Mrs. Magaleen B. Brashear was born September 16, 1919, departed this life
on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky,
she being 89 years, 9 months, and 29 days of age at the time of her
passing.
Magaleen was born in Clay County, Kentucky.
The daughter of the late James Lawrence Bowling and the late Mary Collins
Bowling.
Mrs. Magaleen Brashear was a retired postal worker having worked for the
Perry County located Viper Post Office for twenty years. She also was the
owner of The Countrie Shoppe dealing in antiques. She was a member of the
Viper Homemakers. Magaleen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hazard,
Kentucky.
Besides her parents, Magaleen was also preceded in death by her husband:
Ruby Brashear;
one daughter: Mercedes Runyon;
two brothers: Arnold Bowling and Herbert Bowling.
Mrs. Magaleen Brashear leaves the following surviving relatives:
one son: Kern Brashear and wife Carolyn of Hazard, Kentucky;
one son-in-law Clarence Runyon of Jeff, Kentucky;
one sister: Marilyn Bowling Brashear of Ohio;
six grandchildren: Susan, Diane, Jackie, John Alan, Karen, and Anna Laura;
twelve great grandchildren: Wesley, Brooke, Candace, Justin, Brittany,
Barrett, Ally, Megan, Christopher, Spencer, Taylor, Max, and Mackenzie;
Four great-great grandchildren: Jada, Jayce, Kara, and Hayden.
Funeral services for Mrs. Magaleen Bowling Brashear held at the
Engle-Walker Funeral Home on East Main Street, Hazard, KY on Saturday, July 18, 2009,
at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Daryl Cornett officiating.
Burial in the Resthaven Cemetery located at Jeff, in Perry County,
Kentucky.

Audrey Stamper Owen, 58, passed away Friday, September 18 at her home in Hazard.
She was the daughter of Kelly Stamper and Chloe Morgan Stamper. She is survived by her husband, William Bob Owen; daughter Carmen Owen; sisters Ethel Joyce Collins, Brenda Watters, Gail Franks, and Sharon K. Lewis; brothers James Edward Stamper and Charles David Stamper and a host of family and friends.
Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family received friends on Monday, September 21 with the funeral service following with Darrell Cornett officiating. Interment was at Francis Branch Cemetery located at Jeff. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

JACKSON, Ky. (AP) - Two people were killed when a fire swept through a home in eastern Kentucky this morning. State police say 48-year-old Kenny Stamper of Dry Ridge and
56-year-old Alfred Combs Junior were killed when the fire broke out around 3 a.m. in the Canoe community of Breathitt County. Two other people in the house were able to escape the flames. A neighbor, Donald Turner, was able to pull 33-year-old Debbie Bach from the house. Dexter Howard, who was also in the house at the time of the fire, walked out of the house before the fire spread.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Officials said they believe the fire was accidental.
