Sandefur, Mrs. Louetta (Moore)
of Harrogate,
, Tenn. ,age 79, of the Pump Springs community, ceased from her earthly labors
on Thursday, July 14, 2005, at the Laurel Manor Nursing Home. She was born on
March 31, 1926, in Middlesboro, Ky. to John Eph Moore and wife Harriett Smith
Moore. She was a retiree of 31 years, working at the Claibome County Hospital and
Nursing Home, one that was faithful and dedicated in her caring for the elderly
and sick. She always enjoyed life and carried a smile on her face, which was
evident in her love and devotion to the welfare of her patients. She was highly
respected, loved and honored by her co-workers and associates through the years
of employment. Even in her illness she could smile, many times she would say,
there is no need for complaints. Her life motto was a good laugh was better than
medicine. She loved the existence of nature and its creator. The Spring was her
favorite season, she being an avid gardener. Her many varieties of flowers were
her passion and many times she would give a starting to anyone that asked. Her
favorite quotation was, "I want roses while I live!" She loved her family very
much and was attentive to their needs. Her compassion for friends and neighbors
was also evident. If you were at her house she would ask you to have something
to eat. Always she would place the needs and desires of others before her own.
She loved life and the act of doing good. She professed faith in the Lord at an
early age at Pine Hill Baptist Church and later became a member at Riverview
Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents: John Eph and
Harriett Smith Moore; grandson, raised as a son and brother: E.J. Carmack;
brothers: Troy, Walter and Earl James Moore; sisters: Gladys Carmack, Irene
Sandefur Whitaker, Juanita Lovell Hensley and Beatrice Baker
She is survived by her husband: Clyde Sandefur, her
loving, faithful, devoted husband of 58 years of the Pump Springs community;
sons: Clyde Jr. and wife Phyllis Crockett Sandefur of Pump Springs, Harrogate,
Tenn.; John Eph and wife Jeanie McCallister Sandefur of Rogersville, Tenn.;
grandchildren: Matthew Todd and wife Nicole Cook Sandefur of Pump Springs,
Harrogate; Jennifer Elicia and husband Roy Christopher Yonts of Pikeville, Ky.;
John Eric and Dustin Andrew Sandefur of Rogersville, Tenn.; great grandchildren:

faithful devotion to the care and well being of her sister in sickness and
through life; special friend: Lester Asberry of Tazewell, Tenn.; sister-in-law:
Gracie Southern Moore of Tazewell, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews, and a host
of family, friends, and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7
p.m. Saturday July 16, 2005 at the Claibome Funeral Home with funeral services
to follow at 7 p.m. with Bro. Matthew Sandefur, Bro. Jerry Peck Jr., and Bro.
David Billingsley officiating. Music provided by The Blood Bought Way, Brenda
Shoffner, Mark Fultz, accompanied by Malcolm and Connie Dykes. Graveside
services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Riverview
Cemetery. Pallbearers will be sons, grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary

Saylor, John B. Sr.-,
age 77, of Centerville, Ind. died Monday, October 14, 2002 at Reid Hospital. He
was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Fields, Ky., to Charley and Ida Rose Knuckles Saylor
and had been a resident of this area since 1947. He was a self-employed
businessman and former machinist for AVCO. Mr. Saylor was an Army veteran of
World War II and was a member of the Centerville American Legion. He attended
Southview Church of the Nazarene and was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife, Irene C. Saylor, whom he married April 2. 1955; one
daughter Vickie D. Isaacs and her husband Edward of Richmond; one son, John B.
Saylor, Jr. of chapel Hill, NC; three grandchildren, Laura, Jennifer and Jacob,
all of Richmond; two brothers, Richard D. Salyor and Arnold J. Saylor, both of
Pineville, Ky.; two sisters Dorothy Brock of Beverly, Ky., and Elsie Schaffer of
Liberty; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and
three brothers, Clyde, Oliver and Charles. Funeral services for John B. Saylor,
Sr.. will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct 17, 2002, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home,
790 National Road W., Richmond, Ind., with Rev Paul Mingus and Rev Bill Shuler
officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from
4 to 9 p.m. at Doan & Mills Funeral Home.

Saylor, Richard D. -76, of Pineville, died on Saturday, May 24,
2003 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born at Red Bird on
February 27, 1927 a son of the late Charlie and Ida Rose Knuckles Saylor.
He was a Baptist, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Masonic Order. He
had retired from the United States Army after 25 years of service and was a
retired Ford Motor Company, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his
parents, his first wife, Helen Saylor and brothers, Clyde, Oliver, Charles
and J.B. Saylor. Survivors include his wife Greta Jo Morris Saylor,
children, Wanda and Fred Foister, Richard Saylor Jr., Ronnie and Gerry
Saylor, Glenda and Mack Mitchum and Candice Britt Fornatoro; grandchildren,
Cerina Foister, Brandy Carnes, Lisa Marie Colwell, Rachel Ann Bradshaw,
Regina Silvers, April Saylor and Conor Britt; great-grandchildren, Hannah
and Mackinsie Napier, Cody, Brittney and Austin Carnes, Cameron and Colin
Colwell and Bailey Bradshaw; brother, Arnold J. Saylor; sisters, Dorothy
Brock and Elsie Schaffer; very special friend Luther Taylor and a host of

Shelton, Frieda
L. 83, of Harlan, formerly of Wallsend, passed away on Tuesday,
October 18, 2005 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born in
Flat Lick, KY on March 18, 1922, the daughter of the late Andrew “Andy” and
Pearl Bailey Shelton. She was a Baptist and had been a homemaker. In addition
to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Hatfield,
brothers, Raymond Shelton and Jack Shelton. Survivors include her sister, Gwen
Ralston and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services
were Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. David Peters.
Burial was in the Barbourville Cemetery, Barbourville. Pallbearers were family

was born in Hazard, Ky on July 6,1908, She was preceded in death by her husband
John L. Shepherd. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Middlesboro
for over 60 years. Survivors include Two Sons and Daughter-in-law, R.H. and
Betty Shepherd of Pensacola ,Florida, J. L. and Elise Shepherd of Knoxville,
Tenn. And one Sister-in-law, Louise McGinnis of Maryville, Tenn. 6 Grandchildren

September 24th 2005. Born September 6, 1928 in Harrogate, Tennessee. The son of
the late Junas Roy Shoffner and Celia Shoffner Woodby. He was know throughout
the aviation world and was an avid pilot as well as being a successful business

SIMPSON, CHARLES JR.Services are being
conducted in loving memory of Charles Simpson, Jr. a resident of Fourmile,
Kentucky who passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Pineville Community
Hospital. He was born August 23, 1953 in Bell Co. Kentucky, the son of the late
Charles Simpson Sr. and Edna Lee Miller Simpson. He was a coal miner. Other
than his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Paul Simpson,
nephew Gary Phillip Brown, and brother-in-law, Gary Hinkle. At the time of his
death he was 51 years old. He is survived by the following members of his

Pineville, formerly of Richmond, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2005 at
her daughter’s home. She was born on April 24, 1919 in Simms Fork the daughter
of the late Alec and Kitty Napier. She was member of the Cherry Street Church of
God and had been a clerk at the Methodist Mountain Mission until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by he husband, Wesley

Ruby -a resident of Standford, KY formally of Pineville, KY who
passed away Sunday June 26, 2005 at the Ft. Logan Hospital in Standford, KY. She
was born February 17, 1922 in Jenson, KY the daughter of the late Thomas L.
Jones, and Sarah Cox Jones. She was a believer in the Holiness Faith, other
than her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Onvia Sinkhorn, Mary
Logan, Marie Jordan, Goldie Lee and Leonia Jones, brother Lendsey Jones. At the
time of her death she was 83 years old. She is survived by the following members
of her family. Her husband of 64 years David Sinkhorn, 1 daughter & son-on-law
Carolyn Faye & Robert Muse, 4 grandchildren Tresa Kilby, Delbert Asher, Renee
Congar, Georgianni Brock, and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews

Sizemore, Clara
-87, of Stoney Fork, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at
the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born in Stoney Fork on May 11, 1915,
a daughter of the late Carlo “Buddy” and Edna Jones Helton. She was a very
active member of Calvary Chapel Pentecostal Church. She had worked at Sizemore
Grocery Store at Stoney Fork for many years and was a member of the Stoney Fork
Homemaker Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Mike Sizemore, children, Pearl, Roy and Arville Sizemore; grandson
Eddie Dwayne Johnson; brothers and sisters, Elcie Helton, Rachel Helton, Riva
Wix, Logan Helton, Jonas Helton, Junior Helton and Bob Helton. Survivors include
her children, Della Mae and Robert Fuquay of Indianapolis, IN and Nelson and
Judy Sizemore of Stoney Fork; seventeen grandchildren; twenty nine great
grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jessie Helton, Elva Helton, John Helton,
Wayland Helton, Sylvia Collins and Wanda Belcher and a host of nieces, nephews

Sizemore, Johnny - was called to be with the Lord
Sunday August 14, 2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born August

Slusher, Arthur
-56, of Lima, died Friday, 12:30p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center,
Lima Ohio. He was born on March 20, 1947 in Tinsley, Kentucky to Jess and
Georgia Ann Lockard Slusher who preceded him in death. He was formerly married
to Sally Dillon Heck and Ima Thomas Slusher. He is father of a son: Bryan (Dawn)
Slusher of Lima, a daughter Jessica (Mark) Paliscak of Scottsdale, AZ, a
stepdaughter, Natalie (Les) Handshoe Cooper of California, and six
grandchildren: Page, Dilon, Summer and Autumn Slusher, and Zachary and Olivia
Paliscak. Two brothers: Dwane (Sylvia) Slusher of Alger, Jerry (Linda) Slusher
of Lima. Two sisters: Janet Mason of Pineville, KY, and Mary Elizabeth (Mickey)
Jones of Pineville, KY. He had a sister Joyce Slusher who also preceded him in
death. Arthur was employed since 1972 at the Ford Motor Company currently
working in the Dyno Area. He was a member of the Lima Missionary Baptist
Church. Funeral services for Mr. Slusher were 11:00 AM, Monday, September 1,
2003 at the Lima Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Terry Brock will officiate
with burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery.

Creek the daughter of the late Arnold and Ethel Rhymer Miracle. She was a

the Peavely Cemetery at Harmony. Pallbearers were Pineville Community Hospital

SMITH, BILLIE JO, 71, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Arjay, Ky., passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 in Indianapolis, Ind. She was
born April 26, 1930, in Clearfield, Tenn., the daughter of the late James Bowman and Delilah Murray Bowman. She believed in the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother James L. Bowman. Survivors include sons Jimmy Douglas Smith and Teddy
Wayne Smith; daughters Patricia Ann Little, Brenda Jean Morgan, Barbara Lynn Haag, and Tammy Sue Goss, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother

Smith, Brenda
Roark age 63 of Boone Height was born on August 13, 1941 in
Bell County. She was a daughter of the late Oscar and Mattie Roark. Mrs. Smith
died, Saturday, February 12, 2005 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in
Corbin. Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist Faith. She was a devoted homemaker and
mother. On December 21, 1954, she united in married with T.J. Smith. She was
preceded in death by three sisters, Beulah Roark, Nadine Stewart, Arlena Stewart
and a brother Harold Roark. Surviving Mrs. Smith is her husband, T.J. of Boone
Height; her sons; Harold Smith and wife Maudine Peggy, Thomas Joe Smith and
Flancee’, Vinnie Mills of Barbourville; Marty Dewayne Smith and wife Noria of
Stinking Creek; Tony Smith and wife Kim of London; her loving grandchildren;
Jennifer Wyatt and Husband Matt of London; Brandon and Sonny Smith; her sisters;
Carrie Lowe, Una Charlton, Donna V. Wagner, Junaita Gary and husband Ballard All
of Boone Height; Elsie King of Jonesboro, Indiana; Mrs. Smith will be sadly
missed by nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services for Brenda Roark Smith
was conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at
2:00 p.m. with Rev. Denvil Taylor and Rev. Jimmy Lee Officiating. Interment was
in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers were family and friends, David Gray,
Chris Gary, Joe Stewart, Dewayne Ayer, Steven Ayer and Ricky Gibson. The Smith
Family received friends at the Hopper Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00
until 9:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the funeral hour. Hopper
Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

-33, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional
Hospital. Born March 2, 1972, in Pineville, he was the son of Dewey “Tubby”
Smith and Jeri Sue Lamb Smith. He was employed at Dura -Line Corporation of
Middlesboro. Brian believed and professed Jesus Chirst as his personal Lord and
Savior. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Beth H. Lamb, Homer Lamb,
and Mellburn and Edith Smith. Survivors include his parents, Jeri-Sue Smith and

Smith, Edward Joseph "Ed" -59, of
Pineville-passed away Monday, July 4, 2005, at the East Tennessee Baptist
Hospital. He was born in Pineville on October 13, 1945, a son of the late Twila
Black Daugherty and Joseph Smith. A graduate of the University of Kentucky, he
was a Baptist, had served in the Marines during the Vietnam War, and had been a
Pineville City Police Officer for many years. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by a son, Andrew Smith. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne
Giles Smith; brothers Robert and Otis Smith; sisters, Margaret Smith and Elaine
Philpot; children, Lynn Fox, David Smith, Jessica Smith, Paul Smith, Nicholas

SMITH, JESSIE -Services were conducted in Loving
Memory of Jessie Smith, a resident of Arjay, KY who passed away Sat. March 5,
2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital.He was born April 23, 1919 in Bell Co.
KY the son of the late Harvey Smith and Millie Broughton Smith. He was a member
of the Green Camp Pentecostal Church. He was a retired U.M.W.A. Coal Miner.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by daughter Ethel Warren,
sisters, Della Saylor, Mary Smith, Leighann Lewis, brothers Charlie Smith,
Delbert Smith, Gilbert Smith, Tommy Lewis and Polly Ward. At the time of his
death he was 85 years old, he is survived by the following members of his
family: 2 sons Custer Ray Smith, Joe & Brenda Smith; 8 daughters Shirley & Fred
Helton, Ollie & Vernon Stewart, Louise & Lester Saylor, Virginia & Kenneth
Carnes, Minnie & Edward Spanski, Lola & Dewey Saylor, Elsie & Gary Jones, Donna
& Mike Mills; 1 brother Robert & Viola Lewis; 3 sisters Emma Jean Shepard,
Virgie & Ray Bailey, Birdie & Clyde Reeder and a host of other relatives and
friends.Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 8, 2005 at the
Creech-Durham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Wagner and Jerry Hodge
speaking, music provided by the Green Camp Pentecostal Church singers. Burial
followed in the Big Jim Cemetery, Arjay, KY. Pallbearers were grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Hodge and Jim Gambrel.

Helena Smith, nee Stewart, age 79 of Lincoln Park, Michigan, formerly of
Pineville, Kentucky passed away peacefully, Monday, August 16, 2005. She was
born June 5, 1927 in Pineville, Kentucky to Thomas and Edna Stewart. Beloved
wife of the late Donald, beloved mother of Donald Jr. (Tony), Donetta (Dennis),
Francis and Steven, loving grandmother to Michael and Tara, loving
great-grandmother to Jacob, dear sister to Bryan Stewart and deceased members of
the Stewart family, fond aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews. Dear sister-in-law to Frank (Sandy) Smith, William (Pat) Smith
and Margaret Ann. Services will be Saturday, September 10, 2005, graveside at

Stillings, Joan Marie -62, of Middlesboro,
left us on Sunday, July 3, 2005, on her 62nd birthday in Middlesboro. She was
born in 1943, and was the daughter of the late Karl Willard and Addie Lee
Campbell. She had been a member of St. Julians Catholic Church since 1981.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in death by her brother
Karl Douglas Campbell; grandparents, Lon Monroe and Maude Marie Campbell, and
Wint and Ollie Mae Carmony. Survivors include her loving husband, Tony Stillings;
daughters, Anna Marie Reece, Karla Jo Swim, Linda Leigh Estes; and a very
special niece, Danna Lee Campbell Smith; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A
graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Hurst
