A former resident of Breathitt County, Mrs Matilda Turner, of Booneville, died on Dec 1, 1979, at the age of 89. She died after one day's illness due to a massive brain hemmorhage. She was the widow of the late Steve Turner and the daughter of Orlena Bowling and Berry Turner. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by five sons, Steve, Jr, Roscoe, Oakley, and Bratton Turner, all of Austin, In; and Dan Turner of Lexington, In; three daughters, Mrs Verna Johnson, Newport; Mrs Julia Turner, Jackson; and Mrs Pauline Duff, Booneville; three half brothers, Fred, James and Berry, Turner, Jr, all of Michigan; three half sisters, mrs Mildred Grant, mrs Orlena Combs and Mrs Nola Blount, all of Michigan; 27 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and five great, great, grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Dec 3, 1979 at the Bob Gabbard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Seldon Short, Jr and Rev John Justice officiating. Burial was in the Turner Family Cemetery at Elsome, Ky; with Bob Gabbard Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were gradsons of the deceased.
Matilda married Stephen Turner, son of Granville B 'Buddy' Turner and Ellender 'Ellis' Noble. Stephen was born in 1883.

Robert Stamper lived on Canoe road in Breathitt Co, KY. He was robbed and beaten up by 2 men at his home (but they believe there was 3 men involved, one that knew he kept a lot of money hidden in the house), He let them into his home because they were thirsty wanting some water to drink, he was hard of hearing so they wrote him a note before he would let them in. He went to stay with his daughter America Stamper Rockwell in Dayton, Oh. hopefully to recover. He died of a Stroke due to the beating he received. The three men responsible for his death were never caught.

Price Stamper, 74, passed away April 17 at the Oneida Mountain Hospital. He was a native of Breathitt County and a retired farmer.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs Susie Turner Stamper, Lerose; four sons, Howard and Herbert STamper, Dayton, Ohio; Clyde Stamper, Lerose, Kentucky; McKinley Atamper, Germantown, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs maxine Bowman, Booneville; two brothers, Robert Stamper, Canoe, Kentucky; Green B Stamper, Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs Jalah Turner, Canoe, Kentucky; Mrs Rosie Turner, Greencastle, Indiana; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral servuces were held at the Turner Cemetery Sunday, April 19 at 10 am by the Rev Evertie Moore and Rev Mitchell Turner. Burial was in the Turner Cemetery with Searcy and Strong Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
