Fern Lake Mining Co-Middlesboro, Ky. Dodrill lists at Fern Lake, 1908-1909, 70 employees.  1905-1906 Ky. Mine Report lists a "Fern Lake Mine: operated by the Fern Lake Coal Co., Main office Middlesboro, Ky.  Ky. Mine Report for 1907 :Fern Lake Coal Co.  This property is now under the control of the Nicholson interests with E. P Nicholson, Gen. Mgr."  Evidently Fern Lake Minding Co. and Fern Lake Coal Co. names were used concurrently.  N/L Edkins, but believe a piece of scrip is owned by J. Sharp.  Evidently out of business by 1910.  Dodrill card record shows Fern Lake Mining Co. succeeded by Mountain Lake Coal Co., 1910

Operated by Turner Coal Co.  Wm. Turner, President and General Manager.
Located about one mile from Middlesboro.  Working a vein of coal about 5 feet with parting ranging from a few inches up to 18 inches in thickness. Only about twenty persons were employed at last inspection.  It was also in bad condition at this inspection.  Too much water and bad slate.  Haulage by mule to knuckle and let down incline
