J.W. England Succumbs Following Long Illness


 

J.W. England, 85 years of age, died at his home at Toria Tuesday, May 24, after an illness of nine weeks.

Mr. England, a son of the late Milton and Zerelda J. B. England, was born and lived his entire life in the Toria community. He married Miss Alice Henneger in 1883, and they had ten children. She died in 1922. In 1927 Mr. England married Mrs. Lou Jesse, who preceded him in death ten years ago.
He is survived by one brother, Lafayette England, of Oklahoma; eight children, Luther England, of Columbia, Ernest England, Coburg, Walter England, of Sparksville, Mrs. Walter Compton, of Nell, John Milton England, of Weed, Ira England, of Campbellsville, Mrs. Russell Compton, of Toria, and Eugene England, of Toria. Also surviving Mr. England were six step-children, 49 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, making a total of 126 surviving.
Funeral services were conducted at the Red Lick Baptist Church Wednesday morning by the Rev. Noah Page. Interment was in the the Red Lick Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Herbert England, Lee Compton England, Hyman England, Willard England, James England and Henry Compton.
