Haggard-Howe Wedding Held Tuesday, Jan. 29 - At a candlelight double ring service at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening, January 29, at the Strongsville Methodist Church, Miss Jean Marilyn Howe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil F. Howe, Strongsville, became the bride of Private Julian Haggard, Strongsville, Reverend Harry Hull officiated. Mr. Peter Lansall sang "I Live You Truely" and "Because" accompanied by Rachel Beers at the piano.

The bride wore a street dress of blue, and a white feather hat and carried white carnations with her small white Order of Eastern Star Bible. She was given in marriage by her father. Matron of honor was Mrs. Ruth Casperson, who was dressed in yellow and carried pink carnations. The best man was Mr. Alfred Casperson and the usher was Mr. Harry McCall.

A reception was held at the bride's home for fifty guests. The bride and groom left for a short honeymoon in Kentucky. Private Haggard is home on furlough until February 11, when he will report to Camp Pickett, Va., to be sent on overseas duty. The bride will make her home with her parents until her husband returns and will continue to work at the Elwell-Parker Company, Cleveland where she has been employed the last 4 years.

MEMORIES- I can remember when I wasn't old enough to drive my Papa (Julian) would let me move his car down the driveway so I could wash it. One time Nanny (Jean) told me to let her drive it down, so I got in the middle of the front seat and she got in to drive. She started the car and moved the gearshift to R, and pressed the gas, she hit the brake real quick because we were going backwards. It was really funny, but where she never

drove she didn't know how to, she didn't know what those letters R,N,D,L1,L2 were there for or even what they meant. I told her in between laughing and never did let her drive me down the driveway again.

Papa's favorite cookie was the double stuff Oreo. The house was never without them, he also enjoyed Little Debbie Hostess Cakes. Papa took really good care of his yard and enjoyed watching the birds and the chipmunks play. His favorite cartoon character was Snoopy.

Notes for Jean Marilyn Howe:

Jean never did have a driver's license, actually for many years she was even afraid to travel on the interstate. I can remember when my Uncle Jim Haggard got married in Cincinnati, I rode with my grandparents, playing rummy in the back seat with Nanny (Jean Howe Haggard). That was the longest ride I believe I had ever been on at that time.

Mother's Certificate- stated maiden name of mother is Myrtle E. Wooldridge and father Neil F. Howe residence: Berea, Ohio.

"Remember You"

As I remember you

My lips seem to curl

from a frown to a faint little smile.

Your hair was quite nice,

Your face sweet and plump,

While your clothes they were always in style.

To some you are Granny

To us you are Nanny

To five lucky ones you are called mother,

Still some call you Auntie, or Sister, or Friend.

But all love you quite like no other.

As I remember you,

I sift through the sand

To the time when my life was in place,

Whether cooking with you,

Or shopping with you,

Or enjoying the look on your face.

We now think of you,

And we sit back and wonder

Why did god have to take you away.

But as the tears pass through our eyes... we smile

For you are in heaven today.

From the Earth of the living is where you have passed

And gone to the land of the free.

So, allow us to mourn 'cause the time went to fast,

But inside make us happy to see......

That your soul is awaiting those huge golden gates

MEMORIES- Nanny was one of if not the best cook around, she made the best potato salad and apple cakes. I enjoyed spending a lot of time with Nanny and Papa. An evening at their house consisted of playing rummy or yahtzee and then we would watch the show "Maude" at 11:30 each weekday night. Nanny would sit back in her chair with her eye's closed and if you asked her if she was sleeping she would tell you, "No, I'm just resting my eye's" the funny thing is you could catch her snore every now and then.
