General Notes: John Riley was said to be a very proud man. He walked very erect a nd n ev er left home without a white shirt, black tie and shined shoes; h en ce t he name 'Gentleman'.
There seems to be some question concerning John's death date of Ju ne 2 3, 1 887, as recorded by Charles Riley in the Breathitt County Cemete ry In vento ry Book #3. Land deeds dated April 5, 1888 and signed by Jo hn and Sy thia R iley can be found in the Breathitt County Deed Books #5 a nd #6.
