Pineville--Lester Vaughn Rhodes,19,accused of
slaying his grandfather near the Bell-Whitley County lines last
week, has waived the willful murder charge against him to the
Bell Grand Jury. Rhodes is charged in the shotgun slaying of
Felix Vaughn,71. The elderly man's body was found near his
Greasy Creek home late one afternoon last week. He had been shot
with a shotgun in the head, shoulders and back. Services were
held for Mr. Vaughn Thursday at the Durham Chapel with the Rev.
Birchel Smith officiating. Burial was in Scalf's Cemetery at
Turkey Creek. Surviving are his wife Lillian Vaughn also of
Ingram, 12 children; William Vaughn, Ingram, Ellen Lockard,
Temperance Michigan, Oma Asher, Wallins, Louise Tackett, Toledo,
Oh.;.,Marie Ridner, Temperance, Michigan; Ed Vaughn, Ingram.,
Lizzie Stone, Cincinnati, Oh.;.,Irene Helton, Stoney Fork, Lois
Jean Trosper, Columbus, Oh.; . Margaret Conley & John Vaughn of
Columbus, Oh. Dillard Vaughn, Ingram., Sister Belle Lowe of
Arjay, three brothers; Jim Vaughn, Hamilton, Oh.; Henry Vaughn,
Straight Creek &Tom Vaughn of Pineville. 54 grandchildren & 16
great-
grandchildren. Durham Funeral Home of Pineville was in charge of
