The Family of John C. Andrews

John C. Andrews, born 1808, Beaver Creek, Wayne County, KY, was one of the sons of Daniel Andrews, Jr. and Mary Ann Cooper. The Andrews family moved from Wayne County, KY to Overton County, TN. When John C. was a grown man, he moved to Seventy-Six Falls, Clinton County, KY. There he owned several businesses, including a grist mill, sawmill, blacksmith and cabinet shop. His first wife was Elizabeth Back Cooper, whom he married on May 16, 1832 in Wayne County, KY. After Elizabeth's death, he married Mary "Polly" Rogers, then after her death he married Hannah Wells.

Elizabeth Back Cooper was born in Wayne County, KY in 1816 to either Henry Cooper and Patience Back or to Daniel Cooper and Nancy Back (conflicting information found). Elizabeth Cooper Andrews died Jan 3, 1845. Elizabeth Cooper and John C. Andrews had five sons: Henry Byron, Minton D, Jacob Jackson, Frethias, and Shelby Granville.

Henry Byron Andrews (1834-1890), his first wife was Louisa Jane Hopkins, daughter of Thomas Hopkins and Matilda Ryan. His second wife was Mary Hammond.

Milton D. Andrews (1836-1900) married Sarah Ann Wells, daughter of John Wells and Malinda Winfrey, and sister to Hannah Wells, who married John C. Andrews. They had two children:

Jacob Jackson (1838-1886) married Luretha Sandusky. They had 6 children.

Frethias (1839-1892) married Louisa Wells, daughter of John Wells's brother Solomon. They had 10 children.

Shelby Granville (1842-1867) married Isabell Vincient. They had one daughter before Shelby's death. Later, Isabell married George Wyatt Tarter.
