Volume Three - Now Underway!!
Remembering Jackson & Breathitt County
During The Last Century
A Book of Memories & Photographs
Charles Hayes, Jr. - Editor

I am taking this means to invite fellow Breathitt Countians to share in a very important project which is now underway: that of saving our local history in a published book. Work has begun on a third volume of the Breathitt County Memories series. Interest in volumes one and two was so high that it is natural to continue the project. Over 2,200 copies of those volumes sold in a matter of a few weeks in 2007.

For this third volume, it is hoped residents and former residents of Breathitt County will again take the time to write down memories of Jackson and Breathitt County during the last century. These memories can be long or short, there being no limit as to length. One person may submit as many memories and photographs as desired.
There really are no guidelines, except that memories must concern people, places, and events pertaining to our county during the 1900s. Photos are also needed. When this book comes out, make sure your memories are included in it. All material must be completed and turned in by September 20, 2009. However, the sooner the better. The book will be sold at cost, and no profit is expected.

I would appreciate your help in spreading the word about this project. There are so many of our former residents living in other places who need to be invited to help with his book. Encourage every Breathitt Countian you know to take part in it. Together, we will publish a fine history of our time here in Breathitt County. This book will be a treasure not only for our generation, but more especially to those future Breathitt Countians who will follow after we are mere memories.
Everyone has special memories. You may want to submit only one memory or many. The choice is yours. Please write them down, and share them! Don’t let them die with you!

Materials may be sent to: Charles Hayes, PO Box 227, Jackson, KY 41339 or email them to: charles@breathittcounty.com Memories must be readable and can be typed, handwritten, or emailed. Articles can be as short as a few paragraphs or as long as several pages.

If you are interested and need more information, or have suggestions, please contact me at 606-666-5060 or email me at the address above. Don’t miss this chance to share your memories and photographs. As the years go by, they will become more and more valuable. Please let me hear from you soon. Thanks,
