Pleasant Hill Cemetery
This list taken from tombstones Jan.
31, 1998 by Lian K. Thomas
(on the hill above what was formerly Ellington, KY near Whites Bottoms,
KY)
Straight up the hill from the Taylor family cemetery (literally) is the
current Pleasant Hill Church. The original church stood on this site, and the
Pleasant Hill school was across the road from it. Hard to believe, when the
slope is almost a straight drop down. Founded in 1867, the current church has
set little wooden plank swingsets and a men and a womens outhouse in the side
yard. The cemetery is located in back of the church.
To get to the
cemetery, take Highway 61 south, out of Burkesville, Kentucky towards Dale
Hollow Lake and watch for signs placed by the congregation or you can turn on
Highway 485 (approximately 5 miles out) and stay on that road for about 5 miles
or so. Go past Garner-Norris Road to the next gravel road (across from Riley's
farm) and go STRAIGHT UP to the top of the hill.
