GEORGE COLSON TRIAL POSTPONED UNTIL MAY 14

Trial of George Colson which was scheduled to take place at Richmond yesterday was deferred on account of the absence of six commonwealth witnesses. The case has been reset for May 14. Witnesses who failed to appear were fined, according to reports from there. It is said Frank Ball was the only commonwealth witness present. All of the other witnesses for the defense were present. Judge J. R. Shackleford seemed greatly disappointed because of the circumstance which made it necessary to have the trial postponed for the third time. He issued orders for the absent witnesses to be fined thirty dollars each and that they be placed under a heavy bond to insure their appearance May 14. George Colson is charged with the killing of Ira Ball here last February. A change of venue being granted in the case, it was transferred to Richmond for trial.
