African-American Marriages for the White Family in Adair County, KY

There were a number of black marriage books in Adair County that were kept separately.  I copied some of these marriages and hope that perhaps you will find some of them useful.

Marriage Book 1 p 133
"GRUNDY WHITE and CLARA WHITE have lived together as husband and wife for the past thirty years and still desire to continue living toether as such.......  27 Oct 1866"

Marriage Book 1 p 135
ROBERT WHITE and MARIAH C. WHITE have lived together as husband and wife for the past 12 years and still desire to continue living together as such...27 Oct 1866".

Be it known that we J. W. VAUGHN as principal and ARTHUR WHITE as surety are
jointly and severally bound to the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the sum of
100 dollars.  This bond contioned as follows:
That, whereas marriage is intended to be solemnized between J. W. VAUGHN and
HATTIE WHITE.
Now, if there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage, this bond shall
be void, otherwise it shall be and remain in full force and effect.  Witness
our hands this 3rd day of April 1925.
