Shannon, Thomas
His will can be found in Lincoln County, Book E, Page 79. It was probated September 15, 1812 and reads as follows:
In the name of God I Thomas Shannon of Lincoln County and state of Kentucky being weak in body but sound in mind and memory calling to mind the malady of my body and believing it is appointed for all men once to die do make ____ this my last will and testament.
First of all I give my soul to almighty God who first gave it new and my body to the earth from whence it came to be buried in a decent Christian like manner at the discretion of my executor and as to my worldly estate where God hath blessed me with in this life I give and _______ and dispose of in the following manner and form.
I first will that all my just debts be paid. The rest of my estate I devise as follow /_____/ I give to my affectionate sons Thomas and John Shannon all that part of the tract of land I now live on which lies north and northeast of a small branch which runs through Rawlings May (s) plantation and with its general course to Isiah Caldwell's line. The land to be divided between sons according to ______ and ______ running this dividing line nearly north and south and that my sons Thomas and John Shannon after they have these lands in their possession on year shall be bound to pay my son James Shannon fifty dollars each.
I also will that Thomas and John Shannon have each of these when they come of age one bed and furniture and one cow.
I also will to my son Absolom Shannon _____ (one dollar?) also to my daughter Polly Wyley my black mares last spring colt
also to Seth Williams one dollar also to Katy Stephens one dollar.
I also will that my son Nathan Shannon when he comes of age have one bed and furniture and one cow.
I also will that my daughter Anny Shannon when she marries or comes of age have my Negro girl Mary and my daughter Lydia have my Negro boy Isaac but should both marry or come of age the living Negro shall be divided between them.
Should Anny or Lydia Shannon die before they come of age or marry, the Negroes they would have had shall be equally divided among the rest of my children
I also will that my daughter Anny Shannon and Lydia Shannon when they marry or come of age shall have one bed and furniture and one cow each.
I also will to my affectionate and loving wife Ann Shannon all the rest of my estate both real and personal to peaceably possess and enjoy during her natural life and at her death my land with its _____ shall fall to my son Nathan Shannon, and my Negro woman Leah to be free but should Leah have any children before the death of my wife they shall be equally divided among my children _______.
I will that the rest of my personal estate be disposed of as my wife shall think best rendering and disanuling all and every other will renulifying and confirming this an no other to be my last will and testament.
In _____ and where of I have here unto set my hand affirmed my seal the 20th day of October 1811. I also appoint my truly friend Jesse Coates and my affectionate wife Ann Shannon my executor and executrix of my estate.

Kentucky Lincoln County: At a county court holding for the county of Lincoln on Monday the 15th day of September in the year 1819.
