George Washington BROWN was born April 3, 1874 in Wayne Co., KY to Jane (BERTRAM) (born May 16, 1848) and Elijah BROWN (born May 3, 1843). Elijah BROWN was the son of Elizabeth "Betsy" (SHELTON) and Michael BROWN of Clinton Co., KY. Jane (BERTRAM) BROWN was the daughter of Pharaba (ADKINS) and Rev. Jonathan BERTRAM of Wayne Co., KY.

Martha Ellot STINSON was born July 16, 1870 KY to Lavina (RIGNEY) and William Henry H. STINSON, who had married in Wayne Co., KY on Sept. 5, 1861. Martha married George Washington BROWN in Clinton Co., KY in 1892.

Their daughter, Alma Lou BROWN (1904-1961) married Lonnie Beckam BERTRAM in Allardt, Fentress Co., TN on May 24, 1927. Beckam was born July 17, 1901 in Sunnybrook, Wayne Co., KY to Rosa Senabell (DeROSSETT) and Porter Harrison BERTRAM.

George had the following siblings: Feraba Ellen BROWN (known as Ellen), born Nov. 20, 1871 in Wayne Co., KY; Nancy Elizabeth "Lizzie" BROWN, born about 1872 KY; General Marion "Gent" BROWN, born March 1876; William Fount Brown, born Jan. 1878; Prentiss Brown, born about 1878; and Arlena B. Brown, born Feb. 28, 1884.
