Russell County News, October 28, 1948 Military Funeral for Pvt. Pettyjohn Funeral services for Pvt. Myer Pettyjohn, 21 years old, were held at Bethany Ridge church Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. L.C. Young conducted the service. Pvt. Pettyjohn was killed in action in Germany in 1945. He was honored by a military funeral by [the] Wilbur H. Popplewell Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars. A large crowd attended the funeral. Pruitt funeral home [of Jamestown] had charge of all burial arrangements.
