Dear Golden,

I have attached a picture of Charlie when he was stationed in the Canal Zone of Panama. That picture was taken
sometime around 1912.

The 10th Regiment of Infantry left Galveston, TX from Ft. Sam Houston in September of 1911 and arrived
October 4, 1911. The regiment consisted of 33 officers and 831 enlisted men and was commanded by Col. Henry
A. Green. Their camp was called Camp E.S. Otis. Charlie was a member of Company C, 10th Infantry. The 10th was
the first regiment dispatched to the Canal Zone after the U.S. took over the task of overseeing the canals construction.

Charlie was discharged in August of 1914 having completed 4 years enlisted service. He returned to Breathitt Co.,
married and began raising a family.

The other picture is of Norcie Patrick, Charlie's wife. In her lap is my great aunt Lucinda "Cindy" Hudson. She was
named after Charlie's sister who married a fella by the name of Dean Amburgey. It is this same sister that Charlie wrote
to while in the Army and stationed at the Canal Zone.


I will begin to transcribe and scan the letters this evening. I will start emailing them one at a time this weekend. Thanks
