Dorothy P. Adams
LIBERTY - Dorothy P. Adams, 72, of Lincoln, Ill., died Saturday at Bartmann Health Care Center. Born July 21, 1924, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late John and Sarah Sweeney Bryant. She was a retired cook. Survivors include two sons, Willis and Larry Adams, both of Lincoln, Ill.; two daughters, Shirley Pesnell of Loretta, Tenn., and Judy Adams of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Roscoe Bryant of Quincy, Ill; seven grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brush Creek Cemetery in Casey County by the Rev. Greg Powell. Bartle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. . [Published August 26, 1996]

Walter L. Holt
LIBERTY - Walter Lee Holt, 64, of Liberty Route 4 died Sunday at the home of his daughter. Born March 26, 1932 in Casey County, he was a son of the late Jesse James and Gertie Durham Holt. He was a farmer. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah C. Stokley and Angel Holt, both of Liberty; two sons, Walter R. Holt of Brocton, N.Y., and Carl Holt of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Helen Rodgers of Liberty and Ruth Miller of Lexington; and seven grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bartle Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Ryan. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today. [Published August 26, 1996]

Mary P. Johns
LIBERTY - Mary Paschal Johns, 81, of Liberty Manor Apartments, died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 22, 1914, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Mary Wethington. She was a retired waitress, and a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Clementsville. She was the widow of Hershel Johns.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Hall. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort, Ind.
Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. prayer service at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. . [Published August 30, 1996]

Sarah B. Helm
LIBERTY - Sarah Bell Helm, 79, of Russell Springs, formerly of Liberty, died Friday in Russell Springs.
Born Dec. 13, 1915, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late William and Effie Clements Lee. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Hershel Helm.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Burton and Anna Helm, both of Russell Springs; three sons, William C. Helm of Greensburg, Leonard Helm of Columbia and Carol Dale Helm of Liberty; two brothers, Ed Lee and Howard Lee, both of Liberty; and three sisters, Adell Garrett of Liberty, Lovie Wethington of Clementsville and Mabel Eads of Indiana; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by George Hancock. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Martha P. Reid
MORELAND - Martha ``Sue'' Patton Reid, 80, of Hustonville died Friday at Liberty Care Manor in Liberty.
Born March 17, 1916, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Charlotte Helms Patton. She and her late husband, Merrell M. Reid, had operated a general store in Hustonville for 40 years. She belonged to Antioch Christian Church in Liberty.
Survivors include a sister, Rosie M. Yoder of Shelbyville, Ind.; and a brother, Charles Patton of Hope, Ind.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul W. Patton. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

William L. Coffman
LIBERTY - Funeral services for William Luel Coffman, 75, of Liberty Route 8, will be 2 p.m. today at Bartle Funeral Home by Rev. Vernon Blakey. Burial will be in Peavey Cemetery with military rites by Casey County Funeral Squad.
He died Thursday at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 29, 1920, in Casey County. He was a son of the late Oscar and Edna Peavey Coffman. He was a retired farmer, U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the pleasant Grove Separate Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Hicks Coffman; five daughters, Betty Wilkerson of Windsor, Kathy Brown of Yosemite, Connie Brown and Carolyn McKinney, both of Liberty, and Judy Wood of Campbellsville; two sons, Jerry and Archie Coffman, both of Liberty; one brother, Herbert Coffman of Liberty; one sister, Agatha Warner of Liberty; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Gregory, Geoffrey, Jonathan and Lance Brown, Andrew McKinney, and Irvin Miller.

Lula M. Hicks
LIBERTY - Lula Mae Hicks, 94, of Clementsville, died Monday at home.
Born July 8, 1902, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Welby and Mary Woodrum Wethington. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the widow of Johnnie Hicks.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Ann Lyons of Liberty; three sons, James and Clifton Hicks, both of Liberty, and William Hicks of Florida; 19 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Hall. Burial will be in Gum Lick Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Murphy, Barry Hicks, Steve and Matthew Wilson, Randy Wethington and Roger Gabheart.
Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren.

Arlis Allen
LIBERTY - Arlis Allen, 80, of Cincinnati, formerly of Liberty, died Wednesday in Cincinnati.
Born March 18, 1916, in Casey County, he was a son of the late B.F. and Marie Scott Allen. He was the widower of Mary Ann Allen.
Survivors include three daughters, Essie Luttrell and Rosetta Patton, both of Cincinnati, and Janet Burton of Hustonville; three sons, David Allen of Hustonville, Clellie Allen of Cincinnati and Sam Allen of Waynesburg; two sisters, Gerdie Patton of Liberty and Flora Pennington of Jamestown, Ind.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McKinney-Brown by the Rev. Jack Carter. Burial will be in Whited Cemetery.

William A. Frederick
MIDDLEBURG - William Albert Frederick, 88, of Grove Ridge Road, Kings Mountain, died Wednesday at home.
Born March 31, 1908, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Melvin and Ellen Bolin Frederick. He was a former railroad employee, farmer and house painter.
Survivors include three sisters, Myrtle Dorn of Cincinnati, Ruth Moran of Liberty and Jewel Sims of Parksville.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Corinth Church of God by the Rev. Steve Willingham. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Junior Shoemaker, Dallas Elmore, Jimmy Carman, Robert Austin, Chester Sims, Randy Watts.

Montie M. Wilson
LIBERTY - Montie Marie Wilson, 76, of Cincinnati, formerly of Liberty, died Tuesday in Cincinnati.
Born July 28, 1920, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Myrtle Shell McQueary. She was a homemaker, a member of Sharonville Church of Christ, Ohio, and the widow of Aaron Wilson.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Gooch of Kings Mountain and Virginia Clements of Cincinnati; three sons, William Earl Wilson of Liberty, Roy Wilson of Indiana, and David Wilson of Ohio; six sisters, Beulah Calhoun of Indiana, Christine Roy and Ivadean Luttrell, both of Liberty, Linnie Clements of Cincinnati, Versie Wilham of Russell Springs and Jeretha Calhoun of Bradfordville; a brother, Arvil McQueary of Liberty; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Clark. Burial will be in Trace Fork Cemetery,

Jason W. Roberts
LIBERTY - Jason W. Roberts, 93, Windsor, died Saturday at the Liberty Care Center.
Born Feb. 12, 1903, in Casey County, he was a son of the late John and Helena Walters Roberts. He was a retired farmer and a member of Jennies Chapel United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Cordelia Luttrell Roberts.
Survivors include a son, Miles Roberts, Somerset; two daughters, Janice Fox of Dunnville and Phyllis Hufstedler of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one brother, Wade Roberts, Windsor; one sister, Mary Burton, Deer Park, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. John Robertson. Burial will be in the Jennies Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Roberts, Steve Fox, Chester and Paul Roberts and Dale Patterson.

Paul L. Tarter III
LIBERTY - Services for Paul L. Tarter III, 48, Bryant Ridge Road, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. Clifford Dehart. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
He died of natural causes Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born March 18, 1948, in Casey County he was a son of Catherine Rainwater and Paul L. Tarter Jr. He was an employee of Matthews Conveyer, Danville.
Additional survivors include his wife, Freida Allen Tarter; a son, Paul Tarter IV, Moreland; two daughters, Jennifer Tarter, Cincinnati, and Tammy Tarter of Danville; two sisters, Patsy Naamani of Louisville and Eva Kay Wheeler of Liberty; and a grandchild.
Pallbearers are William Shoopman, Denny Allen, Bernard Roy, Michael Harris, Dennis Wesley and Danny Bryant.

Louise J. McBrayer
NICHOLASVILLE - Louise Jones McBrayer, 69, of Shun Road, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born Jan. 9, 1927, in Casey County, she was a daughter of Sallie Marshall Bertram and the late George Bertram Sr. She was a member of Brookside Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include her husband, Herbert McBrayer; three daughters, Sally Jones Hale and Karen Jones Kleczkowski, both of Danville, and Imogene Jones Goodlett of Nicholasville; two sisters, Jo Benton of Nicholasville and Martha Dean of Stanford; two brothers, George Bertram Jr. of Stanford and Ray Bertram of London, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Cleve Jones.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Brookside Baptist Church by the Revs. DeWayne Brewer and Keith Tingle. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. today at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the church. . [Published September 12, 1996]

Marcus L. Wesley
LIBERTY - Marcus L. Wesley, 47, of Willow Springs died Wednesday, at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, Lexington.
Born May 28, 1949, in Casey County, he was a son of Bonnie Ponder Wesley of Willow Springs and the late Hershel Eli Wesley. He was a loan officer for First Southern Bancorp, Stanford. He was a member of Willow Springs Methodist Church and attended Liberty Methodist Church.
Additional survivors include his wife, Vickie Durham Wesley; a daughter, Jennifer Siebenthaler of Lexington; a son, Rodney Wesley of Lexington; a brother, Hershel Eli Wesley II of Louisville; and a sister, Bonnie Jean Emerson of Fort Worth, Texas.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty United Methodist Church by the Rev. Don Barnett. Burial will be in Willow Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harvey Luttrell, Garland Sharp, Joe Hafley, John T. Wesley, James May, David H. Johnson, John Burl Murphy, Lee Roy Prewitt, David Bratcher and Fred Rogers.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today.

John A. Floyd  

WAYNESBURG - John Aaron Floyd, 83, Kings Mountain, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born June 22, 1913, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Cornelius and Ethel Bastin Floyd. He was a retired merchant of 25 years and a farmer. He was a lifetime member and deacon of Walltown Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He was the widower of Jewell Estes Floyd.
Survivors include a son, John Carroll Floyd, Lexington; two daughters, Sue Reynolds of Versailles and Linda Clark of Walltown; a brother, Vernon Floyd, Stanford; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Walltown Christian Church by the Rev. Erwin Ray. Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff, Ronald, Randall, Wayne and Fred Floyd and Todd Clark.

Betty A. Wethington
LIBERTY - Betty Ann Wethington, 51, Liberty, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 21, 1945, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Ethel Wilkinson Combest. She was a former secretary and homemaker, a member of Liberty First Christian Church and Order of Eastern Star 31.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Wethington; two sons, Scott Wethington of Dunnville and Bryan Wethington of Liberty; a daughter, Tracy Corn, Mt. Salem; two brothers, Glen Combest of Louisville and Jimmy Combest of Florida; a sister, Ada Weddle, Liberty; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. Homer Hecht. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

LIBERTY - Helen Louise Bray, 60, of Urbana, Ill., formerly of Liberty, died Thursday in Irbana.
Born May 12, 1936, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Jewell Hopper Bray. She was a nurse and a member of Webber Street Church of Christ, Urbana.
Survivors include a stepsister, Madonna Bailey of Mahomet, Ill.; and three stepbrothers, Arthur Atchigon of Saudi Arabia, Andrew Atchigon of Manhattan, Kan., and Roger Atchigon of Normal, Ill.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. Greg Powell. Burial will be in Poplar Hill Cemetery.

Betty Ann Lamkin, 68, Lumberton, N.C., formerly of Marion County, died Wednesday at Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C.
Born April 22, 1928, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Vannie Burl and Lora Mae Preston Lane. She was a retired seamstress for Jane and Linda Sportsware, Lebanon, and a member of Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Carl L. Lamkin; two daughters, Mary A. Wilkerson of Terre Haute, Ind., and Carolyn Marie Hardin of Springfield; two brothers, Mike Lamkin of Lumberton and Joe Lamkin of Louisville; two sisters, Edna Mae Evans of Danville and Doris Purdom of Gravel Switch; and three grandchildren.

Services for Betty Ann Lamkin, 68, Lumberton, N.C., formerly of Marion County, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by Steve Lee. Burial will be in Old Liberty Cemetery, Bradfordsville.
She died Wednesday at Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C.
Born April 22, 1928, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Vannie Burl and Lora Mae Preston Lane. She was a retired seamstress for Jane and Linda Sportswear, Lebanon, and a member of Church of Christ.

Berkley M. Buck
ALEXANDRIA, IND. - Berkley M. Buck, 72, of 312 East 900 North, Alexandria, Ind., died Thursday at his residence after an extended illness.
Born May 8, 1924, in Liberty, he was a son of the late Cale and Sarah Cole Buck. He was retired from National Gypsum Corporation after 22 years employement. He was a member of Freedom Assembly of God in Alexandria as well as Madison County Farm Bureau. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Wright Buck; one son, Gary Buck of Alexandria; one daughter, Linda Middleton of Granger, Ind.; one brother, Dewie Wheeler of Liberty; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Owens Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Moore. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today.
