BAILEY, BOONE, 76, of Arjay, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at the Pineville Community Hospital.  He was born at Kettle Island, KY 
on July 1, 1929 the son of the late Everett and Mary Jane Cox Bailey.  He had worked for General Motors, Pontiac Division for 42 years and 
7 months.  Bailey served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ellen 
Caldwell Bailey and several brothers and sisters.  Survivors include his daughters and their spouses, Helen and Grady Parker of Holland, MI, 
Thelma Newbaum of Clarkston, MI, Wilma and James Miller of Arjay, KY and Kathy and David Kisner of Clarkston, MI; nine grandchildren, 
five great-grandchildren, brother, Ray Bailey, nephew, Harvey Bailey and a host of other relatives and friends.Services were Saturday at the 
Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. David Rice and Rev. Ned Asbury.  Burial was in the Woolum Cemetery at Arjay.  Pallbearers were |
sons-in-law and grandsons.  Military honors were by the American Legion Post 14.  The family received friends Friday at the Arnett & Steele 
Funeral Home, Pineville.

BAILEY, EULA MRS, age 69, a resident of Kettle Island, Ky., passed away Friday, November 27, 1987 at the Middlesboro Appalachian 
Hospital, in Middlesboro, Ky.  She was born on February 4, 1918 in Harlan County, Ky., the daughter of the late Jim Helton and Betty Johnson 
Helton. She believed in the Holiness Faith.  She is survived by her husband, Ray Bailey of Kettle Island, Ky.,; six children, Mrs. Betty Barker, 
Luther Bailey, Curtiss Bailey, Ronnie Bailey, Bruce Bailey, and Mr. Judy Anderson, all of Pontiac, Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Helton 
Brock of Kettle Island, Ky., and Mrs. Virgie Helton Caldwell of Mill Creek, ly.,; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services 
for Mrs. Bailey were at 2pm, Monday, November 30, 1987 at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Thea O. Carter and Benny 
Ingram officiating. Burial followed in the Belcher Family Cemetery in Mill Creek, Ky., her nephews and friends of the family served as pallbearers.

BAILEY, GERTRUDE , 64, a long time Bell County resident passed away Friday, August 17, 2001 at the Pineville Community Hospital. 
She was born on June 10, 1937 in Mill Creek to the late Letcher and Hila Mae Baker Bailey. She was a believer in the Pentecostal Faith.
In addition to the parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew J. Bailey.  Survivors include her three brothers, Harvey and 
Walter Bailey, both of Mill Creek and Melvin (Tishie) Bailey of Stoney Fork, and a host of nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Lucile Bailey 
of Michigan, other relatives and friends.  Services were held Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. George Neal and Rev. 
David Rice. Music will be by Kevin Wilson. Burial followed in the Bailey Cemetery at Mill Creek. Pallbearers were Bill Bailey, Harvey Lee

64, former Pineville resident, died Friday, May 15, at his residence in Kenansville, Fla., after a five month 
illness. He was born October 7, 1922 in Bell County. He was the son of the late James Bailey and Minnie (Dyer) Bailey. He remained
in Bell County and Pineville until 8 years ago, at which time he moved to Florida. .He was a member of the Church of Christ in Kissimmee, Fla., 
and also a former member of the Pineville Lions Club. During his career, he owned and operated the cable T.V. service and also had several 
real estate holdings in Pineville. Survivors include his wife, Carlie Mae (WILDER) BAILEY; one daughter, Linda McGAFFEE, Cumberland 
Gap; one, Lyle BAILEY, Middlesboro; two grandchildren, Carla Beth BAILEY and Courtney Blair BAILEY, both of Middlesboro; one sister, 
Pauline MIRACLE, Kettle Island, Ky.; plus a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, 
Clyde BAILEY. Services were Monday at 2 p.m. at the Arnett Funeral Home with the Revx. Paul GIBSON and Dale TURNER officiating. 
Interment was at the Pineville Memorial Cemetey. Pallbearers were Dr. Virgil SLUSHER, Dr. C.C. MICKEY, Garrett TAYLOR, Charles HALE,

on October 8, 1965 a daughter of the late Gladys Partin and Lloyd Webb.  She was a member of Church of God Of Prophesy and had been a 
manager at McDonald’s of Pineville. Survivors include her husband Matthew Bailey; Daughter, Jamie Noel Bailey, Son, Matthew Joshua Bailey, 
Sisters, Sharon Webb, Gail Webb, Sherry Webb, Paulette Webb, Jean Hopkins, parents-in-law, Ray and Virgie Bailey, sisters-in-law, Debbie 
Green, Ella Bailey, Loretta Bailey, Anita Bailey, Alison Bailey; brothers-in-law, Wade Bailey, Kenneth Bailey, Charles Bailey, Rodney Bailey,

BAILEY, JOHN, age 79, a resident of Arjay, KY., passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2006 in the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.  
He was born on November 28, 1926 in Blanche, KY., the son to the late Pete and Ada Bailey.  He was a retired surface and underground miner.  
He was a WWII veteran, a member of the Riverside Baptist Church and a member of UMWA.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in 
death by a daughter Ruby, brothers Raymond and Walter Bailey, sister Creasie Mills, sisters-in-law Ruby Goodin and Agnes Alons, brothers-in
law Guy Carpenter, Billy Baker, Taylor Mills, James Webb, Floyd Warren, Fred Warren.  Left to mourn his passing are the following members 
of his family.  His wife and children left to mourn a truly great man, his wife of 57 years, Elsie Bailey of Arjay, KY.  Children: Dan and Betty 
Jane Bailey and Nannie Allen, Tutty and John Henry Holland, Jenny and Richard Dunn, John Bailey, Jr., and Melissa and David Sowders.  
His siblings: Dora Warren, Bill and Tamara Bailey, Elbert and Janice Bailey, Louise and Russell Reed, Ray and Virgie Bailey, Nina Bailey.  
In-laws: Boyd Goodin, Pauline Warren, Thelma Webb, Jim and Jean Baker, Charlie and Judy Baker, Bernie Alons, Virgie Carpenter, Lucy 
Harbin.  He was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives and loved ones.  Funeral 
services for Mr. John Bailey were conducted Tuesday April 11, 2006 at the Riverside Baptist Church at Fourmile, KY., with Rev. Charles 
F. Jones and the Rev. Buddy Mills officiating.  Burial followed in the Green Hill Memorial Garden in Middlesboro, KY.  Pallbearers were 
Samson Bailey, Waylon Dunn, Kyle Dunn, Steve Bailey, Travis Bailey and Jeff Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Allen, David 
Chander Sowder, Dustin Warren, Dr. Emanuel H. Rader, John Mills and Larry Allen.  Visitation was Monday evening at the Riverside 
Baptist Church at Fourmile, KY.  Creech-Durham Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

BAILEY, MARTHA FORESTER, 72, of Hulen, died Wednesday, July 20, 1988 at the Pineville Community Hospital following a long illness. 
She was born in Stoney Fork, KY., July 17, 1915 to the late Soloman and Francis Caldwell Forester. A lifelong resident of Bell County, she 
was a homemaker and a believer in the Holiness faith. She was married to Rev. Leon Bailey. She was preceded in death by one daughter, 
Tishie Bailey.Mrs. Bailey is survived by: her husband, Rev. Leon Bailey, Hulen; two daughters, Margie Caldwell, Pineville, and Martha Lou 
Bailey, Hulen; three sisters, Elizabeth Caldwell and Ida Brock, both of Stoney Fork, and Mary Forester, OH; one brother, Henry Forester, 
Stoney Fork, KY; 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24 at the Arnett Funeral Home 
Chapel with Rev. Feeman Clark and Rev. Thea O. Carter. Burial was in the Kentucky-Bell Cemetery, Calloway, KY. Friends and grandsons

BAKER, ARTHUR THOMAS  September 06, 1925 - July 16, 2007  Arthur Thomas Baker, 81 of Pineville, passed away on Monday, 
July 16, 2007 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. He was born in Pineville on September 6, 1925, a son of the late Thomas and 
Cora Scalf Baker. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church and retired from the Bell County School System where he had been a school 
teacher and school social worker. He had also served on the Bell County School Board for 12 years. Mr. Baker served in the U.S. Navy during 
World War II and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and 
sisters, Connie Baker, Willie Baker, Lindsey Baker, Johnny Baker, Ruby Bullington, Eula Mae Bruner and Mable June Thompson.  Survivors 
include his wife of 54 years, Chastine Goodin Baker, son, Marvin Clifton Baker and his wife, Suzanne; grandchildren, Whitney Lee Baker, Justin 
Christian and Mathew Christian; sisters, ChloEva Clark and Norma Jean Meredith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1:00 PM Friday at the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Bays and Rev. Terry Cox. Music will be by the Church Choir.

 BAKER, DAVID, 53, of Pineville, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at the Pineville Community Hospital.  He was born  in 
Pineville on October 13, 1949 a son of Ellen Sizemore Webb.  He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel.  
He had worked for CSX Railroad for 26 years and was a Roadmaster.  He was preceded in death by his step-father, Al Webb, Sr. Survivors 
include his wife, Geneva Phipps Baker; son, Scott Baker; step-children, Eddie Kirkland, step-grandson, Matthew Kirkland, Weldon (Teresa)

in Bell County, Ky., July 3, 1930. She was preceded in death by husband Lon L. Baker and brother Fred Jones. Survivors include sons Thomas

BAKER, KITTY  SUE  DUNN, 46, of Pineville, went home to be with Jesus on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006 at the University of Tennessee 
Medical Center in Knoxville. She was born in Pineville on August 23, 1959 the daughter of Gaye Hester Posey Dunn and the late Johnny Ira Dunn. 
She was of the Pentecostal Faith and attended services at both Laurel Hill Pentecostal Church and New Life House of Prayer in Middlesboro. 
She had been a homemaker.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mattie Louise Rhodes, brothers, Ray Honeycutt 
and John Oren Dunn and nephews, James Wendell Mills and Fred Ira Dunn, Jr.  Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Baker of Pineville, son,

BAKER, LARRY, 53, of Pineville, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at his home.  He was born in Pineville on February 5, 1950 son 
of the late Ed and Maude Alford Baker.  He was a Baptist and had worked in Strip Mining.      Survivors include his children, Misty Baker of 
Pineville and Johnathon Carmack of Columbus, OH; brothers and sisters, Karen Baker, Joann Baker, Dewayne Baker and James Baker all of 
Pineville and Eddie (Nora) Baker of Memphis, TN and special friend Mary Prater, and his children's mother, Sudie Cremeans. Services were 
at 11:00A.M. on Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Goodin.  Music was provided by Billy Ray Hoskins and the

BAKER, MARY  MASON - FERNDALE - Mary Mason Baker, 83, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2006, at the University of Tennessee 
Medical Center in Knoxville. 
Born Sept. 7, 1922, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John and Ina Saylor Coots.  In addition to her 
parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Harve Mason and Lloyd Baker; brother, Matt Sizemore; son, Arelin Eugene Mason, 
and two infant babies; and a granddaughter, Linda Lawson. 
Survivors include her sons, J.C. and wife Joyce Mason, Ferndale; Doyle and 
wife Gladys Mason, Mayfield, Ky., Dean and wife Beth Mason, and Jarvie Mason, all of Lafayette, Ind.; daughters, Faye Gibson, Blackmont, 
and Sylvia Carroll Roark, Harrogate, Tenn.; 15 granddaughters, nine grandsons, and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren. 
Funeral 
services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ferndale New Pentecostal Church. Interment will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers

been a resident of Calloway about three years and was of the Holiness faith. HIs wife preceded him in death in 1978. He is survived by

BALES, GORDON A, 72 - PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Gordon A. "Pud" Bales, 72, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Altercare of Mentor

BALLINGER, EDNA RARDEN -  89, of Frankfort, formerly of Versailles, widow of Arthur Ballinger, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at 
Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Lawrenceburg, following an illness.
  Born March 12, 1918, in Bell County, she was the daughter of the late Frank 
and Alice Gamble Mills. She was the retired owner of E&A Market and a member of New Life Worship Center.  Survivors include three sons, 
Clifford Fultz, Lawrenceburg, Clyde Fultz Jr., Frankfort, and Ronnie Rarden, Woodford County; a daughter, Alice Johnston, Frankfort; two 
brothers, Amond Mills, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Frank Mills Jr., Eddy, Texas; three sisters, Gladys Garrison, Harrison, Ohio, Myrtle Hollingsworth, 
Harrison, Ohio, and Dee Winterod, Moscow, Ohio; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A daughter, Arlene McKinley; a brother, 
Lenord Mills; and two sisters, Pearl Lovell and Juanita Brock, are deceased.  Services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Harrod Brothers 
Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Gene Roberts. Burial was in the Versailles Cemetery. Family members and friends served as casket bearers.

BARGO, IRENE, age 63, of Walker, was born on September 9, 1937, at Salt Gum, to the late Gilbert Bargo and Axie Mills Bargo. Miss Bargo 
died at her home, Friday May 11, 2001. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist Church member at Blanche, Kentucky in Bell County. She 
was preceded in death by her brother, Leon. Miss Bargo is survived by her sisters, Eselene Bargo of Walker, Gelois Fetters of Flat Lick, Retha 
Mae Bargo of Walker, Lula Smith and husband Escoe of Dewitt, Alene Bargo of Walker, Barbara Sue Bargo of Taylor, Michigan and Dorothy 
Jean Gabbard and husband Jerry of Corbin; her brothers, Donald Ray Bargo and Eugene Bargo both of Walker; six nieces; three nephews; one |
great niece; and one great nephew.  Funeral services for Miss Irene Bargo were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, 
May 15, 2001 at 2 p.m. where the Rev. Ricky Broughton and the Rev. Earl Hammons officiated. Miss Bargo was laid to rest in the Barbourville

Ky., on January 3, 1912, a son of the late Farmer and Martha MILLS BARGO. A member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church, Wilton, Ky., 
he had been a coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He is survived by his wife, Bertha MILLS BARGO, Gray, 
Ky.; four daughters, Jenny McKEEHAN, Corbin, Rosa HENSLEY, Elizabeth RICHMOND, and Dorothy FARMER, all of Gray, Ky.; three 
sons, Johnny BARGO, London, Jimmy BARGO, Frankfort, and Dennis BARGO, Gray; one sister, Dora BARGO, Harlan; one brother, 
Chester BARGO, Callebs Creek; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Services were Monday, 
October 9, at the Arnett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Damon HELTON. Burial was in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Grandsons

Barnes; parents, George and Hattie Hughs Yeary; two sisters, Alice Brewer and Hannah Steele; two brothers, Michael Yeary and Ralph 
Yeary. Survivors include two sons Lee Roy Barnes and wife, June, Thurmont, Md., and Ray P. Barnes, Pineville; a daughter, Lavonna Webb, 
Middlesboro; five grandchildren, Cheryl Bottomley and husband, Richard, Lee Barnes and wife Terry, Carla Susan Webb, Lisa G. Russell and 
husband, Garrett, and Carl W. Webb; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew J. Russell, Sarah Rebecca Earls, Kayla Bottomley, Julia Meredith

Barnett, David-Ferndale-David Grant Barnett, 93, died Tuesday, June 20 at his residence. He was the son of Jim and Manerva Brown 
Barnett. Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Emma Seigler and Mrs. Ollie Moody, Pineville; two sons, Andrew Barnett and Lee Martin, Pineville,

BEGLEY, BEN CANTRILL, 85, of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Bell County, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2002 
at the V.A. Medical Center in Bay Pines, FL. He was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Robert Hendrickson Begley and had been a tool and 
die maker for ITT Company in St. Petersburg. He was a Chief Gunners Mate on the USS Dobin during the attack of Pearl Harbor and a 
past president of the national Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. He attended Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg. He was 
preceded in death by his parents, and brother and sisters, Anson Begley, Pauline Ferguson and Ardith Lawson.  Survivors include his wife, 
Doris, sons, Robert, Ben, Charles and Duane; sister, Cassie Begley and brothers, Ira, Otto and Shell. A memorial service was held in St.

BEGLEY, SHELVIE “ SHELL”  -Ingram, KY – Shell Begley, 77, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital. 
He was born in Ingram on October 12, 1927 the son of the late Robert Hendrickson and Sudie Goodin Begley. Before his retirement he lived and 
worked in Long Beach, CA and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Long Beach. For the past 13 years, he had lived with his sister at 
Ingram. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Anson and Ben Cantrell, sisters, Pauline Begley Ferguson and Ardith Begley 
Lawson. Survivors include his sister, Cassie Begley of Ingram, Brothers, Otto Begley of Beech Grove, IN and Ira Begley of Toledo, OH and 
a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were at 5 PM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Boyd Gray. 
Burial was in the Begley-Ingram Cemetery at Ingram. Pallbearers were family and friends. The family received friends on Sunday afternoon at the

Belcher, Vernon -84, of Tazewell, TN.  passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005, at the Claiborne County Hospital. He was born on April 6, 
1922, in Harlan, Ky., the son of the late Garfield and Elizabeth Caldwell Belcher. He was a Pentecostal and had worked at a sawmill. He was a 
veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Liza Whitehead Belcher; sons J.D. and 
Johnny Belcher; granddaughters, Rolanda Helton and Tammy Belcher; grandson, Chris Matteson; brothers and sisters, David Belcher, Hazel Brock, 
and John Henry Belcher. Survivors include his children, Shirley Helton, Lois and Arnold Helton, Ruth and John Hoskins, Daniel and Cordiann Belcher, Geneva and Arnold Griffey, Barbara and Mark Matteson, Kenneth Belcher and Bonnie North; grandchildren, Dolly, Elbert, Marcus, Lisa, Gary, 
Randy, Jenny, Sondra, Eric, Stephaney, Ann, Amanda, and Johnathan; great-grandchildren, Tiffney, Christal, Brandon, Kateland, Travis, Darrin, 
Arnold Ray, Alex, Brittney, Ashley, Faith, Maddie, Sidney, Chance, Courtney, and Brieanna; great-great-grandchildren, Bradley, Sosha and Tosha; brothers and sisters, Virgil Belcher, Marcell Elliott, Lovonne Akers and Reed Belcher and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Laurel Branch Pentecostal Church with the Rev. George Neal, the Rev. Herstel Belcher, the Rev. 
Jeff Mills and the Rev. Ted Brock presiding. Music will be by Ted Brock, Jeff Mills, George Neal, Opsie Whitehead, Stephanie, Arnold and Geneva 
Griffey. Burial will be in the Belcher Family Cemetery at Stoney Fork. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Benfield, Oma Nell -84, of Farmerville-passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005, in Farmville. She was born Oct. 7, 1920, in Rose Hill, Va., the daughter of the late S.B. and Dora Saylor. She was the wife of Virgil Benfield, and had been a resident of Farmville since January 5, 1982. She was 
also preceded in death by her son, James Roddy Pace; and sisters, Sara Pace and Vina Payne. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 
brothers, Arnold, Dennis, and Charles Saylor all of Rose Hill; her sisters, Evelyn Payne of Ohio, Thelma Parks of Tennessee, and Mildred Carter of Gainesville, Fla.; her grandchildren, James David Olienyk and his wife Carol, and Robin Sydnor and her husband Bruce; and five great-grandchildren. 
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at Shorter Funeral Home with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice. The family 
will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday morning from 10-11a.m. AM at Shorter Funeral Home, which is in 
charge of arrangements.

BENNETT, PAULINE J., 80, of 7355 Middletown Road, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. Born 
June 14, 1920, in Kettle Island, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mattie (Nunn) Lefevers.  On October 12, 1940, she married 
John Ed Bennett, who preceded her in death January 21, 1995.  Mrs. Bennett attended school in Bell County, Ky. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Funson and husband Ronald of Galion and Brenda Brown and husband Bryan of West Lafayette; three grandchildren, Vincent A. Brown, Francie Shuck and Jon Brown; three great-grandchildren Joseph Brown, Tre Brown and Dylan Brown; two 
brothers, Fred Lefevers of Pineville, Ky. and Sonny Lefevers of Harrogate, Tenn., five sisters, Bonnie Elliott and husband Paul and Mary 
Helen Elliott, all of Pineville, Ky., Willie Hoskins and husband Sylus of Coldiron, Ky., Barbara Burnette and husband Claude of Connersbille, Ind. 
and Margaret Brock and husband Bob of East Liverpool; and several nieces and nephews including Jimmy Elliott of Morristown, Tenn.  In addition 
to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by a grandson; Jamie Brown; a brother and a sister.  Funeral services were held 
at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2001 at the Given-Dawson West Lafayette Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery in West 
Lafayette.

BENTLEY, GEORGE REESE, age 91, a resident of Pineville, Ky., died Friday, September 9, 1988 at his home. He was born September 23, 
1896 in Pineville, Ky., the son of the late George Bentley and Pearl Miller Bentley. The family moved to Hawesville, Ky., shortly after his birth and 
he returned to Pineville in 1921 to work at First State Bank. He was associated with First State Bank for over 47 years, was president of First State 
Bank for 12 years and was chairman of the board until he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pineville, Ky. He is survived by 
his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Perkins Bentley, Pineville; one son, George Reese Bentley, Jr., Pineville; three grandchildren, Charles C. Bentley, John Miller 
Bentley and Williams S. Bentley, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Clay, Ft. Worth, Texas; several nieces and nephews. Services for 
Mr. Bentley were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 11 at the First Baptist Church of Pineville, with Dr. Charles F. Jones. Burial followed in the 
Pineville Memorial Cemetery. The pallbearers who served were Charles Dean, Bill Mills, George Reese, Clint Taylor, Aubrey Bailey, Jimmy Croley,

BERRY, IRENE PHELPS, 67 died Thursday, Dec. 13, 1990 at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 18, 1923, 
at Bryson, Tenn., a daughter of the late Herman WILLIAMS and Ruth WILLIAMS. A lifelong resident of Middlesboro, she was a member of 
Monarch Church of God and was a retired employee of Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital.  In addition to her parents she was preceded 
in death by her husband Charlie PHELPS; and two sisters. Survivors include tow sons, Fred PHELPS and Charles PHELPS both of Middlesboro;
three daughters, Lorene PHELPS MOYERS, Middlesboro, Florence PHELPS ELLIS, Pennington Gap, Va., and Ann PHELPS RAINS, Canton, 
Mich.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; step-mother, Molie WILLIAMS, Middlesboro; two sisters, Edith DAUGHERTY, 
Maynardville, Tenn., and Bernice SHACLEFORD, Dublin, Ga.; and two brothers, Jimmy WILLIAMS, Lima, Ohio and Mack WILLIAMS, 
Florida. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Creech Funeral Home with the Rev. Woodrow GILBERT presiding. Music will be provided by the

1986, and was ordained as a deacon in February 1990. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother, 
Gracie Hunter Berry, and father, Joseph Lafayette Berry; one sister, Mary Smith; two brothers, J.B. and earnest Berry; and 12 half-brothers and 
sisters. Survivors include his wife, Cleo Owens Berry, Speedwell; daughters and sons-in-law, Lou and Lee Ferris, Speedwell, Bennie and Charles 
Grace, Middlesboro; two grandchildren, Jon and Keri Grace, Middlesboro; brothers and their wives, Charles "Chuck" and Sybil Berry, Speedwell, 
Floyd "Tip" and Lucille Berry, Rose Hill, Va.; sisters and their husbands, Doris and Condis Edwards, Speedwell, Dalis Bolton, LaFollette, Tenn.;

BEVERLY, FLEM, 76, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Pineville Community Hospital. He was born at Dewitt, Ky., on Feb. 27, 1925, 
a son of the late Richard and Callie Smith Bailey. He was raised by his step-mother, Dora Beverly. He had been a coal miner and was a member 
of the United Mine Workers of America. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Hershel David Lawson; and brother 
and sisters, Jim Beverly, Ellen Beverly and Ada Garland. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruby Jewell Jones Beverly, Hulen; children, Bobby 
Wayne (Phyllis) Beverly, Kettle Island, Callie (Luther) Gambrel, Brownies Creek, Brenda Sue (David) Lawson, Hulen, Larry (Melissa) Beverly, 
Stoney Fork, and Gail (Kenneth) Lawson, Hulen; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Linda Taylor, Brittain Beverly, 
Viola Lewis, Arthur (Archie) Beverly, and Oscar Beverly; and a host of nieces, nephews, step-brothers, step-sisters, and friends.  Funeral services

BEVERLY, RUBY  JEWELL, 76, of Miracle, KY passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2006 at the Oaktree Hospital in Corbin. She was born 
in Four Mile on July 23, 1929 the daughter of the late Gertrude Miller Smith. She believed in the Pentecostal Faith and had been a homemaker.  
She was preceded in death by her husband, Flem Beverly, her mother, Gertrude Smith and a brother, Gene King and a grandson, Hershel David 
Lawson.  Survivors include her children, Bobby and Phyllis Beverly of Stoney Fork, Callie and Luther Gambrel of Miracle, Brenda and David 
Lawson of Hulen, KY, Larry and Melissa Beverly of Kettle Island and Gail and Kenneth Lawson of Hulen; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were Wednesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, 
Pineville, with Rev. David Howard and Rev. Herstel Belcher. Music was by Joy Belcher and the Blackmont Church Choir. Burial was in the 
Beverly Cemetery on White Mountain in Arjay. Pallbearers were her grandsons.  The family received friends Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele

Bingham, Donald Burton Sr., 67, was a born again Christian who went home to be with Jesus on July 25, 2004 at the Pineville 
Community Hospital.  He was born in Pineville on December 30, 1936 the son of the late Nathaniel and Juanita Parsons Bingham.  He loved 
Jesus and attended Newtown Baptist Church.  Don was a school bus driver for both Bell County School System and Pineville Independent Schools.  
He was a member of the Wallins Creek Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Juanita Bingham and Grandmother, 
Vesta Bingham. Survivors include his children, Burton and Joyce Bingham, Rebecca and Chuck Marsee, Michelle and Jim Miracle and David 
Michael Bingham; grandchildren, Daniel Bingham, Elizabeth Bingham, Brandon Marsee, Jim Miracle and Julie Miracle; great-grandchildren, Abigail 
Faith and Sarah Payton Bingham. Wife and friend of 29 years, Laura Brock Bingham and special friends and the staff and residents of Britthaven of Pineville. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. William Boyd Bingham and Rev. Jay Carey.  Music 
will be by Jim Miracle and Thomas Risner.  Burial will be in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Bingham.

February 14, 1898 in Bell County, Ky., the son of the late Noah BINGHAM and Deborah MIRACLE BINGHAM. He believed n the Methodist 
faith. He is preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers, Mary WOOLUM, America HALCOMB, Lucy DURHAM, Dora BINGHAM, 
Laura THOMPSON, William R. BINGHAM, Albert BINGHAM, Ambrose BINGHAM, Tom BINGHAM, Robert BINGHAM, and George BINGHAM.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Opha BINGHAM, Pineville; one son, Odell BINGHAM, Central City, Ky.; two grandchildren, 
Rayan BINGAHAM and Chris BINGHAM. Services were conducted Saturday, July 21, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel 
with the Rev. Danny ROBBINS officiating.  Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were friends and family. Durham Funeral

Baptist Church and had been a housekeeper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Geneva Kellems, Bonnie Bingham, 
Mary Katherine Brice and Maggie Brice, and nine brothers, Floyd Rowlett and Fred, Gus, Bill, Jim, Ed, Charlie, Chester and Ray Bingham. Survivors include a son, Jesse (Mary) Garland of Dorton Branch; granddaughters, Leslie Garland and Holly Garland, all of Dorton Branch; three sisters, Freida Garland and Norma Garrison both of Dorton Branch and Fannie Lefevers of Wallsend; one brother, John W. Bingham of Palm Harbor, Florida, three special nieces, Pam Mason and Janice Maynard, both of Dorton Branch and Brenda Engle of Middlesboro. Services were Monday at the Arnett &
