Carter Deed
Deed Book B, page 306 & 307
This day personally appeared before me, Wm Cole,
one of the commonwealth Justices of the peace for Cumberland County, John
Phillips Sr & made oath that Samuel Carter and Elizabeth Fowlar was married
about fourty years ago or there about and in Loudes Co, Virginia and according
to the law of that state.
Given under my hand this 7th day of Sept
1813.

(looks like it may have been in conjuction with a
war of 1812 pension record for Elizabeth Fowlar Carter or something like
that.
