LIBERTY - Services for Bob Spears, 57, of Route 1, Bethelridge, will
be 1 p.m. Thursday at Bartle Funeral Home by the Rev. Bud Cain.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Monday at home. Born
Sept. 6, 1938, in Casey County, he was a son of Nina Helen Dalton
Spears of Bethelridge and the late Roy Lee Spears. He was a truck
driver for R.A.L. S. Concrete and was a former employee of Casey
County Ready Mix. Additional survivors include his wife, Judy McKee
Spears; a daughter, Kacheta Lynn Gillespie of Fort Sill, Okla.;
three brothers, Harold Spears of Liberty, Darrel Spears of
Cincinnati, Ohio, and Danny Spears of Bethelridge; five sisters,
Faustine Vest of Liberty, Darlene Stallard of Berea, Ohio, Judy
Ramola of Bedford, Texas, Linda McGee of London and Jearline Adams
of Walltown; and three grandchildren.

STANFORD - Willie Jay Adams, 88, of 2925 Pine Grove Road, Crab
Orchard, died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital. Born March 26, 1908, in
Lincoln County, he was a son of the late George Mack and America
Elizabeth Noakes Adams. He was a retired farmer and a member of Pine
Grove Church of Christ. He was the widower of Myrtle J. Hines Adams.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Adams. Survivors
include six sons, James and Clifford Adams of Crab Orchard, Kenneth
Adams of Liberty, Bobby Adams of Cincinnati, Earl Adams of Frankfort
and Billy Adams of Knoxville; two daughters, Lula Howard of
Perryville and Bertha Cahill of Sarasota, Fla.; one sister, Eunice
Dellie Spoonamore of Crab Orchard; 20 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Services
will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home by Ric Estes. Burial
will be in Adams Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shane Adams, Clifton
Collins Adams, Robert Adams, Earl Williams Adams, Steve Hoeck,
Franck Hoeck and Edward Howard Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be

LIBERTY - Willie "Newton" Cochran, 79, of Liberty, died Saturday at
Westlake Cumberland Hospital. Born May 29, 1917, in Casey County, he
was a son of the late Ed and Kate Crawley Cochran. He was a retired
farmer, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the
House of Prayer Church. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Peyton
Cochran; four sons, Marshall Eugene Cochran of Mooresville, Ind.,
Carl W. Cochran and Ashuel Cochran, both of Liberty, and Lonnie B.
Cochran of Camby, Ind.; one daughter, Nora Adams-Griffin of
Martinsville, Ind.; one brother, Wate Cochran of Mooresville, Ind.;
12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m.
Monday at Bartle Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Peyton Cemetery
with military rites by the Casey County Funeral Squad. Pallbearers
will be Ricky, Jeff, Steve, Michael, Eddie and Mark Cochran.

MIDDLEBURG - Services for Della May Richardson, 84, of Middleburg,
will be 1 p.m. today at the Willow Springs United Methodist Church
by Revs. Jim Wesley and Edward Parton. Burial will be in Willow
Springs Cemetery. She died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional
Medical Center. Born March 4, 1912 in Casey County, she was a
daughter of the late Johnny Richard and Patsy Sweet Anderson. She
was a housewife and a member of the Willow Springs United Methodist
Church. She was the widow of Pierce Richardson. She was also
preceded in death by four daughters and two sons: Geraldine Young,
Sharon Hamlin, Juanita and Geretha Richardson, and Grant and Ronald
Richardson. Survivors include five sons, James A Richardson of
Middleburg, Jackie G. Richardson of Villa Hills, John P. Richardson
of Loveland, Ohio, Butch Richardson of Cincinnati and Dewey
Richardson of Florida; two sisters, Alta Maupin and Jewell Parton,
both of Liberty; one brother, Carlos Richardson of Ohio; and several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

the home of his daughter. Born July 10, 1910, in Casey County, he
was a son of the late William and Armilda Whited Hampton. He was a
farmer and the widower of Ethel King Hampton. Survivors include
three daughters, Maynell Haggard and Patricia Martin, both of
Liberty, and Betty Jean Hudson of Dunnville; two sons, William
Robert Hampton and James Ralph Hampton, both of Liberty; two
brothers, Amos Hampton of Hustonville and Jim Hampton of Danville;
seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be 1
p.m. Wednesday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. Marshall
Barlow. Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery.

LIBERTY - Doris Frances Brown, 68, Fair Street, died Tuesday at
Casey County Hospital. Born March 18, 1928, in Chilton, she was a
daughter of the late George Preston and Lenora Atwood Cochran. She
was a former school teacher, former assistant superintendent of the
Casey County School system and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, E.C. Brown; two sons, George M.
Brown, Liberty, and Bruce B. Brown, Somerset; a brother, Floyd
Cochran, Bradfordsville; four sisters, Chelcie Reed, Estelle Cannon
and Nancy Gorley, all of Liberty, and Helen Jeffries, Erlanger; and
four grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at First
Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Browning and Jimmy Brown. Burial
will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven and Bradley
Brown, Edward and Paul Reed, Fred Jeffries and Humphrey Elliott.

died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Aug.
7, 1931, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Riley Logan and
Emma Wayne Vaught. He was a farmer. Survivors include his wife,
Leona Qualls Vaught; a daughter, Terri Norris, Harrodsburg; a
brother, Floyd Vaught, Hustonville; three sisters, Della Hale of
Hustonville, Lucille Goode of Stanford and Mattie Wheeler of

LIBERTY - Edris Cyle Allen, 63, Edmond, Okla., formerly of Casey
County, died Monday in Oklahoma. Born Jan. 26, 1933, in Casey
County, he was a son of Hester Marple Allen of Liberty and the late
Eubert Allen. He was a carpenter and concrete worker. Survivors
include his wife, Vera Stole Allen; three sons, Stephen Allen and
Donald Allen, both of Liberty, and Timothy Allen of Oklahoma City,
Okla.; five daughters, Kathy Allen of Highland Heights, Karen
Sanders of Cincinnati, Sharon Foley of Lovely, Paula Jrmany of
Crestview, and Cheryl Payne of Liberty; two stepdaughters, Karen
Cury of Oklahoma City and Marla Coffelt of Dallas; two sisters,
Datha Eubanks of Cincinnati and Nelda Harlow of Liberty; and 15
grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McKinney-Brown
Funeral Home by the Revs. Jimmy Knifley and Stephen Martin. Burial
will be in Whited Cemetery.

Burial will be Thomas Ridge Cemetery. He died Thursday at University
of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, Lexington. Born Feb. 9, 1915,
in Casey County, he was a son of the late Pierce and Lottie Daniel
Thomas. He was a farmer and a member of Cowden Chapel Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Nadene Roy Thomas; two sons, David and
Alton Dale Thomas, both of Dunnville; four daughters, Brenda Meece
and Gail Arms, both of Dunnville, Darlene South of Russell Springs
and Alta Grider of Liberty; three sisters, Edell Wright of Indiana,
Claudia Carman of Ohio, Flossie Cross of Junction City, nine
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by two sons, Leon and Donald Thomas, and a daughter, Wilda Thomas.

McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 2, 1909, in Casey
County, he was a son of the late George Bill and Rosie King Vanoy.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church.
He was the widower of Lula Wilcher Vanoy. Survivors include a
daughter, Maxine Vanoy, Cincinnati; five sons, Coyd Vanoy of
Cincinnati, Hershel Vanoy of Lubbock, Texas, Howard Vanoy of
Liberty, and Garland and Rollin Vanoy, both of Indianapolis; a
brother, Ancil Vanoy, Liberty; three sisters, Lois Brown of Liberty,
Chelsie Followell of Danville, and Lillian Craft of Manchester; 13
grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

MORELAND - Theodore R. Sears, 85, of Junction City died Thursday at
Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lexington. Born June 15,
1911, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Frank and Emma
Johnson Sears. He was a farmer and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Shepperson Rosel Sears; a
daughter, Norma Campbell of Moreland; two stepdaughters, Carleen
Love of Junction City and Linda Wilson of Hopkinsville; a stepson,
Tommy Rosel of Upton; a brother, Melvin Sears of Junction City; a
sister, Mae Kaufman of Junction City; two grandchildren, 12 step

Bartmann Health Care Center. Born July 21, 1924, in Casey County,
she was a daughter of the late John and Sarah Sweeney Bryant. She
was a retired cook. Survivors include two sons, Willis and Larry
Adams, both of Lincoln, Ill.; two daughters, Shirley Pesnell of
Loretta, Tenn., and Judy Adams of San Diego, Calif.; a brother,
Roscoe Bryant of Quincy, Ill; seven grandchildren; five step
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services
will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brush Creek Cemetery in Casey
County by the Rev. Greg Powell. Bartle Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.

home of his daughter. Born March 26, 1932 in Casey County, he was a
son of the late Jesse James and Gertie Durham Holt. He was a farmer.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah C. Stokley and Angel Holt,
both of Liberty; two sons, Walter R. Holt of Brocton, N.Y., and Carl
Holt of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Helen Rodgers of Liberty
and Ruth Miller of Lexington; and seven grandchildren. Services will
be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bartle Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg
Ryan. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery.

Alvin Verice Sims Jr. was stillborn Saturday at Ephraim McDowell
Regional Medical Center.
He was the son of Alvin and Angie Trent Sims of Route 1 Yosemite.

Yosemite; a grandmother, Ora Lee Richie of Lexington; grandparents,
Earl and Theresa Trent of Junction City; a grandfather Larry Sims of

LIBERTY - Sarah Bell Helm, 79, of Russell Springs, formerly of
Liberty, died Friday in Russell Springs.
Born Dec. 13, 1915, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late
William and Effie Clements Lee. She was a homemaker. She was the
widow of Hershel Helm.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Burton and Anna Helm, both of
Russell Springs; three sons, William C. Helm of Greensburg, Leonard
Helm of Columbia and Carol Dale Helm of Liberty; two brothers, Ed
Lee and Howard Lee, both of Liberty; and three sisters, Adell
Garrett of Liberty, Lovie Wethington of Clementsville and Mabel Eads
of Indiana; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by
George Hancock. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

MORELAND - Martha ``Sue'' Patton Reid, 80, of Hustonville died
Friday at Liberty Care Manor in Liberty.
Born March 17, 1916, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the
late William M. and Charlotte Helms Patton. She and her late
husband, Merrell M. Reid, had operated a general store in
Hustonville for 40 years. She belonged to Antioch Christian Church
in Liberty.
Survivors include a sister, Rosie M. Yoder of Shelbyville, Ind.; and
a brother, Charles Patton of Hope, Ind.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral
Home by the Rev. Paul W. Patton. Burial will be in Hustonville
Cemetery in Hustonville, Lincoln Co. Ky.

LIBERTY - Funeral services for William Luel Coffman, 75, of Liberty
Route 8, will be 2 p.m. today at Bartle Funeral Home by Rev. Vernon
Blakey. Burial will be in Peavey Cemetery with military rites by
Casey County Funeral Squad.
He died Thursday at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 29, 1920, in Casey County. He was a son of the late Oscar
and Edna Peavey Coffman. He was a retired farmer, U.S. Army Veteran
of World War II and a member of the pleasant Grove Separate Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Hicks Coffman; five daughters,
Betty Wilkerson of Windsor, Kathy Brown of Yosemite, Connie Brown
and Carolyn McKinney, both of Liberty, and Judy Wood of
Campbellsville; two sons, Jerry and Archie Coffman, both of Liberty;
one brother, Herbert Coffman of Liberty; one sister, Agatha Warner
of Liberty; and 11 grandchildren.

Born March 18, 1916, in Casey County, he was a son of the late B.F.
and Marie Scott Allen. He was the widower of Mary Ann Allen.
Survivors include three daughters, Essie Luttrell and Rosetta
Patton, both of Cincinnati, and Janet Burton of Hustonville; three
sons, David Allen of Hustonville, Clellie Allen of Cincinnati and
Sam Allen of Waynesburg; two sisters, Gerdie Patton of Liberty and
Flora Pennington of Jamestown, Ind.; 16 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren.

Carter. Burial will be in Whited Cemetery.

Kings Mountain, died Wednesday at home.
Born March 31, 1908, in Casey County, he was a son of the late
Melvin and Ellen Bolin Frederick. He was a former railroad employee,
farmer and house painter.
Survivors include three sisters, Myrtle Dorn of Cincinnati, Ruth
Moran of Liberty and Jewel Sims of Parksville.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Corinth Church of God by the Rev.
Steve Willingham. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Junior Shoemaker, Dallas Elmore, Jimmy Carman,

LIBERTY - Montie Marie Wilson, 76, of Cincinnati, formerly of
Liberty, died Tuesday in Cincinnati.
Born July 28, 1920, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late
Chester and Myrtle Shell McQueary. She was a homemaker, a member of
Sharonville Church of Christ, Ohio, and the widow of Aaron Wilson.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Gooch of Kings Mountain and
Virginia Clements of Cincinnati; three sons, William Earl Wilson of
Liberty, Roy Wilson of Indiana, and David Wilson of Ohio; six
sisters, Beulah Calhoun of Indiana, Christine Roy and Ivadean
Luttrell, both of Liberty, Linnie Clements of Cincinnati, Versie
Wilham of Russell Springs and Jeretha Calhoun of Bradfordville; a
brother, Arvil McQueary of Liberty; 17 grandchildren and 18

He died of natural causes Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional
Medical Center.
Born March 18, 1948, in Casey County he was a son of Catherine
Rainwater and Paul L. Tarter Jr. He was an employee of Matthews
Conveyer, Danville.
Additional survivors include his wife, Freida Allen Tarter; a son,
Paul Tarter IV, Moreland; two daughters, Jennifer Tarter,
Cincinnati, and Tammy Tarter of Danville; two sisters, Patsy Naamani
of Louisville and Eva Kay Wheeler of Liberty; and a grandchild.

LIBERTY - Marcus L. Wesley, 47, of Willow Springs died Wednesday, at
University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, Lexington.
Born May 28, 1949, in Casey County, he was a son of Bonnie Ponder
Wesley of Willow Springs and the late Hershel Eli Wesley. He was a
loan officer for First Southern Bancorp, Stanford. He was a member
of Willow Springs Methodist Church and attended Liberty Methodist
Church.
Additional survivors include his wife, Vickie Durham Wesley; a
daughter, Jennifer Siebenthaler of Lexington; a son, Rodney Wesley
of Lexington; a brother, Hershel Eli Wesley II of Louisville; and a
sister, Bonnie Jean Emerson of Fort Worth, Texas.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty United Methodist
Church by the Rev. Don Barnett. Burial will be in Willow Springs
Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - John Aaron Floyd, 83, Kings Mountain, died Monday
at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born June 22, 1913, in Casey County, he was a son of the late
Cornelius and Ethel Bastin Floyd. He was a retired merchant of 25
years and a farmer. He was a lifetime member and deacon of Walltown
Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a graduate of Kings
Mountain High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He
was the widower of Jewell Estes Floyd.
Survivors include a son, John Carroll Floyd, Lexington; two
daughters, Sue Reynolds of Versailles and Linda Clark of Walltown; a
brother, Vernon Floyd, Stanford; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Walltown Christian Church by
the Rev. Erwin Ray. Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff, Ronald, Randall, Wayne and Fred Floyd and
Todd Clark.

Born Sept. 21, 1945, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late
Paul and Ethel Wilkinson Combest. She was a former secretary and
homemaker, a member of Liberty First Christian Church and Order of
Eastern Star 31.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Wethington; two sons, Scott
Wethington of Dunnville and Bryan Wethington of Liberty; a daughter,
Tracy Corn, Mt. Salem; two brothers, Glen Combest of Louisville and
Jimmy Combest of Florida; a sister, Ada Weddle, Liberty; and four
grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by
the Rev. Homer Hecht. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
