The Bowman Tree and Related Trees (The symbol (&) is to be read "who married") About the year 1800 Billie Bowman settled in Casey County at Liberty. He had two brothers: Royal who settled near Lebanon, while the other one, William, settled near Louisville. Winston, the son of Billie, born in 1805, married Polly Fitzpatrick, born 1802, daughter of the old Squire mentioned by Peter B. Riffe in "The First Protracted Meeting." To this union were born the following children: Bill, John, and three girls all died of "flux" within a space of twenty-one days. Of the other children Elvira married John Wilkinson. Jane Bowman married Royal Wilkinson. Winston Bowman, known at "Tug" married Amanda Portman, sister of D.G. "Duff" living in 1938. To this union were born Mollie & W. H. (Dink) Phillips (children: Lizzie and Wince). (Note--Mayor Dallas Rule was brought to Casey County and made his home with his Uncle Dink, Rule being the son of Johnnie Rule and Fannie, sister to Dink Phillips.) Wince, known as Doc, married Ethel Hankla, had two sons: Henry and Melvin. Osborn Portman Bowman married Ida Tilford. Lucy Bowman married Charlie Davidson. Charlie Bowman died unmarried. Anna Bowman, daughter of Winston, married Frank Warriner (children: Katharine, Herbert, and Charles). Katharine Bowman married William Meyers (children: Bowman and Carlisle).
