On this 10th day
of February, 1888, at Schichoh, County
of Logan,
State of Kentucky, before me, Wray Beattie a Special
Examiner of the Pension Office, personally appeared Dr. L. Bennett ~,
who being by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded
to him during
this Special Examination of aforesaid Pension Claim, deposes and says: :
My age is 60 years. P. O. address, Schichoh, Kentucky. Occupation – Physician.
I was surgeon in the 13th Ky. Calvary from September 1863 to Jan. 1865.
Q: Sir you know Eli Brown who was a private in Co. H. 13th Ky. Calvary
Volunteers?
A: I don’t recollect him personally. I, however, recollect that name
in the Regiment but I cannot recall the man. I have no recollection of having
treated him in the service or at any time.
Q: It is alleged that Mr. Brown contracted lung disease in the service
from which he died in 1868.
Have you
still any recollection of such a man?
A: I have no recollection yet of that man.
