BALLS TRIALS ARE DELAYED
FRANK, FLOYD AND ALVA BALL TO BE TRIED IN LONDON
WEDNESDAY FOR PINEVILLE SHOOTING The cases of the
Commonwealth against Frank, Floyd and Alva Ball set for trial today
at London have been passed until Wednesday, according to word
received here this afternoon. A number of witnesses went from here
to London today to attend the trials.
The three Balls are to be tried in connection with the sensational
shooting at the Pineville Courthouse May 17 a year ago, in which
Riley Ball was killed and John Hurst, Frank Ball and Clay Colson
were shot. Who started the shooting or who was responsible for it
has never been determined. The occasion was the trial of George
Colson. Colson, tried at Richmond last month, was given seven years
for killing Ira Ball, the offense for which he was to have been
tried the day of this shooting. Newspaper Article
