My Pigg Roots
By Owen Dawson
Holiday, Fl., 34690

"This Roots" report will begin with Suzannah E Pigg, My G-Grandmother. See "My Dawson Roots" for my history on generations 1, 2, and 3.

Generation 4

Suzannah E Pigg, born CA 1820-1822 in Clark Co., Ky to Lewis Pigg and Lucy Adams Pigg.

Married Jonathan B Dawson on Dec. 18, 1837 in Clark Co. Ky. Jonathan was son of Jonathan J and Ann Adams Dawson and this family is covered in "My Dawson Roots".

Generation 5

Lewis Pigg, born to Anderson and Polly Perry Pigg on March 2, 1894 in Lincon Co., Ky. Now part of casey Co.

Lewis married Lucy Adams on April 20, 1814 in Clark Co., Ky. Lucy was Daughter of Spencer Adams and Sarah corbin Adams of Clark Co. Ky. *Some researchers say that Spencer was not the Father of our Lucy, but the evidence says otherwise. He did sign her marriage bond and she was born in the year after Spencer and Sarah married. The Adams will be covered in "My Adams Roots" later.

Lucy Adams Pigg and Lewis Pigg's children are:
1-Suzannah E Pigg, born CA 1820-1822 in Clark Co., Ky. (I believe Suzannah is their first child).

2-Thomas C Pigg, born Dec. 28, 1820, in Clark Co., died Nov. 23, 1887. Buried in Pigg Graveyard

3-Sally, (Sarah) Pigg, born CA 1823 in Clark Co. Sarah married Hiram Williams

4-Martin J Pigg, born March 2, 1826, in Clark Co, buried in Pigg Graveyard.

5-Polly (Hulse) Pigg born CA 1827 in Clark Co., Ky. Also Known as Mary

6-William Pigg, born in Clark Co. Dates unknown

These names were listed as Lewis' heirs in law on a deed transfer on 10-27-1890. Other researchers have listed other children, such as Elkanah and Patsy, but Patsy was a sister to Lewis and I find nothing on this Elkanah. If he was a son, he had died before 1890 without any heirs as this document lists all of Lewis' heirs as well as Thomas' heirs.

Thomas had already died and his children are listed as heirs to recieve his part, They were: L C Pigg, Z W Pigg, Joel L Pigg, Lucy A Pigg and Louella Pigg Powell.

Lucy and Lewis are both buried in the Pigg Graveyard about 1 mile from Trappe going toward Goff's Corner on Old Indian Fields Road. The cemetery is visable from the road, but inaccessable. (Grown up and behind a chain link fence)

. *Some show a Walter Pigg as Father of John Pigg. I have studied the different sources and this seems to fit best.

** I have drawn heavily from the work of Jesse Wilson's Pigg Newsletter, as well as from the Adams/Bell genealogy, "Trail Blazers" by Acice Hamot and a few internet contacts. As in all Genealogies, there are probably errors. If anyone has any corrections, please send them to me.
