Welcome to the
Breckinridge County KYGenWeb! My
name is Dana Brown and I am your
County Coordinator. I have been
doing research since February,
1999. My grandparents were born
in Custer and Big Spring, natives
to the county as well as the four
to six generations of their
families before them. As a result
of my ancestors presence in the
county for the past 200 years, my
research has mainly been in
Breckinridge County. Over the
years, "Breck. Co.", as
I lovingly refer to it, has
become very near and dear to my
heart.
A heartfelt thanks goes to John
G. West for his service as County
Coordinator for the past 12
years. John accepted the position
in 1996 when the USGenWeb and
KYGenWeb were just starting out.
Best wishes go out to him in his
new ventures.
Below is an "ENTER"
button. Click on it to begin an
adventure into all that's
Breckinridge County. You'll
discover her towns, her rolling
hills and deep hollers, and her
people both past and present.
Hopefully you'll discover a
cousin or two while traipsing
around.

The
KyGenWeb Project
- In
March and April, 1996, a
group of genealogists
organized the Kentucky
Comprehensive Genealogy
Database. The idea was to
provide a single entry
point for all counties in
Kentucky, where collected
databases would be
stored.
In addition, the
databases would be
indexed and cross-linked,
so that even if an
individual were found in
more than one county,
they could be located in
the index.
