Walls, Connie -age 55 of Jellico passed away May 2 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice at Knoxville. She was born Aug. 15, 1950 at Fonde, KY, the daughter of the late Caryles McCullough and Jean Jones McCullough. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Walls. She is survived by her sons, Jackie McCullough of Lexington, KY, Jimmie McCullough of Frakes, KY; brothers, James McCullough of Frakes, KY, Tony McCullough of Jellico, Larry McCullough of Middlesboro, KY, Danny McCullough of Frakes, KY, David McCullough of Harrodsburg, KY, Anthony McCullough of Middlesboro, KY; several other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held May 5 at the Cox and Son Chapel with the Rev. Steven Perkins officiating. Interment was in the Cumberland Memorial Garden, Corbin, KY. Cox and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ward, Luther -age 88 of Middlesboro, KY passed away Jan. 28 at the Middlesboro Appalachian Hospital in KY. He was a member of Trinity Full Gospel. He was proud to be an American and to serve his country in World War II. He
loved fishing and hunting and had a very loving heart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Wilson Ward; parents, Hile and Savannah McGhee Ward; brothers, Arthur, Henry, Lawrence, Condy and Junior Ward; sisters, Ruby Grubb, Florence Nolan and Beatrice Warren; special friend, Cloria Moore. He is survived by his daughter, Viva Jean Hall of Covington, KY; step daughter, Diana Williams of Middlesboro, KY; grandchildren, Jennifer and Phillip Barnett. Neal, Dustin and Tommy Williams; four great grandchildren. Graveside services will be Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jeff Kersey officiating. The Campbell County Honor Guard will be in charge of the graveside services.

Warren, Dottie K. -53 of Pineville, passed away on Monday, June 06, 2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born in Bell County on June 12, 1951 the daughter of the late Gillis and Mandy Alford Warren. She retired after 30 years as a Registered Nurse at the Pineville Community Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Warren. Survivors include her brother and sisters, Geraldine Warren and Susie Napier, both of Pineville, Bobbie and Randy Manes and Roy Warren, all of Corbin, nieces and nephews, Sue Ann Miracle, David Nichols, Penny Jean Warren, Curtis Warren and Billie Dottie Warren; grand-nieces and nephews, Jennifer Nichols, Mandy Warren, Deborah Warren, McKinsey Warren and Brandon Tate; special friends, Shannon Jefferson and Martha Ferguson. Services were held 2 PM Wednesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Ferguson and Dr. Steve Morgan. Music will be by Mickey Wilder. Burial followed in the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens, Pineville. Pallbearers were family and friends. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Steve Morgan and Dr. Talmadge Hays. The family received friends from 1 until 9 PM Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.

Washington, Richard L. "Puff" -Pineville -  31, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at this home following a sudden illness. He was born in Grand Forks, N.D., on Aug. 16, 1973, the son of Mary Mildred Mays Washington and Ricky Lee Washington Sr. He had been a cook at the Pineville Kentucky Fried Chicken. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, and had served in the U.S. Marines. Survivors include his parents, Mary Washington and Ricky Washington; children, Richard Scott Washington, Andrew Steven Washington, Stacey Nicole Washington, Shiann Lashea Washington and Holly Nicole Washington; brothers and sisters, Darrel Washington, Ricky Washington Jr., Donovan Washington, Tyrone Henson, Tracy Washington and Tanessa Washington; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be at 12 noon Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Cornett presiding. Burial will be in the Tan Yard Cemetery, Barbourville, Ky. Pallbearers will be Donovan Washington, Darrell Washington, Tyrone Henson, Curtis Lawson, Harold Hill and Milton Mays. Watson, Everett -83, of Corbin, formerly of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Pineville on October 29, 1921 the son of the late William and Corda Nicely Watson. He believed in the Baptist Faith. He was a 22 year veteran of the U.S. Army who served in World War II and the Korean War. Watson had been the Assistant Fire Chief for the Pineville Fire Department for over 16 years and the current fire house was named in honor of him. He was a member of the Southeast Kentucky Fire Fighters Hall of Fame and was a Kentucky Colonel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Martha and Junior Brown and a niece-in-law, Kay Brown. Survivors include his sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and John Partin of Corbin and Marie and J.T. Hensley of Pineville, Billy Robbins, Jr., whom he loved as a son, nieces and nephews and their spouses, Kaye and Harrison Middleton of Corbin, Billy Grant Brown of Pineville, Jason and Susan Brown of Pineville and Leigh Ann and Eddie Wilson of London, great-nieces and nephews, Corbin Grant Brown, Ashley Brown, Lauren Wilson, Kyle Wilson, James Michael Brown, Kelly Brown and Jonathan Middleton and special friend, Mattie McGeorge and other relatives and friends. Services were Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. David Peters and Mr. Billy Robbins. Burial was in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery, Pineville. Pallbearers were the Knox County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Roe, Ronnie Gray, Eddie Willis and O.B. Partin. The Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, was in charge of arrangements.

Webb, Hazel  Lee -a resident of Kettle Island, KY who passed away Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Pineville Community Hospital.  She was born June 17, 1919 in Bell County, KY daughter of the late William Wesley Partin and Amanda Wilder Partin.  She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church.  Other than her parents she was preceded in death by husband Virble Webb, son Kenneth Fuller, Jr., daughter Willie Jean Howard and 7 brothers and sisters.  At the time of her death she was 85 years old. She is survived by the following members of her family. Son and daughter in law Marlett & Tammy Webb of New Tazwell, TN; daughter and son in law Phyllis & Phillip Hoskins of Kettle Island, KY; grandchildren Tina Partin of Flatlick, KY, Lee Hoskins of Kettle Island, KY, Allison Hoskins of Kettle Island, KY, Toni Webb of Louisville, KY, Asher Hoskins of Kettle Island, KY, David Webb of New Tazwell, TN, Mark Edward Webb of New Tazwell, TN; four great grandchildren, Derrick Partin, Amber Partin, Natasha Partin, Phillip Asher Hoskins and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Sunday May 22, 2005 at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church,  Fourmile, KY with Rev. Kelly Partin Jr., speaking, music was by Lucy Smith and Bonnie Hoskins.  Burial followed in the Kelly Partin Cemetery,Chenda, KY.  Pallbearers were Lee Hoskins, Asher Hoskins, Jared Smith, Verlin Middleton, Jeff Partin, James Partin and Phillip Asher Hoskins.  Creech-Durham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Welch, Mr. Jay -age 77, a much loved resident of Pineville, Ky., passed away Tuesday, December 2, 1980, at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born October 6, 1903 in Pittsburg, Ky., the son of the late Edward Welch and Jenny Davis Welch.  He was joined in holy matrimony November 11, 1927 at Cumberland Gap, Tennessee to Miss Bertha Barnes, daughter of the late Thomas Frank Barnes and Matilda Francis Barnes. He was formerly a local coal officer, a building inspector for the city of Pineville and former chief of police of the city. He believed in the Holiness Faith. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha Ann Barnes, Pineville; six children, Robert G. Welch of Pensacola, Fla., Donald Welch of Ft. Wayne, Ind.,  Mrs. Jo Ann Bowman of Pineville, Mrs. Dorothy M. Hunter of Pineville, Mrs. Wanda Faye Goodin of Pineville and Charles Edward Welch of Cincinnati, Ohio; one  brother, Frank Welch of Pineville; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Croley of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Mrs. Sarah Davenport of Dayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Welch were held December 4, 1980 at the Church of God of Prophecy, Wallsend, Pineville, Ky.,  with the Reverends Kenneth Lyles and Allen Lord officiating.  Burial followed at the Wallsend Cemetery, Pineville. The pallbearers were Kevin Welch, Mike Bowman, Buddy Hunter, Terry Welch, Gerald Seggett, David Hoskins, Bryant Caudill,  Jr. Wilson, Lester Thompson and Junior Thompson.    Durham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

WHITEHEAD, LOLA MAY-58, Michigan City, died at 4:30 a.m. yesterday (March 11, 1990) at Michigan City Health Care Center. The funeral will be at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial park Cemetery, Hobart, Ind. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday.  Mrs. Whitehead was born Dec. 21, 1931 in Pineville, Ky., the daughter of Lee and Sally Brummett Roach Bailey. she was married in Pineville to Charles Woolum, who died Jan 1, 1980. On Feb. 15, 1986 in Michigan City, she married Kenneth Whitehead, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Pam Woolum and Lynn Lewis, both of Michigan City; six sons, Wayne, Doug, Mark, Luke and Brian Woolum, all of Michigan City, and Terry Woolum, Sulfur, La.; one stepson, Charles A. Whitehead, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; one brother, the Rev. Billy Gene Vaughn, Michigan City; and one sister, Leona Whitehead, Michigan City. A brother, Johnny Bailey is deceased. Mrs. Whitehead was a member of the Full Gospel House of Deliverance Church.

Widner, Robert “Tiny”,Jr., 74, of Central City, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Bell County, Kentucky native was a retired coal minor for Peabody Coal Company and was of the Pentecostal faith.  He was preceded in death by two daughters, Judy and Sudie Marie; five brothers, Liege, Dewey, Alford, Frank and Charles Widner; and two sisters, Ruby Fox and Mary Ruth Widner. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Christine King Widner of Central City; three sons, Jerry Widner and Rodney Widner, both of Beaver Dam and Dewey Widner of Hyden, Kentucky; four daughters, Margaret Smith and Mary Middleton, both of Hyden, Kentucky and Suzanne Johnson of Beaver Dam and Rhonda Lewis of Irvin, Kentucky; four stepsons, Carroll Williams of Greenville and Stevie Williams, David Williams and Joan Cook, all of Beaver Dam; 40 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Widner of Coats, Kentucky; and two sisters, Frances Saylor of Ohio. Services were Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.

She was a long time member of the Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher at Garmeada Missionary Baptist Church, and a Charter and current member of Trinity Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stanley Williams; sister, Cornie A. Hensley; three brothers, Hugh Don Hensley, Layton Hensley and Roy Hensley Survivors include her daughters, Eva Grace (Harold) Crigger, Mary Elizabeth (Hayden) Gibson, Sandy Wade, and Marilyn Mayes (Thomas Mayes); nine grandchildren, Maria (Douglas) Daniels, Teresa (David) Massengill, Charles Steven (Anita) Stepp, Howard David Stepp, William (Janice) Gibson, Susan (Ron) Fitzrandolph, Sandra Lyn Gibson, Wesley Mayes, Stefhanie Alicia Mayes; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Nora Faye Hensley and Billie Pearl Hensley; and a brother Henry Lee Hensley. WOODS, BETTY RAE -Mrs. Betty Rae Woods, 78, entered into rest at Eisenhower Army Medical Center March 2, 2005.  Mrs. Woods was born in Middlesboro, KY and lived in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Colorado, California, Hawaii, Italy, Austria and Georgia.  She attended high school in Pineville, KY., and in her early years worked as a beautician and then a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Virgil Woods of Evans, GA, three grandchildren; Ashley M. Woods of Arizona, Christopher D. Woods and Lauren E. Woods of Savannah, G A. A memorial service celebrating Betty’s life was held in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son, Monday March 7, 2005 at 1:30 pm.  Rev. Ronald Etheredge presided. At a later date, interment of her ashes will be in the Memorial Garden of First Baptist Church of Augusta.  Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Augusta, P.O. Woods, Clyde -82, of Arjay, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2005 at his home. He was born in Field, KY on May 13, 1923 the son of the late Garrett Woods and Martha Brummett. He was a believer in the Holiness faith and had been a coal miner for 27 years before becoming disabled. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa Saylor Woods and brother Arthur Baker. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Addie Graves Woods, son and daughter-in-law, Clyde, Jr. and Virginia Woods, several step-children, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sister and brothers, Ronald and Audrey Brock of Arjay, Clarence and Virgie Brock of Pineville, Dave Brock of Fort Wayne, IN and Nancy and Zenith Collett of Williamsburg and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were Thursday  at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Long and Rev. Farmer Saylor. Burial was in the Woods Family Cemetery at Simms Fork. Pallbearers were family and friends. Woolum, Boyd, of Pineville, age 82, died Sunday, June 18 at his residence. He was native of Straight Creek and son of Kit and China Gambrel Woolum. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Linda Johnson, Arjay; Mrs. Effie Sowder, Artemus; Mrs. Hazel Miller, Pineville; and Mrs. Beulah Moreland, Corbin; two sons, Charles Woolum, Pineville and L. J. Woolum, Richmond, Ind.; a sister Mrs. Bertha Charles, FourMile; five brothers, Henry and Mart Woolum, Pineville; Chester Woolum, Norton, Va., George Woolum, Wheeling, WV., and Mack Woolum, Detroit, 20 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 20 at the Arnett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thea O. Carter officiating. Burial was in Brummett Cemetery, Field. Woolum, L H- 67, 1212 S. Ninth St., died Sunday, June 8, 1997, at his residence after a recent illness. He was born April 17, 1930, in Bell County Ky., to Boyd and Mary Knuckles Woolum and had lived in Richmond since he moved here from Kentucky in 1956.  He retired from Kemper Cabinets as a milling specialist. He attended Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church and was an avid bowler. Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Mayer Woolum, whom he married Fe. 11, 1956; a daughter Patricia J. Smith of Hamilton, Ohio; two sons, Robin J. Woolum of Centerville, Ind., and Leonard J. Woolum of Phoenix; three grandsons; a granddaughter, a sister, Beulah Moreland of Corbin, Ky., nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronald Poisel of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home. WOOLUM, MARY-Mrs. Mary Woolum, 52 years old, died at her home at Field, Sunday after a brief illness. Survivors include her husband, Boyd Woolum; five daughters: Mrs. Linda Johnson, Mrs. Hazel Miller, Mrs. Effie Souders, Mrs. Beulah Moreland and Mrs. Cordie Napier, all of Field; and two sons, Jay and Charles Woolum of Field. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Ira Wilson, of Beverly and burial followed in the Knuckles Cemetery under direction of N. T. Arnett & Son.
