolis

Mrs. Beatrice Wesley Wooldridge, 44, died in Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday, October 29, at 2 p.m. She was born and reared in the Glensfork community and was the daughter of Mrs. Fanny Wesley who resides there.

Mrs. Wooldridge is survived by her mother; husband, Tim Wooldridge; three children, Bradley, Harold and Patty Wooldridge; a daughter by a former marriage. Mrs. Kathleen Burton; two sisters, Mrs. Otha Miller and Mrs. John Grider, and a brother, Virgil Wesley. all of Glensfork. She was a member of the Glensfork Christian Church.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs Otha Miller and Mrs. Mill, in Glensfork, at 2:00 p.m. Monday, conducted by Rev. H.J. Conover. Burial was in the family cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Martin Wooldridge, Bob Arnes, Hugh Wesley, Morris Miller, Eustice Smith and Reubin Coomer.

Services On Friday For Mrs. Bruce Tarter

Mrs. Lee Wheat Tarter, 47, died suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage at the Jewish Hospital, in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Tuesday, November 22. She was the wife of Bruce Tarter.

Mrs. Tarter was born and reared in the Miller Fields section of Adair County and belonged to a prominent family, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V.O. Wheat. She have lived in Cincinnati for several years and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband, parents, one son, Reid Tarter; three daughters, Joyce, Jenella and Joan Tarter; a brother, Elby Wheat, of Greenwood, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Shepherd, of Sano.

Funeral services were held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the home of her parents, conducted by Rev. George McElvain. Interment was in the White Cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Orvis Grant, Paul Grant, L.T. Wheat, Willie Wheat, Rod Weatherford and Edwin Weatherford.

Services Here For Mrs. Elbert Karnes

Mrs. Callie Handy Karnes, 58, wife of Elbert Lee Karnes, died on Wednesday, December 14, at the St. Edwards Hospital, in New Albany, Ind. Death was caused by cerebral hemorrhage.

Mrs. Karnes was a native of Green County and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Handy. The family lived in Columbia for several years, moving to New Albany about six years ago. She was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, parents, and the following children: Mrs. Mary Jewell, Mrs. Nina Coomer, Mrs. Christine Whobrey, Mrs. Ora Furkin, Mrs. Rachel King, Mrs. Betty Herman, Arnold and William Karnes. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Myrtie Karnes, and four brothers, Hubert, Leslie, Will and George Handy.

Funeral services were held at the Grissom Funeral Home Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. O.B. Mylum, of Berea. Interment was in the City Cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Philmore Herman, Richard Brown, Holland Furkin and Homer Handy.
