Napier, Cordie M.- 78, of the Straight Creek community died at her home Wednesday, June 22, 1988 following a long illness. She was born September 15, 1909 in Bell County to the late James F. and Troy B. Gambrel Napier. she was married the late Willie Garfield Napier and was a housewife. Mrs. Napier was a licensed Evangelist and was a believer in the Holiness Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Ralph Napier, one sister, Mildred Doulen, and two brothers, Arthur Miller and Franklin Miller. Cordie Napier is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Gambrel, and Mable Cox, both of Straight Creek, and Kitty Anderson of Dayton, Ohio; three sons, Daniel Napier, Paul Napier, and Jerry Wayne Napier all of Straight Creek; three sisters, Hazel Smith, Straight Creek, Myrtle Webb and Blanche Paszkiewics, both of Middlesboro; and two brothers, Charles Miller, Oak Park, Michigan; and Fuson Miller, Straight Creek; twenty six grandchildren, Forty-eight Great-grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 1888 at the Arnett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kale Saylor. Burial was in the Little Creek Cemetery at Straight Creek. Pallbearers were grandsons. Music during the service was provided by a host of family friends. Arnett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

NAPIER, FLOYD, age 56, a former resident of Bell County, Kentucky, died at his home in Spring Grove, Illinois. He was born December 10, 1931 
in Bell County, Kentucky, the son of Cleveland Napier and the late Jewell Gambrel Napier. He was a member of the brotherhood of Railway, Airlines, Steamship and Clerks Union, a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the United States Army, and he believed in the Holiness Faith. He is 
survived by his father, Cleveland Napier, Hulen, Ky.; six brothers and sisters, Howard (Hoss) Napier, Four Mile, Ky., Dwayne Napier, Mrs. Sophie 
Gillum and Mrs. Raes Mullins, all of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Otha Elliott, Barbourville, Ky., and Mrs. Dorothy Louise Jackson, Ypsilanti, Mich.; many 
nieces and nephews. Services were at 2 p. m. Sunday, December 27, 1987 at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cecil Miracle officiating. 
Burial followed in the family cemetery, Four Mile, Ky.

NAPIER, GLEN R -Services were conducted in loving memory of Glen R. Napier, a resident of Pineville, KY who passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born April 24, 1949 in Bell Co Kentucky the son of the late Colson Napier Sr. and Bertha Brock Napier who survives.  He was a member of the Old St. Creek Trinity Tabernacle, instructor for Masonary and Carpentry at the Bell Bo Vocational school and was a Kentucky Colonel.  At the time of his death he was 55 years old.  He is survived by the following members of his family: his mother Bertha Napier of Pineville, Kentucky, his wife, Shelby Jean Napier of Pineville, KY, son and daughter in law, Derrick Jerome and Angie Leger of LaFollette, TN, 3 daughters and their husbands; Deanna and Russ Dillingham of Bear, Delaware, April Napier of Pineville,, KY and Kimberely and Casey Watkins of Helen, Alabama, 2 brothers and their wives; Millard and Debbie Napier of Pineville, KY and Colson Jr. and Sherry Napier of Clear Creek, KY, 5 sisters and brothers in law; Verlene and Russell Barthlomew of Indianapolis, IN, Darlene and Bobby Long of Rosehill, VA, Betty Jean and Jimmy Hobbs of Pineville, KY, Peggy Sue and Don Gibson of Big Stone Gap, VA and Brenda Kay and Billy Ferguson of Pineville, KY; 3 grandchildren; Ethan Wesly Napier of Pineville, KY and Megan Larae Leger and Sara Larae Leger both of LaFollette, TN and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.Funeral services were conducted February 9, 2005 at 12:00 noon at the Old St. Creek Trinity Tabernacle with Revs. Danny Daniels, Mark Mahurin, Herman Denny and Don Messer officiating.  Music was provided by Mickey Wilder, Mark Mahurin, Michele Napier and the Napier Sisters.  Interment followed in the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens east of Pineville, KY.  Visitation was held from 6-9 pm Tuesday at the Creech-Durham Funeral Home.  Pallbearers were Brian, Chucky, Corey, Kevin and Nick Napier, Russ Bartholmew and Cody Ferguson.  Honorary pallbearers were Bell Co Area Vocational School Staff and the AM and PM classes of the Masonary and Carpentry Classes, special friends, Ernie Campbell, Ken Howard, Herman Denny and Danny Johnson.

KETTLE ISLAND - Thelma "Granny" Napier, 96, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at Middlesboro Health Care Facility. She was born Jan. 25, 1909, and was the daughter of the late 
Henry Neal and Abbie Gail Helton Neal. She belied in the holiness faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Napier; daughter, Amanda Napier; and son-in-law, Delbert 
Elliott.  Survivors include her son, Pearl Napier, Jeffersonville, Ind.; one daughter, Myrtle Elliott; grandchildren, Debbie Brock, London, Ky., Bridget Brock, Middlesboro, Pat Napier, Kettle Island, Rose Napier, 
Kettle Island, Kim Pollen, Jeffersonville, Ind., Freddie Elliott, Beach Park, Ill., Donnie Elliott, Calvin, Tony Elliott, Frankfort, Ky., Tim Elliott, Pineville, Barbara Elliott, Pineville, Tina Hubbard, Kettle Island; two 
sisters, Edna Collett, Kettle Island, and Francis Green, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Michael Brock; and a host of other great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home with the Rev. George Neal presiding. Music will be provided by Lucy Smith.  Burial will be in Napier Cemetery at Kettle Island.

Nelson, Cotha Cleo Rogers -83, of Frankfort, Ky born June 7,1922 in Knox County, Ky., passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005 in Frankfort. She was a daughter of Henry and Lillie Phipps Rogers. She had two brothers, Elza Rogers and Gerald Rogers and one sister, Imogene Rogers, who all preceded her in death. She grew up in Kettle Island, and on reaching adulthood she was employed for many years in retail sales in Pineville and later in Lexington, Ky. On November 15, 1969, she married Opal Nelson. The couple moved to Lexington, where they lived until his death m March 1988. Shortly thereafter she returned to Pineville to live near her sister, Imogene. In July 1989 she suffered a debilitating stroke, and her sister took care of her until her own death in 2000. At that time, she moved to Frankfort to be closer to family members. She resided at The Neighborhood of Frankfort until her death. She leaves three nieces and one nephew, Geraldine Rogers, Lexington, S. C, Eva White of Frankfort, Ann Morris of Danville, Ky., and Don Rogers of Pueblo, Colo.; and other relatives and friends who will miss her. According to her niece, Ann Morris, "Aunt Cotha loved shopping and strawberry milkshakes. I'll never pass another Dollar Store without thinking of her." Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with the Rev. C. H. Dudley presiding. Burial will be in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the funeral hour on Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.

NOAH, MRS. LIZZIE BETH (PARTIN) - age 75 of New Tazewell, TN, was born March 9, 1930 in Frakes, Ky. and passed away suddenly September 13, 2005 at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville. She was the wife of the late Tilton Noah. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Shelton & Omey (Maiden) Partin; brother, Houston Partin. North, R. E. -66, of Pineville, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Pineville on January 15, 1939 the son of the late Charlie and Sally Jones North. He had worked for Davidson Log Yard and was a retired in 1984 as a coal miner from Straight Creek Mining. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nell Gregory. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Gregory North, daughters and their husbands, Belinda and John Van Cleave of Pineville, Kathy and Chris Bowen of Pineville, Lillie and Reed Harris of Lexington, Sally North of Pineville and Mary and Mike Liford of Pineville; grandchildren, Michael Liford and Jubal North of Pineville and Alicia Harris of Lexington; brother and his wife, R.L. and Della North of Raven, KY, sister, Marie Rice of Pineville, uncles, Joe Jones and Joe North of Pineville and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was born at Beverly, Ky., on March 22, 1927 the daughter of the late Lewis Bud and Lucy Helton Saylor. She was a member of Faith Temple Church and believed in the Holiness Way. She had been a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bige M. North; sons, Carl Jay, Alfred, Esco, Archie Sr., and Leon North; daughters, Offie Haley, Lindie Saylor, Dora Jones, Callie Brock, Geneva Mink; step-mother, Sarah Roark North; special friends, Stella Mink, Lanchie Mink, Marie Elliott and Carolyn Fugate; brothers, Wilburn, Richard, Jesse James and Denver Saylor; and sisters, Susie Saylor and Magdaline Neal.
