Joe DeSpain sent this information:
He [William Buckner} and his nephew, Charles F., were killed in the Seventh Ave. Hotel in Louisville in Dec., 1915, after having attended the inauguration of Gov. Stanley. W. A. Buckner, Charles F. Buckner, and C. C. Morgan died as a result of the fire, which some suspected as having been arson. According to the Green County Record, 10 Dec. 1915, p. 5, they were "trapped in room no. 1 at the head of the stairs over the kitchen, the stairs being on fire and their window looking out over the kitchen which was filled with fire. They tried to find another outlet through an unused storeroom and were suffocated by the smoke and blistered by the heat." William and Charles were taken to the John B. Ratterman funeral home, 1127 W. Market St., then brought to the Green River Hotel in Greensburg before being taken home.
