Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, Laurel County William T. Moren, attorney-at-law, London, KY, was born in what is now Laurel County, KY, October 9, 1825. His father, John Moren, a native of Ireland, came to Kentucky when quite small, and was by trade a stone-mason and carpenter, but devoted a great deal of time to agricultural pursuits. His wife, Nancy (Mershon) Moren, was born in Laurel County, and was the mother of ten children, Viz: William T., Daniel O., John W., Mary A., Matthew W., Margaret W., Amanda E., Nancy L., Alexander L. and Sarah F. William T. Moren has devoted considerable attention to agricultural pursuits all through life, and has been a very prominent man in his community both socially and politically, In 1848 or '49 he was appointed coroner, served two terms, and was subsequently made constable, afterward deputy sheriff under S.C. Jackson; he also served as sheriff of the county, and in 1866 was elected county attorney, having been admitted to the bar in 1867. January 13, 1852, he married Delilah F., a daughter of Samuel and Malinda Green, of Laurel County. She died October 15, 1867, and Mr. Moren next married, September 10, 1868, Mary F. Garrard, the widow of Daniel Garrard, deceased, and daughter of James and Mary Adkins, of Knox County, KY. They have three children, viz: Theophilus, John J. and William C. Mrs. Mary F.
