KING S. SMITH

FORMER CARROLL COUNTIAN DIES FROM OVER HEAT



K.C. SMITH, AGED 77, DIED JULY 24 AT THE HOME OF HIS SON, HARRISON SMITH,NEAR WIRT, IN. DEATH WAS DUE TO OVER HEAT, HE LIVED THE GREATER PART OFHIS LIFE INCARROLL COUNTY NEAR ENGLISH.

HE MARRIED MISS SALLIE RILEY, ALSO OF THIS COUNTY, AND TO THIS UNION NINE CHILDREN WHERE BORN, THREE DYING IN INFANCY. HE LEAVES TO MOURN HIS GOING THREE DAUGHTERS: MRS. CLARA FOX, MRS. BESSIE KNIGHT, MRS. MARTHA DANNER, AND THREE SONS, HENRY, GEORGE AND HARRISON SMITH, AND AN AGED BROTHER, JESSE SMITH OF ENGLISH, AND SEVERAL NEPHEWS AND NIECES IN CARROLL COUNTY.

IN 1881 HE UNITED WITH THE ENGLISH BAPTIST CHURCH. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED AT THE HOME BY REV. DANIEL P. ROWLETT, PASTOR SINGING BY MRS. LUCY SIMMONS AND MISS GLADYS RITZS.

MRS. FOX BURIED HER 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HELEN THE DAY HER FATHER DIED, DEATH FOLLOWING AN OPERATION FOR APPENDICITIS.

MR. SMITH WAS LAID TO REST BESIDE HS WIFE IN DUPONT, IND. CEMETERY.

OTIS SMITH AND FAMILY, BEN SMITH AND FAMILY, JESSE SMITH SR. AND WILL SMITH ATTENDED THE FUNERAL.
