DEED BOOK I, pg 359

This indenture made this 17th day of January 1837 between John L. Blaine,

Wlm. W. Thompkins & Mary Jane, his wife, late Mary Jane Blaine of the County

of Franklin and State of Kentucky of the one part and Elisha Bailey of

the County of Adair and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that

the said parties of the first part for & in consideration of the following

bond executed by their ancestor James Blaine, Dec. "This shall oblige me,

my heirs, etc. to make a good and sufficient title to Two hundred and eighty

acres land to Elisha Bailey including the place wherein he now lives, and

bounded as follows.

Beginning at Tinsley's corner in John Hawkins old line and with said line

to a hickory, corner of said Hawkins survey, thence with the said old line

to a corner said Bailey, thence with a line to near the clefts of Russell

Creek and for the true performance I bind myself the sum of six hundred

dollars. In witness whereof I here receipt my hand and seal this 15th day

of January 1822.

have granted, bargained & sold & by these presents do grant, bargain and

sell unto the said Elisha Bailey, his heirs and assigns, all that tract

or parcel of land situate and being in the County of Adair on the waters

of Russell Creek and bounded as follows to wit:

Beginning at a beech gum and dogwood corner to Tinsleys and Hawkins line,

thence with the same, thence S 45* E 182 poles to a hickory corner to said

Hawkins , thence with his line N 45 E 280 poles to a black oak and two

dogwoods in said old line, thence N 45*3/4 W 137 poles to a poplar & dogwood,

thence S 45 W 35 poles to black gum & poplar, thence S 64 W 108 poles to

a dead maple on the clefts of Russell Creek, thence S 48 W 45 poles to

the beginning containing Two hundred and eighty acres land the same more

or less, together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging

or in any way appertaining, To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed

with the appurtenances unto the said Elisha Bailey, his heirs and assigns

forever, and the said parties of the first part for themselves, their heirs,

executors & administrators, the aforesaid tract of land and appurtenances

unto the said Elisha Bailey, his heirs or assigns against the claim or

claims of all and every person or persons whatever, doth I will forever

warrent and defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said John

L. Blaine, Wlm. W. Thompkins and Mary Jane Tompkins have hereunto set their

hands and seals the day and date first above written.

Indenture made this 2nd day of February 1837 between Elisha Bailey &

Hannah his wife of the one part and James Figgett the other part all of

the county of Adair and state of Kentucky. Witnesseth that the said

Bailey & wife for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifty

dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby

acknowledge have this day bargained & sold & by these presents do sell

&

convey unto the said Friggett a certain tract or parcel of land situate?

lying and being in the County of Adair & state aforesaid on the waters

of

Russell Creek containing one hundred acres & bounded as follows:

Beginning at a large beech tree thence S 11* E 43 poles to a

white oak thence S 49 W 17 poles to a white oak in Hawkins old line

thence with said line N 45* 123 poles to a black gum & dogwood corner

to Tinsleys thence his line N 48 1/2 E 124 poles to a sugartree and

two maples thence S 56* E 90 poles to the beginning being part of 280

acres purchased by Elisha Bailey of James Blane to have and to hold the

said 100 acres together with all and singular the appurtenances there

unto belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said Friggett

his heirs & forever and the said Bailey & wife for themselves their heirs

& doth further covenant and agree to and with the said Friggett that they

will forever grant & defend the said land from and against the Claim or

Claims of all and every person or persons whatever In testimony whereof

the said Bailey and wife hath hereunto set their hand & seals the date
