There were a number of black marriage books in Adair County that were kept
separately. I copied some of these marriages and hope that perhaps you
will find some of them useful.

Be it known that we J. W. VAUGHN as principal and ARTHUR WHITE as surety are
jointly and severally bound to the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the sum of
100 dollars. This bond contioned as follows:
That, whereas marriage is intended to be solemnized between J. W. VAUGHN and
HATTIE WHITE.
Now, if there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage, this bond shall
be void, otherwise it shall be and remain in full force and effect.
