Frequent visitor: Rane STATON (according to Charles S. Guthrie in his
book, The Masons and Lodges of Cumberland County, Kentucky 1815-1891,
page 3, this Staton was born in Virginia in 1768 and was a Master Mason
in Warren Lodge No. 33 in Warren (Albemarle County) Virginia on October
9, 1813, but apparently neverbecame a member of any Cumberland County
Lodge.)
When the new Burkesville Lodge, No. 149 was organized in 1846 many of
the above mentioned men became members.

Masonic Hall was headquarters of the 12th Cavalry (Union) in April of
1863. Past Master William N. Alexander moved his family to Indiana to
escape the war and returned at its conclusion. The Lodge was closed down
during the war its charter revoked October 17, 1866 and a newly
organized Lodge was begun...
