Baker Cemetery on Cortland

 

 On May 28, 1995, several descendants of those buried at THE BAKER CEMETERY erected this marker as a memorial to them. It reads:

Hen Baker was The 1st husb. of Sarah "Sal" Sandlin. They had 1 dau., named Lucy Baker. After which, lsaac"Red Ike" Bowling

Jane was a practicing midwife. She delivered all Will Baker's children. When she died, or so they thought, she was buried alive.
She wasn't quite dead. They came to discover this because the family had her exhumed because she was put in the plot facing the wrong way,
according to the story.They think she may have suffered a stroke and looked and felt dead.
