William Gabbert the son of James Rice Gabbert and Nancy Looney of Clinton County.
He was born circa 1838 and married Kittie Ellen Luttrell on 17 Feb 1861 in Clinton County, KY. She was the daughter of S. Carter Luttrell and Susan Andrews.
This photo was taken circa 1860.
According to his son, Curley, William served for the Confederacy and was killed at Woodbury, KY. This photo was taken when he came in for a visit. It was a glass negative and he carried it in his pocket - thereby explaining the scratches. This visit was the last he saw his father.
There is no documentation of William's civil war activities.
He should not be confused with his uncle William G. Gabbert, who is the son of John Gabbert & Catherine Lynn.
