Cemeteries

These listings and photos have been submitted by volunteers researching their own family lines.  None of the enumerations are complete.

Please note -- Audrey Skeen has most generously volunteered to take headstone photos in Fleming County cemeteries once it has warmed up.  She may be contacted at a_udrske@aol.com (remove the underscore from her e-mail address in order to send).  Now remember that she's doing this on her own time, so please don't overwhelm her with requests for lots of photos.   Thank you for your help, Audrey!

Also, Jane Adams has contributed cemetery records which she transcribed from the Fleming County courthouse records.  Thank you, Jane!

POPLAR RUN CEMETERY NOTICE

Volunteers GRACIOUSLY spent a great deal of time and labor three Saturdays this October beginning the laborious task of cleaning up of the Poplar Run Cemetery located on Route 32 between Elizaville and Cowan.  This cemetery has been abandoned for many years and contains over 300 known graves.  Two graves are of Civil War veterans and one is of a Revolutionary War veteran.  Let's show our respect and gratitude by helping with the restoration of this cemetery.  For photos of this cemetery's 'before' look, click here (it's quite appalling).

If you live out of the area but would still like to contribute, donations can be made to the Ewing Baptist Church, 1676 Ewing Rd., Ewing, KY  41039.  Please notate your donation with Poplar Run Cemetery.  For more information call Billy G. Cowan at 606-267-2274 or Elaine Logan at 606-876-2121.

He is buried in Fleming County but we don’t know where (probably on a farm somewhere).
