CATRON -- Ray E., 77, of Hoopeston (Illinois) died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday (April 17, 2005) at Veterans Affairds Illiana Health Care System, Danville, Illinois.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 907 W. Main St., Hoopeston. Jim Lloyd will officiate. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery, Danville, with military rites accorded by Budddy Egnew VFW Post, Hoopeston.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Catron was born May 13, 1927 in Albany, KY, a son of Joseph and Victoria Wray Catron.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Catron Binks of Salt Lake City and Roger Catron of Hoopeston; three brothers, John Catron of Monterey, Tenn., Clarence Catron of Bourbonnais (Illinois) and Landon Catron of Mount Plymouth, Fla.; a sister, Barb Rethelford of Hoopeston; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Catron owned and operated Landstar/Ranger until his retirement in 2001. He served in the Army.
He was a member of VFW Post, Hoopeston.

CONNER -- Eva P. Burchett, 85, passed away Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Livingston, Tennessee Hospital.
She was a native of Albany, Kentucky. She attended Campbellsville College along with her husband, Willard. She graduated from Western Kentucky State College with a BS is 1955 and an MA in 1967. She, like many of the teachers of that time period, attended College on Saturdays and during the week at night. She first taught in a one room school in the Clinton County School System, taught fifth grade in Albany, and taught History and Social Studies at Clinton County High School. She was the Supervising Teacher in the Clinton County School System prior to retirement in 1977.
She professed faith in Christ at an early age.
She was very active in the Albany Younger Women's Club, Albany Women's Club and served as President.
She was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
After retirement she spent many years working on genealogy of the Burchett, Conner, York and many other families in Clinton County. She traveled all over the United States doing her research and was a source of information for many families in Clinton County and from people from throught the country. She was very active in the Clinton County Historical Society and helped produce and research many books of historical and genealogical significance.
She compiled the Lewis Armstrong York Family History book, she and Luther C. Conner, Jr. compiled a history of the Lawrence Conner of Dublin, Ireland, she compiled the 1910 Census of Clinton County Kentucky, Abstract and Index with Marilyn Neathery McCluen, and helped reconstruct the Clinton County 1890 Census. She also helped do the research on Frederick (Old Fed) Grider and his twenty two children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard A. Conner, Father, Luther E. Burchett, Sr., mother Edna Grider Burchett and her brother, Luther F. (Pete) Burchett.
She is survived by her sons, Larry T. Conner (Lynn), grandson, Jeremy J. Conner, grandson Jason Gregory, granddaughter, Jane T. Conner, grandson Bryan Gregory, and son Willard A. (Tony) Conner. She is also survived by her sisters, Jimmie B. Maupin, Alice Dickerson and Sallie Copeland (Turney) and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 12th at Campbell Funeral Home in Albany, Kentucky. Visitation will be 5-8 PM on Tuesday.

CRAIG -- Ralph age 66 of New Castle passed away Saturday January 19, 2008 at Henry County Hospital. He was born January 22, 1941 in Albany, Kentucky the son of the late John Leaf and Mary Ina Thurston Craig. He worked at Smurfit Containers for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife Allene Craig. Children Melanie Craig (Companion Tom Bland), Janie Voiles (husband Wendell. Dale Craig. Grandchildren Stephanie (husband Matt) Owens, Nathan (wife Jessica) Stearns, Whitney Voiles, Amanda Voiles, Great Grandchildren Trey Owens, Keala Owens, Zach Stearns, Lexia and Noah Voiles. Brothers Kendall (wife Lousie) Craig, Arnold Craig, Ronald Craig lots of nieces, nephews.
Preceded
by his parents, brothers Dallas, John, Willis, Randall Craig. Sisters Gladys
and Gene. Grandson Danny Jack Baker.

CUMMINGS -- Norman C. Cummings, age 76, of New Castle (IN) died Friday morning, April 23, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Carmel following an extended illness. He was born October 31, 1927 in New Castle, a son of the late Hershel and Gertrude Cummings (of Clinton Co., KY).
He attended New Lisbon Shcools. He served in the Merchant Marines and U.S. Army. He retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1989 after 37 years of service. He was a member of UAW Union Local #.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years: Judith A. Cummings of New Castle; a son: Patrick G. (wife: Patricia) Cummings, of Burlington, Vermont; a granddaughter; a great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; several brothers and sisters in law; and his mother-in-law: Velma Williams of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; three sisters; and a great granddaughter.
Services Monday, April 26, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Hensey-Brown Funeral Service. Reverend Tim Cox and Ronald Perry, officiating. DISHMAN -- Felix
S., age 87, of New Castle, went
to
be with the Lord Monday while surrounded by his family at Ball Memorial
Hospital in Muncie. He was born December 23, 1919 in Wayne County,
Kentucky,
a son of the late Daniel Powers and Willie Belle (Hill) Dishman.
He had owned and operated Dishman's Meat Markets in New Castle and Mt. Summit, Cleveland Locker Plant in Springport, and Randolph County Meats in Winchester where he provided employment and income to many of the local community members while also supporting the needs of his family.
He developed Prairie Heights Subdivision (originally Dishman Prairie Heights) in Springport where he raised his family. During semi-retirement he continued to develop and grow personal relationships with family, friends, and acquaintances by finding a common topic of interest with each. One way we saw these relationships in action was through his love of gardening as he gave freshly-grown produce to those around him. He also enjoyed semi-retirement by hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.
Many of his Saturdays were spent at the flea-market where he popped pork rinds and of course, built relationships with each around him. As a member of the Church of God he often shared his wisdom and life experiences through testimony at Brown Road and Mechanicsburg Churches of God, and previously the Highway 39 Church of God in Athens, TN.
He leaves to cherish his

Born in Clinton County, KY son of Gracie Brown and the late Luther Fulton. He married Hazel Hancock who survives.

GEDDES -- Roxia W. Geddes, 95, of Hoopeston (Illinois) died at 5:35am Saturday (July 9, 2005) at Hoopeston Community Memorial Nursing Home, Hoopeston, Illinois.
Funeral services will be at 10:30am Monday (July 10, 2005) at Brown-Alkire Funeral Home, 309 E. Washington St., Hoopeston. The Rev. Janet Eggleston will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30am Monday at the funeral home.
She was born April 28, 1910, in Albany, Ky., a daughter of Robert and Sophia Rains Wray. She married Donald R. Miller. She later married John Geddes. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a grandson. She was preceded in death by a sister and two sons.
She attended Hoopeston schools and attended the Methodist Church in Hoopeston. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.

GRIFFIN -- John S., age 94, of Greenfield, formerly of New Castle, died Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born January 11, 1914 in Albany, Kentucky to the late William Lee and Ida (Wright) Griffin.
He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1976 after 30 years of service, where he was an active member of UAW Local 371.
A veteran of the United States Army during World War II, he was involved in the Invasion of Normandy and served in the European Theater from 1942 to 1945. Prior to his military experience he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the
Great Depression.
He attended Foursquare Church in New Castle and was a member of the American Legion and a Life Member of Disabled American Veterans. He was also actively involved in the Henry County Conservation Club.
Survivors include his wife: Ruby Ann Griffin whom he married November 24, 1960; a son: John A. "Tony" Griffin of Greenfield; four sisters: Bessie Tapley of New Castle, Ruby Curtis of Richmond, Vinnie Murray of Albany,
KY and Colleen Cross of Louisville, KY and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother: Myrtle Means Griffin; two sisters: Jennie Cross and Jessie Griffin; two brothers: Willie and Wendell Griffin.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral

GROVES -- Eva B. Groves, 84, a resident of New Castle died unexpectedly Friday, October 26, 2007 at her home. She was born December 14, 1922 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late John and Nancy (Guffey) Stephens.
A homemaker, she had worked for Chrysler Corp. during the war. She was a former member of the Broad St. Church of the Nazarene in New Castle.
She enjoyed cooking and was the happiest when caring for others. Affectionately known as "granny" she was loved by many friends in the community. She devoted her life to her family whom she dearly loved.
Survivors include

Judy (husband: Wayne) Galloway of New Castle; two sons: Donald (wife:

HOLBROOK -- Ethel Holbrook, 88, died at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at the Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
Mrs. Holbrook was born on 7 April 1914 in Clinton County, Kentucky, a daughter of all and Arminda (Smith) Sheckels. She spent her formative years there, and moved to Fort Wayne in 1936.
On May 17, 1947 she was married in DeKalb County to Lee Ports Holbrook, and had lived at her present home in Butler Township since that time. Mr. Holbrook preceded her in death in 1963.
She was a homemaker, and was a member of the LaOtto Wesleyan Church.
The surviving relatives include four sons and daughters-in-law Robert L. and Helen Holbrook of Wolcottville, Howard J. and Fay Holbrook of Garrett, Joe D. and Carmen Holbrook of LaOtto, and Donnie P. and Joan Holbrook of Huntertown; a brother Samuel "Jack" Sheckels of Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

MOLEN -- Carol A. Molen was born on August 8, 1940 in Rock Island, Illinois. Carol passed away on August 18, 2008 in Panorama City, California. Carol is survived by her husband Brad; children Shelly (Carl) Hansen, James (Michele) Molen and Sheryl (Dean) Smith and 9 living grandchildren - Brandon, Shawn, and Alyssa Hansen; Ashley, Brittany and Colton Molen and Amber, KJ and Hunter Smith. She is preceded in death by a grandson (Donnie Smith).
Carol had a love of family and friends. Other than her family, her main hobbies were genealogy and family preparedness. She learned genealogy from her grandfather and felt his influence many times in searching out progenators.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 22, 2008 at 11:00 am at the L.D.S. Church located in Mission Hills, California. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, Chatsworth, California.

NEAL -- Mrs. Lue Gertrude (Garner) Neal, age 92 years old , died at her residence, near here at 4:15 o'clock Wednsday morning. She was born Clinton co. Ky 1854. She is survived by six sons, Marcus, White Heathe, Ill. Robert and Eli of New Goshen, Jn and Lige, R.R. 2 Weat Terra Haute, Theodore, Peoria, Ill. Three daghters, Jalapa Foley, Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Bessie Wilson,
Bicknell, Ind and Mrs. Lonia Wardell,R.R. 5, Marshell, Ill. The body was taken to the First Funeral Home in Clinton Ind. and Thursday morning will be taken to the residence of the son, Lige Neal, R.R. 2 West Terra Haute. Funeral services will be held at the Pilgram Holiness church here at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Buriel will be in Shephard cemetry.

NEAL -- Becky E., age 86, of 905 N. Illinois Ct., died Thursday night at the Linton Nursing Home. She was born July 8, 1886 in Clinton County Kentucky, the daughter of James and Amanda Daniel.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Beulah Pritchard, of Indianapolis, and three sons, CordellStone, Logan Stone, and Stanley Stone, all of Bloomington. One sister, Mrs. May Angel, of Albany,KY. survives along with 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the 11th St. Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Greene and Harrell Funeral Home, with burial in the Simpson Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. today and on Sunday from 2-9 p.m.

Masonic rites will be accorded at 8 p.m. today at
the funeral home. Mr. Neathery died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 16, 2003) at Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital. He was born March 4, 1903 in Albany, KY, a son of Louis F> & Betty Wells Neathery. He married Pernie Thomas on Jan. 25, 1925 in Snow, KY. She died in February 1980. Survivors include two sons, ael Neathery of Hoopeston and Lynn Neathery of Lenexa, KS; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by a son, a daughter, 14 brothers and sisters and two grandchildren. Mr. Neathery farmed for most of his life, retiring in 1975. He was a member of First Christian Church of Hoopeston; Star Lodge 709 in Hoopeston; and Farm Bureau. He was also an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. REEDER -- Willie A., age 75, a resident of New Castle went home Saturday morning, January 19, 2008 from Heritage House of New Castle following an extended illness. Hew was born March 23, 1932 in Albany, Kentucky and was a son of the late Jonathan D. and Judy Belle (Stockton) Reeder.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the United States Army. Mr. Reeder retired from Ingersoll Steel, New Castle in 1985 after 30 years of service. He was later employed by the city of New Castle as well as Dean Harmon Custodial Services. A member of the Kennard Baptist Church, he enjoyed fishing, repairing lawn mowers and feeding the squirrels.
Survivors include two daughters; Shirley (husband: Rick) Hall of Lewisville and Judy (husband: Mark) Hanna of New Castle; three grandchildren: Wendi M. Hall, Jason D. (wife: Samantha) Hall and Chelsey R. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 21 and from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday, January 22 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral service in New Castle. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Greg Guffey officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and the VFW. REEVES -- Mrs. Polly Ann (Burchett) Reeves died Tuesday night, 25 October 1921 at the home of her son, [State Representative] Ice B. Reeves, 1602 East Lamar Street, (Sherman, Texas) at 7:40 o'clock Tuesday night. Mrs. Reeves would have been 92 years old on April 5 next. Death was due to the infirmities of old age.
The body was shipped Wednesday afternoon to Newcastle in Young County (Texas), accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Reeves. Funeral services will be held in the family cemetery at the old home place near Newcastle Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Black, a pioneer Baptist minsiter of Graham, and an old friend of the family. Mrs. Reeves will be laid to rest in the family burial plot by the side of her husband, Arthur D. Reeves, who died in 1899.
Mrs. Reeves was the mother of sixteen children, ten daughters and six sons, none of whom were twins. *She reared all of them to manhood and womanhood and is survived by seven children as follows: R.C. Reeves, Paducah, Texas; Mrs. Jennie Dabney, Albany, Kentucky; Mrs. ELla Pierce, Woodson, Texas; Mrs. Arlee Cummins, Willington, Texas; Mrs. Myrtie Lee Daugherty, Plainview, Texas; Mrs. Amelia Bartlett, Willington, Texas; and Ice B. Reeves of this city, with whom Mrs. Reeves made her home.
Mrs. REEVES was born in Clinton County, Kentucky, in 1830. She was married when she was 20 years of age and lived in Kentucky for thirty-five years after her marriage, coming to Texas with her husband and family in 1885. They settled in Young County (Texas), and she lived there for twenty years. After her husband’s death, she made her home with her children, and for the past few years had lived with her son here.
Mrs. REEVES joined the Baptist church when she was 18 years of age, and had been a devoted member for three-quarters of a century. At the time of her death, she enjoyed the distinction of being one of the oldest Baptists in America, both in age and in years of membership. In spite of her advanced years, Mrs. REEVES was as bright and active mentally as women many years younger up to the time of her last illness. She was of a very genial, cheerful disposition, and was a great favorite in the neighborhood in which she lived. She was much beloved by all who knew her, and during the years she lived in Sherman (Texas) made many friends who deeply mourn her death.
Notes:Mary Ann "Polly" BURCHETT was a daughter of Icil BURCHETT and wife Elizabeth "Betsy" HENRY, both of whom are buried in the Icil BURCHETT Cemetery, Clinton Co., KY.
* This statement is inaccurate, as five of Polly and Arthur's babies and small children died in 1858 in Clinton Co., presumably due to an epidemic illness.

TANKERSLEY -- Mary Magdeline Tankersley, 76, Shearin Avenue, formerly of Carpenter's
Creek Road, died Thursday at home.
Born July 3, 1925, in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John and Judy Belle Stockton Reeder. She was a homemaker and retired farmer, a member of the Methodist Church and the widow of Harold J. Tankersley.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Rice and Mary Hreha, both of Danville; a stepson, Ronald G. Tankersley of Destin, Fla.; two brothers, Willie A. Reeder of New Castle, Ind., and Herman Reeder of Indiana; a sister, Christine Tankersley of Beckley, W.V.; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by Gary Story. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

THURMAN -- Jewell E., 84, retired factory worker, widow of Odell Thurman, died Saturday. Services 2 p.m. Tuesday, Campbell Funeral Home. Visitation 5-9 p.m. today.

WILLIAMS -- Mary Miller, 78, formerly of Clinton County, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, 14 June 2004 at Valley Manor in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania.
She had been ill for many years.
Mary was the first daughter
born to the late Della Sprouls Miller and John Albert "Dude" Miller, on 12 AUgust 1925 in Clinton County. She attended New Hope Elementary School in ALbany and Dunbar High School in Somerset, Kentucky. She spent most of her life in Clinton County. She moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to live with
her daughter when she became ill.
Mary was employed at Lake Cumberland Community Service Organization until her retirement. She was very involved in Sunday School and Church. She had a wonderful voice for singing. She touched many lives in many ways, being an immaculate housekeeper and an
excellent cook.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Lyle Raymond Miller and Johnie Morrell Miller.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Freida (Craig) Thomas of Ocala, Florida; three grandchildren: Nicole (Michael) Brown of West Palm Beach, Florida; Jennifer Stevenson
of Little River, South Carolina; and Javon Craig Thomas of Jersey City, New Jersey; three great-grandchildren: Michael and Mycah Brown of Florida, and Rameque Kirkland of S. Carolina. She also leaves two brothers, William Russell (Edith) Miller of Cleveland, Ohio, and Richard (Ila) Miller of Akron, Ohio;
two sisters: Imogene (Samuel) Moffett of Laurel, MS, and Sallye Mae (Robert) McDougal of Albany, Kentucky; two sister-in-laws: Madelyn Miller of Somerset, Kentucky, and Eloise Miller of Akron Ohio; former sister-in-law: Virginia Lucille Jones Miller of Copley, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services were on Tuesday, 22 June 2004 at 2:00 pm at Talbott Funeral Home in Albany, Kentucky. Rev. Thomas Hill officiated.
Pallbearers were Bob Sawyer, Robert Sprouls, Robert McDougal, Larry Johnson, Allen Duvall, and Udell Crosby. Burial was at Memorial Hill Cemetery, Albany, Kentucky.

WILLIAMS -- Myrtie B. Williams, age 83, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 26th, 2007 at the Waters of New Castle. She was born April 9th, 1924 in Albany, Ky. and was the daughter of the late Willie and Bertha (Neal) Covey.
Myrtie was a homemaker and loving wife , mother, and grandmother to a large family and attended The Salvation Army Church.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, whom she married May 7th, 1949 in Jamestown, Tenn., Ray C. Williams of New Castle; six children including, Linda (husband-Eugene) Sells of New Castle, Margie (husband-Donald) Strunk of Eldorado, Ohio, Larry Williams of Rome, New York, Bob (wife-Jeania) Williams of Hilliard, Ohio, Kathy (husband-William) Mefford of Knightstown, In., and Angie (husband-Jason) Zentz of Mt. Summit ; 20 grandchildren ; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special thanks to caregivers Inga, Jackie, and Cindy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her mother and father -in-law Bill and Bessie Williams; a grandson, Jeffrey Williams (1978); one brother, Billy Covey ; three sisters, Betty Smith, Della Davis, Ellie Looper.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday , September 29th, 2007 at the Marcum Community Funeral Home with Major Marilyn Riggs and Major Brenda Pittman officiating. Burial will follow at the South Mound Cemetery, Westlawn Addition. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
