Pace, Roy Henry -AIKEN, S.C. - 63, passed away Monday, April 3, 2006 at his residence. Born in Middlesboro to the late Arvle Henry Pace and Katie Crigger Pace Moss, he lived in Middlesboro until moving to Aiken in 1964, where he lived most of his life. He was a member of the NRA and attended Millbrook Baptist Church. He was also member of Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church in Middlesboro, and he served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Pace. Survivors include his wife, Betty Wyrick Pace; daughters, Debbie (Doug) Pace Sides, Mary (Jim) Pace Davidson, both of Aiken; sister, Dorothy Mae Rice, Frankfort, Ky.; brothers, Raymond C. Pace, Graniteville, and Ross E. Pace, Aiken; grandchildren, Bill, Brooke, and Brandon Sides, AJ and Danielle Davidson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW with Dr. Rev. Eddie Leopard officiating. Park, Martha Lois Wilson -84, of Corbin, KY and formerly of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Corbin. She was born March 11, 1921 in Straight Creek, KY, the daughter of Boyd and Leelon Kinningham Wilson. Mrs. Park lived with her family in Pineville, KY and graduated from Pineville High School. She later attended Union College in Barbourville, KY. She worked for many years as a secretary with the Kentucky Utilities Company in Pineville, KY. She resigned from the KU in 1963 and in that same year moved to Oak Ridge with her family and began working with the Oak Ridge Utility District. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in various church activities, as well as knitting, reading and cooking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Park, February 22, 1979; sister, Opal Mabel Wilson Bruner, January 13, 2004; and a brother, Carl Wilson, who died in infancy. She is survived by:Son, Dr. Richard F. Park and his wife Gladys Park of Corbin, KY; Sister, Mary Lee Wilson Brown of Outlooke Pointe in Knoxville;Grandchildren, Pamela Gail Park and Kevin Wilson Park, both of Lexington, KY and several nieces and nephews in the Knoxville area. Funeral services were Friday, December 16, 2005 at 10:00am at Weatherford Mortuary with Dr. Larry Dipboye officiating. The burial at Oak Ridge Memorial Park was private. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions in her memory to First Baptist Church, 1101 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family received friends on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Weatherford Mortuary.

PARRISH, Geraldine M. 76, formerly of Medway, Ohio passed away February 3, 2008. She was born May 22, 1931 in Bell County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Gilbert & Cordelia (Partin) Maiden. She retired from General Motors (Inland). She is survived by a son, Kevin & Deborah Parrish; a daughter, Shantay; three grandchildren, Patience, Kevin & Lyndsey; a brother, Lester & Irene Webb of Vandalia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Parrish; a twin sister, Nadine Maiden. Visitation will be held at 10-11 a.m. Wednesday February 6, 2008 at the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, New Carlisle, Ohio. Burial will follow at Medway Cemetery. Partin, Alva - of Frakes, Ky. was killed suddenly at work in Claiborne County, Tenn., Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1971 at the age of 28. Survivors include his wife, Joan Partin, Frakes; two children, Randy Jo and Kelly Sue, his mother, Cassie Partin, and father, Cebert Partin, Frakes, one sister, Charlotte Partin, Frakes; two brothers, Wayne Partin and Jessee Partin, both of Frakes. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the New Vine Baptist Church at Frakes, with the Rev. Wade Partin and the Rev. Charlie Browning officiating. Interment will follow in the Partin Cemetery at Frakes. PARTIN , CASSIE M. -73-   FRAKES - Cassie Miracle Partin , 73 , passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Chenoa, a daughter of the late Rev. Mart Miracle and Betsy  Willis Miracle. She had been employee of Henderson Settlement for 30 years, and was a member of New Vine Missionary Baptist Church. Partin, Della North -87, of Pineville, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born in Tinsley on September 29, 1917 the daughter of the late Mary L. Jones North and Issac North. She was a member of the Salem #1 Baptist Church where she had served as Secretary and Sunday School Teacher for several years. Mrs. Partin was the owner and operator of Partin Grocery for over 40 years. She received a certificate for serving as a Republican Election Officer for 50 years. Della was an inspiration to all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Porter Partin, son, Bill Doc Partin, grandson, Donnie Maidon, sons-in-law, Gene Maidon and William Jordan, sister, Janie Fuson and brothers, AY North, Bill Lee North and Ned Gibson. PARTIN, HELEN JOYCE -70 of Chenoa, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at her home. She was born in Middlesboro on June 20, 1934 the daughter of the late John Harvey and Cleo Hubbs Hurst. She was a member of the New Vine Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a pastor’s wife for over 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Nash and brothers, Jerry Hurst and Toy Hurst. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Rev. Truman Partin, sons, Terry Lee Partin and wife, Debra K. and David Allan Partin; grandchildren, Johnathon Colby Partin of Tuscaloosa, AL and Julie Merideth Partin of Middlesboro, brothers and sisters, Onder (Helen) Hurst of Lima, OH, Dewey (Ruth) Hurst of Spencerville, OH, Wanda (Chalmer) Lake of Lima and Charlette (Merle) Masters of Lima and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Peace, Doris S. - a resident of Pineville, KY who passed away Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born February 28, 1926 in Pineville, KY the daughter of the late Ike Stuart and Katie Brown Stuart, she was a member of the 1st Christian Church of Pineville and had been a school teacher for over 38 years. She is survived by the following member of her family, her husband Clarence (Peanut) Peace, 1 son & daughter in law, Glen & Patricia Peace, 2 brothers & sisters in laws Floyd & Edna Stuart, David & Mary Stuart, 3 grandchildren Gretchen, Donovan, and Gavin Peace and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services were held 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 20, 2005 at the Creech-Durham Funeral Home chapel of Pineville, with Rev. C.H. Dudley presiding music was provided by Virginia Fraley, interment followed in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens Middlesboro, KY.  Pallbearers were men of the First Christian Church of Pineville.  Visitation for Mrs. Peace was 6-9 Saturday at the Creech-Durham Funeral Home which was in charge of arrangements.

Peace, Harry Richard -79, of Harrogate, TN, age 79, passed away on October 24, 2005 at the Claiborne County Hospital. He was born in Pineville on November 8, 1925, the son of the late Alonzo and Carrie Moss Page Peace. He was a member of the West Pineville Baptist Church and had attended the Shawanee Baptist Church. He had retired from the Kentucky Utility Power Plant in Pineville and was a member of the Bell Masonic Lodge #691 and the American Legion Post # 10, Pineville. He had served in the United States Navy during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Potter Peace, brothers, James L. Peace and Billy Peace. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Rosa Peace of Pineville, granddaughters, Tommie Lynn Goodin of Pineville, Lola Onkst of Lexington and Beth Johnson and her husband, Stacy, of Richmond; great-granddaughters, Haley Marie Goodin, Ethel Page Johnson and Lela Taylor Johnson of Richmond; sister, Tommie Lou Walters of West Palm Beach, FL and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Services were Thursday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. John Gibbons. Burial was in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery, Pineville. Pallbearers were retired KU Power Plant Employees. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class at Shawanee Baptist Church. The Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, was in charge of arrangements.

Peavley, James Marvin “Chief” -74, of Pineville passed away on Friday, July 1, 2005 at his home. He was born in Flat Lick on May 1, 1931 the son of the late James and Violet Mays Peavley. He was a retired coal miner and had worked at the Middlesboro Tannery. He was a member of the Old Flat Lick Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Smith Peavley whom he married on March 18, 1967; brother, McCoy Peavley of Flat Lick, sister-in-law, Haiwatha Peavley of Detroit; nephews, Derrick Peavley and Derand Peavley of Inkster, MI; great-nieces and nephew, Derand Peavley, Jr., Danielle Peavley and Desiree Peavley and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Evangelist Michael Ferguson. Burial was in the Rosenwald Cemetery at Barbourville. Pallbearers were family and friends. The Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, was in charge of arrangements.

Perry, Augustus E.- of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2005. He was born in Chenoa, KY, the son of Arsbor and Myra Hatmaker Perry. He was a decorated WWII veteran, having served in a B-17 bomber crew with the Eighth Air Force in England. Mr. Perry began his employment in Oak Ridge at the Y-12 Plant in 1951 and retired as a Department Head in Product Certification in 1984. He loved reading, studying the Civil War era and historical biography. He was also an avid golfer and member of the Oak Ridge Country Club. Mr. Perry is survived by: his wife, Wilma Dean Perry of Oak Ridge; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mike Simonson of Knoxville; and brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Norma Jean Perry of Whitley City, KY. Graveside services and burial will be private. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Mission of Hope, PO Box 22312, Knoxville, TN 37933-0312. Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge handled the arrangements.

Phillippi,  June Carroll - of Knoxville, TN. passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was born at Baxter, Ky., and moved to Pineville as a child. A graduate of Bowling Green College, she held a degree in business. She married Gene (Ulys E. ) Phillippi in 1942, and continued to live in Pineville, while her husband was overseas. During her years in Pineville, she belonged to a professional women's club. She and her husband moved to Knoxville in 1950, and she became an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and was previous member of First Christian Churches in Knoxville and Pineville. She was also a member of the Ossoli Circle Women's Club, Knoxville Symphony League, and the Knoxville Museum of Art. She was an avid reader and bridge player. Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, Jack and Theodosia Carroll; sisters, Thelma Carroll, Lois Helen Carroll Kennedy, and Ruth Carroll; uncle, Bradley Carroll; and great-nephew, Andrew Howick. Survivors include her husband, Gene (Ulys E. ) Phillippi; daughter, Carolyn Raatz; sister-in-law, Kathryn Dodson; brother-in-law, LeRoy Kennedy; nephews, Dan Phillippi. Bob Phillippi, and Pat Howick; nieces, Karen Howick, Martha Kennedy, Pam Phillippi, and Gay Phillippi; two great-nephews, two great-nieces, and one great-great-niece. She was blessed with many friends to numerous to count. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Eric Murray officiating. A second service will be held at Creech-Durham Funeral Home, Pineville, at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Pineville Memorial Cemetery. PHILPOT, BARRY DEWAYNE - 37 of Barbourville, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2005 as the result of an ATV Accident. He was born in Pineville on September 15, 1967 the son of Bobby Ray and Hazel Laws Philpot. He was a member of the Barbourville Church of God and had been an English teacher at Bell County High School for sixteen years. Survivors include his son, Jared Clinton Ray Philpot, parents, Bobby Ray and Hazel Philpot, brother and sister-in-law, Stephen Ray and Penny Philpot, special niece and nephew, Sheena Nicole and Stephen Cole Philpot, special great-nephew, Travis Ethan Smith, grandmother, Marie Philpot, loving friend, Heather Nolan, aunts and uncles, Henrietta and Johnny Young, Joyce and Carl Miracle, Janice and Clarence Thompson and Eugene and Jessie Philpot; cousins, Karen, Lisa, Jason, Donnie, Rusty, Dusty and Danny; the mother of his son, Melissa Conn, former parents-in-law, Clinton and Joyce Hoskins, special grandparents, Bill and Muriel Hoskins, former sister-in-law, Heather Hoskins and a host of other relatives and friends. Powers, Lorraine - of Oak Ridge died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, after a courageous battle with cancer, her family said. Born in Pruden, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Bessie Loveday and grew up in Oliver Springs and Fonde, Ky. She taught elementary school in Pruden before moving to Oak Ridge in 1953 with her husband, Chester Powers, and their two children. She and her family joined Robertsville Baptist Church in 1954, and she remained an active member, teaching Sunday School and serving on various church committees. She was particularly committed to the church's mission work through the Women's Missionary Union and represented the church at state and national conventions. Mrs. Powers was employed at Loveman's Department Store and was a former owner and operator of Hilltop Laundromat. In the 1960s, she answered a call to assist the Oak Ridge city school system as a bus driver and developed many long lasting relationships with the students she served. Soon afterwards she, joined OR TEC, where she was employed until her retirement in 1991. According to her family, her life centered on her family, her faith, her friends, and her country. She is remembered for her ability to find the good in everyone, and for providing encouragement to those who were burdened with the struggles of life. Her loving joyous smile and warm hugs are treasured by all those who knew her and her laughter will warm them forever. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, ceramics, and various crafts. She authored "Memories of Fonde," a five-volume collection of memories of former Fonde, Ky., residents, which is housed in the Bell County Kentucky Historic Society. She was a devoted University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge High School Wildcat fan, and committed to the mission of the Boys Club of Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Paul Loveday, and her son-in-law, Kenny Weaver. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Powers is survived by her children, Carol Powers Weaver of Knoxville and James Powers of Oak Ridge; two grandchildren, Ashley Weaver and Aaron Weaver, both of Knoxville; her sister and brother-in-law, Faye Loveday Yakel and Harry Yakel of Clinton; a nephew, Tommy Roseberry of Clinton; and a niece, Paula Renee Porier and her husband, Tracy, of Knoxville. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at Robertsville Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Robertsville Baptist Church, 251 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or to the Boys Club of Oak Ridge, P.O. Box 402, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

PRESNELL, DEBRA KAY -MIDDLESBORO - Debra Kay Presnell, 30, passed away Tuesday Jan. 17, 2006, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 6, 1975 in Middlesboro, the daughter of Jerry Slusher and Debbie Gaylor Slusher who survive. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Woodrow and EIsie Slusher, and the Rev. Archie and Gladys Gaylor. Survivors include the following members of her family: son, Larry Presnell, Middlesboro; mother, Debbie Slusher, Middlesboro; father, Jerry Slusher, Middlesboro; sister, Kelly Slusher, Middlesboro; aunts, Cathy Sturgill, Donna Gaylor, Geneva Higginbothom, Sandra Edwards, Brenda Johnson, Gayle Saylor, Geraldine Brock, Linda Brook, Judy Duffleld, and Connie Gent; uncles, Adam Gaylor, Curt and Don Slusher; special friends, Andy Carmony, Greg Poindexter, Bill and Sue Mason, and Tonya Earle. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Creech Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph Tennyson presiding.Music will be provided by Alvie Cunningham. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Prettyman, Mildred Carnes -81, formerly of Winchester, widow of Andrew Milton Prettyman, died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at her son's home in Hopkinsville. A native of Bell County, she was daughter of the late John Riley and Etta Webb Carnes. She was a homemaker, ga member of the Church God, a graduate of the University of Kentucky where she was a member of the Alpha Z Delta Sorority and a graduate of the former Bethel Women's College. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Alethia Prettyman, Hopkinsville, Jonathan and Margie Prettyman, Lexington; a daughter and son-in-law, Anetta P. and Garlan Nichols, Wyoming, Mich.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Dunn, Port Arthur, Texas; two nieces, and a nephew. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Scobee Funeral Home by Jim O'Brien. Burial was in Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were Michael Nichols, Andrew Nichols, Garlan Nichols Jr., John Eric Nichols, Corey Short and Garlan Nichols; honorary, Tara Nichols Short and Anetta Nichols.

Price, Janice Sue Brummett -54, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin.  She was born in Clear Creek, KY on September 19, 1950 the daughter of the late James Edward and Goldie Defevers Brummett.  She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Robert Price and his special friend, Kristie Haun and her daughter Shayla of Middlesboro; sisters, Beverly and David Jones of Pineville, Sherrell and Lawrence Williams of Dayhoit; brothers, Robert and Sharron Brummett of Lima, OH; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 2 at the Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Gibson and Rev. Teddy Collins.  Interment was in the Peavley Cemetery at Clear Creek.  Pallbearers were Family and Friends. The family received friends Tuesday from 6 until 9 P.M. at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.
