TAYLOR, Albert -Arjay - - Mr. Albert TAYLOR, age 90, a resident of Arjay, Kentucky passed away Sunday, September 6, 1992, at the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital in Middlesboro, Kentucky.He was born June 29, 1902 in Lerose, Kentucky to the Late William TAYLOR and Laura SLATER*.  He was a member of the White Mountain Pentecostal Church and was a president of the local union of UMWA.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Goldie KING, a sister, Ida VAUGHN, and four brothers, Ike, Thomas, Edison and Floyd TAYLOR.Left to mourn his passing are the following members of his family:  his wife, Carrie TAYLOR, Arjay, Kentucky; three daughters, Lola LAWSON, Dayton, Ohio; Betty Jo BISHOP, Arjay, Kentucky; Beulah Faye PHILLIPS, Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Also surviving is one sister:  Cordia CARPENTER, Cawood, Kentucky.   Nine grandchilden, eighteen great grand chldren and nine great great grandchildren also survive.Services for Mr. TAYLOR were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. George NEAL and Gary WAGNER officiating.  Burial followed in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Middlesboro, KY.  Pallbearers were friends of the family.    Durham Funeral Hme was in charge of arrangements.

TAYLOR, ALENA MARIE -MIDDLESBORO - Alena Marie Taylor, Infant, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at East Tennessee Children's Hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 2005, in Middlesboro, the daughter of Garrett Taylor Jr. and Billy Marie Lawson Taylor of Middlesboro. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Dalton Taylor, Middlesboro; maternal grandmother, Kathy Grubbs, Middlesboro; paternal grandparents, Garrett Taylor Sr. of Fourmile, and Elizabeth Taylor, Fourmile; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Engle presiding. Music will be provided by Marvin Taylor. Interment will be in Pinelawn Memorial Gardens at East Pineville. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home, Pineville, which is in charge of arrangements.

Taylor,  Elmer Lee -age 84 of Pilot Knob Cemetery Rd., passed away May 2, 2005 at Berea Hospital. Elmer was born in Bell County, Kentucky to the late William Garrison and Bettie Emery Taylor. He is a retired security officer and a US Navy veteran of WWII and he was a member of the Cleveland Frost Post of the American Legion. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Oda Bullins Taylor, sisters Marie Patterson, Violet Brock, Alvalee Taylor and Bertha Taylor. Elmer is survived by his children: Karen (Michael) Thacker of Cincinnati, OH, Tammy Taylor of Berea, Amy (Robert) Shouse of Berea, Kenneth (Donna) Taylor of Florida and Rodney (Robynn) Taylor of Hamilton, OH. Brothers and sisters Raba Baker, Frederick Taylor, Virginia Wallen, Delphine Wells, Clifford Taylor, Charles Taylor, Stacy Taylor, Clarence Taylor and Jeanette Lawson-Flint. Grandchildren: Rebecca (Michael) Sage, Jennifer (Chad) Randolph, Charles Thacker, Matthew Thacker, Ashley Thacker, Kenneth Thacker Jr. Melissa Taylor, Cody Taylor, Amber Taylor, Branden Shouse and Kaylee Shouse. Great Grandchildren: Katherine Randolph and Kelsey Randolph. Funeral services were Thursday May 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakes Funeral Home. Rev. Frederick Taylor officiated the services and burial followed in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Pallbearers were be Rodney Taylor, Charles Michael Thacker, Matthew Thacker, Charles Taylor, Clarence Taylor, Stacy Taylor and Cody Taylor. Honorary bearers were Branden Shouse, Clifford Taylor, Chad Randolph, Mike Thacker, Michael Sage and Robert Hubbard. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Lakes Funeral Home.

TAYLOR, Elsie MILLS -age 74, a resident of Arjay, KY, passed away Monday, December 7, 1987 at her home. She was born March 31, 1913 in Knox County, KY, the daughter of the late Jim MILLS and Elizabeth GRAY MILLS.  She believed in the Holiness faith. She is survived by one son, Vanatory TAYLOR, Arjay; four sisters:  Mrs. Bertha BARGO, Grays, KY; Mrs. Lillie TOLES, Mrs. Millie NEAL and Mrs. Roberts MILLS, all of Arjay; two brothers, Bricy MILLS and Fred MILLS, both of Grays, five grandchildren. Services for Mrs. TAYLOR were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 1987 at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George NEAL.  Burial followed in the White Mountain Cemetery, Arjay, KY.  Friends of the family served as pallbearers.Durham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

TAYLOR, GARRETT-  Former Magistrate, School Board Member Dies After Long Illness at Home ______1954 82 years old, died Thursday, September 16, at his home on Yellow Creek after a long illness.  He was born in Knox County, November 23, 1872, the son of Harrison and Mary TAYLOR and came to Bell County in 1895.  Here he lived the remainder of his life.  He was prominent in the political and business life in Pineville and Bell County until ill health forced him to retire several years ago.  During his life here he was a Bell County magistrate for more than 20 years and a member of the Bell County Board of Education for 16 years. He is survived by four sons, Charles TAYLOR of Pineville, Clyde TAYLOR of Middlesboro; Harrison TAYLOR of Dayton, Ohio, and Alfred TAYLOR of Ogden, Utah; three daughters, Mrs. Edna PEACE of Middlesboro; Mrs. Ruby TAYLOR of Corbin and Mrs. Winnie HEATHERLY of LaFollette, Tennessee; two brothers, John TAYLOR of Norfolk, Virginia, Henry TAYLOR of Louisville; sisters, Mrs. Margaret OWENS of Lexington; Mrs. Alice CREEKBAUM of Lexington, Mrs. America LOCKE of Cary and Pearl TAYLOR of Pathfork and 19 grandchildren.Funeral services were held at the home on Yellow Creek Saturday afternoon with the Rev. H. M. SPARKS officiating.Pallbears were Delphus MASON, William BUSSELL, Mendell COX, Theopholius GREEN, Clifford HOSKINS, Matt BAKER, Nath ENSOR, Charlie SMITH, Edgar WILSON, Artie HURST and Dave WILSON. Burial was in the family cemetery at Yellow Creek with Durham Funeral Home in charge.

Taylor, Geraldine Hubbard -49, of Arjay, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2005 at the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital.  She was born in Arjay on October 18, 1956 the daughter of Hobart and Gracie Gambrel Hubbard.  She was a member of the Straight Creek Pentecost Holiness Church.  She had been the Secretary Chief for the Department of Family and Children in Pineville. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Jesse Lee Taylor, children, Laura Jean Taylor, Matthew Taylor and wife Shannon, Amanda Grace Taylor, Jessica Ann Taylor and Joseph Lee Taylor; grandson Matthew Blake Taylor, brothers, Arthur Hubbard, Dewey Hubbard, Leonard Hubbard, Virgil Hubbard and Dale Hubbard; mother-in-law, Ethel Brock Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Services were at the Straight Creek Pentecost Holiness Church with Rev. George Neal and Rev. David Howard, Burial was in the Saylor Cemetery at Brock Hollow.  Pallbearers were family and friends. The family received friends from 6 until 9 PM Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.

He was born September 11, 1929 in Harlan County, KY, the son of the late Wilburn TAYLOR and Bertha SMITH TAYLOR.  He was a retired coal miner and believed in the Holiness faith. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katherine E. TAYLOR, Pathfork, KY; one son, Shawn TAYLOR, Pathfork, KY; one stepson, Terry J. TAYLOR, Hazel BAKER -a resident of Richmond, KY, passed away Thursday, September 13, 1990 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, KY.She was born January 20, 1909 in Rockcastle County, the daughter of the late Thomas BAKER and Betty CASH BAKER.  She was a retired school teacher after having taught in the Bell County School System for over 40 years.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mrs. Charles TAYLOR.  Left to mourn her passing are the following members of her family:  one daughter, Mrs. Ruth HEDL, Louisville, KY; one brother, Mr. Shirley BAKER and one sister, Mrs. Ethel CAMPBELL, both of Richmond, KY; two grandchildren.Services for Mrs. TAYLOR were conducted Sunday, September 16, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. at the Durham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thompson, Hubert L. -60, of Stoney Fork, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born April 27, 1945 in Stoney Fork the son of Rice Thompson and the late Lora Whitehead Thompson. He was a member of the Laurel Branch Pentecostal Church and had been an electrician, carpenter and was a retired coal miner. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lora Thompson, son, Hubert “Jay” Thompson, Jr. and a sister, Thelma Thompson. Survivors include his wife of six years, Cheryl Baker Thompson, sons, Timothy Thompson and Eddie Wayne Thompson, grandchildren, Crystal, Megan, Timmy, Derrick and Jayleah Thompson, brothers and sisters, Jimmy Thompson, Theo Thompson, Brenda Belcher, Linda Blair, Sandra Blevins, Violet Humble, Hazel White and Dorothy Whitt; he was expecting his first great-grandchild in September and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services were Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Herstel Belcher and Rev. Teddy Brock. Music will be by Friends. Burial was in the Thompson Cemetery at Stoney Fork. Thompson, Josephine Tina -Findlay, Ohio - 69, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, in Findlay. Born Nov. 5, 1935, in Pineville, she was the daughter of the late Mac Harris and Nancy Jones. She lived in Kentucky for 25 years, and spent the remainder of her natural life in Findlay. She was married to Noah Thompson faithfully for 29 years. He passed away in 1993 of cancer, and she never remarried. She was a most loving mother to three children, who survive, Noah Thompson Jr., Pineville, Joyce Garton, Findlay, Joann Courtney, Findlay; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and the following brothers and sisters, Audry Hoskins, James Harris, and Cleston Harris. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Mount Mary Baptist Church (old Yellow Hill) on Old Pineville Pike (old 25E) in Middlesboro. Burial will be in God's Field Cemetery at Pittmans Creek at Calvin. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Mount Mary Baptist Church.Arrangements by Shumate Funeral Home, Middlesboro.

Thompson, Cordia Winnifred Begley -age 87, passed away Sept. 21, 2006, at Hospice Alive in Nashville, Tenn. She succumbed after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Mrs. Thompson was born on Dec. 20, 1918, in Bell County, Ky. She is the daughter of the late George and Gertrude Partin Begley. She was a graduate of Bell County High School and Union College in Kentucky. She began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Laurel Fork, Ky., in 1941. After the outbreak of World War II, she moved to Ypsilanti, Mich., to work in a Ford defense plant. She married Boyd Thompson in Kentucky after he returned from active duty in the European Theater. The couple then moved to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to work on the Manhattan Project. In 1956, Mrs. Thompson returned to teaching at the Clinton city school system, retiring in the 1970s. She was a member of the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association and a long-time member of Glenwood Baptist Church, where she served as president of her Sunday School class and volunteered to work in the church library. She enjoyed travel, sewing, theater, poetry and visiting with her grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Boyd Thompson; two brothers, Charles Phillip and Bill Begley; and one sister, Myrtle Begley Burbage. She is survived by two sisters, Sue Stooksbury of Clinton, Tenn., and Frances Morris of Pineville, Ky.; one brother, Oscar Douglas (Mary) Begley of Madisonville, Tenn.; two daughters, Boydie Lynn (Thom) Smith of Nashville, Tenn., and Marsha Hope (Roger) Dotson of Manchester, Tenn.,; three grandchildren Matthew Aaron (Brandy) Smith of Sweetwater, Tenn., and Amber Victoria Dotson and John Cord Dotson, both of Manchester, Tenn.; and one great-grandson, Riley Aaron Smith of Sweetwater, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge with a funeral following at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Herbert Lee officiating. Mrs. Thompson will then be transported to Arnett-Steele Funeral Home in Pineville, Ky., where the family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Alive Hospice of St. Thomas or to the Vanderbilt Medical Research Center for Lung Cancer.

Todd, William Edward -74 of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Fairborn, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007, in Orlando Hospital East. William was born Oct. 24, 1932, in Painesville, Ky. Survivors include his children; daughters, Linda Sue (Todd) Doyle, Springfield, Ohio and Judith Ann (Todd) Wolf, Los Angeles, Calif.; sons, William Douglas Todd, Kenton, Ohio, Ricky Allaen Todd, Orlando, Fla., and William Edward Todd, Jr., Dayton; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. TURNER, EDWARD E. - 83, of Tyson Road, Oak Ridge, TN, passed away on June 30, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN. He was born September 6, 1921, in Bell County, KY. He was the son of William Clarence and Laura Clouse Turner of Bell County, KY, who preceded him in death. Mr. Turner served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve for a total of twenty years, beginning with the start of World War II. He proudly served his country in the North African and European Theaters for 48 continuous months during the Second World War. He was in the 83rd Military Police Battalion. When he returned from service in 1945, he married his childhood sweetheart, Cordie Olivia Brooks, also from Bell County, KY. They celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary this past March 23, 2005. He also joined the security department at Y-12 in September, 1945 and retired in 1987 with 42 years company service. He faithfully attended Central Baptist Church, Oak Ridge, was an active member of the Bethel Senior Men's Sunday School Class, and was a founding member and faithful participant of the Central Baptist Caring Center. He was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, and his beautiful roses, clematis, and mums were eagerly awaited and enjoyed by his neighborhood. In addition to his wife, Cordie, he leaves three brothers and three sisters: William Clarence Turner, Jr., Hamilton, OH, Lowell Turner, Pineville, KY, Carl Turner, East Jellico, KY, Mrs. Hazel Watkins, Himyear, KY, and Mrs. Mildred Massingill and Mrs. Marlene Vogel, both of Cincinnati, OH. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma, and a brother, Estill Turner. Funeral services are Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Noon at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Bob Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers are: Scott Turner, Ricky Brooks, JoLynn Watkins, Neil Watkins, Gary Johns, and Charlie Dunn. Honorary Pallbearers are: Virgil Silver, David Jones, Scott Underwood, Paul Miller Tom King, Charlie Jackson, Hoover Green, and Jim Young. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and again on Saturday from 11:00 am until noon at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
