          Charlotte A. Louden, 70, of Pendleton, died Sunday, July 21, 2013.  She was a member of the Sligo Baptist Church.          

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Louden; daughters: Vickie (Paul) Garvin and Jennifer (Jerry, Jr.) Rankin; grandchild: Dylan Rankin; sisters: Mildred Cole, Noreen Moore, Betty Jean Moore and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lottie, Burrows and brothers, Leon and Paul Burrows.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25 at the Oldham County Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Burial was in the Sligo Baptist Church Cemetery.

Milburn Miller

 

          Milburn Charles Miller, 65, of Sulphur, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  He was a native of Grayson County, the son of the late Milburn E. and Sudie Mae Byers Miller, A U. S. Army Reserve/Sgt. First Class 100th Division, a retired captain for the Kentucky Motor Vehicle Enforcement and a member of the Sulphur Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Barbara Weber Miller, Sulphur; one son: Scott Miller, Campbellsburg; one daughter: Kelle Thornhill, Bedford; four brothers: Larry Miller, Henryville, IN, Kirby Miller and David Miller, both of LaGrange, and Oscar Miller, Louisville; three sisters: Anne Miller, LaGrange, Barbara Priest, Pendleton and Jennette Warner, Uniontown, OH; and five grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at the Sulphur Baptist Church.  Rev. Roy Lillpop and Rev. Dwayne Walker officiated.  Burial was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.  Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange, was in charge of arrangements.

Joe Moore

 

          Joe W. Moore, 68, of Bedford, died Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton.  He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late Charles �Shug� and Lizzie Ann Blackaby Moore and a truck driver.

            He is survived by his wife: Carolyn Moore, Bedford; one son: Ricky Moore, Milton; one daughter: Connie Moore Taylor, Sulphur; five brothers: Estill Moore, Madison, IN, Maxie Moore, Donnie Moore, Isaac Moore and Charles Moore, Jr., all of Campbellsburg; one sister: Sue Moore Joslin, Campbellsburg and three grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, 14 T Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Burial was in the Bedford IOOF Cemetery.  Bro. Devon Ellison, Bro. Bill Burkhardt and Bro. Cecil Ellison officiated.

Cora Moore

 

          Cora B. Moore, 86, of Campbellsburg, died Friday, January 4, 2002 in Columbus, IN.  She was the daughter of the late Louis and Mildred Hinkle Kiphart and a member of the First Baptist Church, Eminence.

            She is survived by five daughters: Stella Mae Branom, Owenton, Naomi Wilson, Addie B. Moore and Elizabeth F. Harris, all of Columbus, IN and Letha Davis, Campbellsburg; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William Moore.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 7 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Robert J. Fields, Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Eminence, officiated, assisted by Elder Lonnie Hardin, Pastor of the New Life Community Church.  Interment was in the Jonesville Family Cemetery.

Elizabeth Moore

 

          Elizabeth jean Moore, 77, of New Castle, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late George Jesse and Emma Grace Moore.

            She is survived by one son: Gerald Douglas (Minnie) Moore, New Castle and one daughter: Sandy Jo Dixon, Campbellsburg.

            Cremation was chosen.  Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville, was in charge of arrangements.

Emma Moore

 

          Emma Grace Moore, 90, of Lockport, died Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at Bedford Health Care Center.  She was the daughter of the late Joe and Liza Noe Moore, a homemaker and a member of the Gratz Baptist Church.

            She is survived by one son: Charles �Pete� Moore, Gest; one daughter: Elizabeth Jean Moore, Lafayette, IN; one sister: Josephine Tankersley, Louisville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George Jesse Moore and one son, Estil Moore.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 19 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Wayne Kelly, Pastor of the Lockport Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Maudie Moore

 

          Maudie Catherine Moore, 81, of Carrolton, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Edward L. and Anna Mae Clark Frazier, and attended the Faith Covenant Church, Madison, IN.

            She is survived by one daughter: Sara (Bobby) Mertz Rabourn, Campbellsburg; four sons: Fred Mertz and James Mertz, both of Carrollton, Frank Mertz and Charles Mertz, both of New Castle; two sisters: Louise Frazier Martin, New Castle and Mae Frazier Jackson, Bedford; four brothers: Mark Frazier, Eminence, Henry Frazier, New Castle, Owen Frazier, Campbellsburg and Alan Frazier, Bedford; twenty-two grandchildren; fifty great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Judy Snell, pastor of the Faith Covenant Church, Madison, In, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Oscar Moore

 

          Oscar Dan Moore, 74, of New Castle, died Saturday, August 10, 2002 at the Bedford Health Care.  He was a native of Lily, a U. S. Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War wit5h twenty-one years of service, a former deputy Sheriff for two terms and a member of the Henry County FOP.

            He is survived by two sons: Marko Moore, Shelbyville and Danny Moore, Clarksville, TN; two sisters: Rosie Bryant, Shelbyville and Dorothy Gregory, Corbin; one brother: Robert E. Moore, Florence and two grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 13 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Cremation was chosen. Chaplain Keith Taylor officiated.  Interment was in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Paul Moore, Jr.

 

          Paul Jones Moore, Jr., 20, of Eminence, died Friday, January 11, 2002 at Humana Hospital, Louisville.  He was a factory employee and a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, New Castle.

            He is survived by one son: Quentin Paul Moore, Louisville; his father: Paul Jones Moore, Sr., Lexington; one sister: Jessica Moore, Eminence; one brother: Steve A. Moore, Eminence; grandparents: Carolyn Payne, Eminence, David and Gwen Payne, Simpsonville and Emma Moore, Eminence.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Ann Payne.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 15 at the Main Street Baptist Church, New Castle.  Rev. Meredith Trabue, Pastor of the Main Street Baptist Church, New Castle, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ebbie Moppins

 

          Ebbie Roberts Moppins, of New Castle, formerly of Bethlehem, died Friday, March 5, 2004 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Richard and Annie Roberts Woods and a homemaker.

            She is survived by three sons: Henry Aldridge, New Castle, Chester Aldridge, Louisville and Homer Aldridge, Bethlehem; a half-brother: Wheeler Woods, New Castle and several nieces.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Moppins and one son, Howard Aldridge.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 8 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Mitchell Embry officiated.  Burial was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Sid Morgan

 

Sid Morgan, 83, former judge of Henry County and former Judge of the Eminence Police Court, died at his home in Eminence at 1o:00 p.m. Saturday following an illness of several months.  He suffered a slight stroke several weeks ago and never recovered.

Morgan won the outstanding race for Henry County Judge in the history of the county in 1933 when he defeated four outstanding candidates.  The race was close and the counting of the ballots decided the winner in the final precinct.  He was engaged in the mercantile business in Louisville and in Henry County prior to being elected County Judge.

He is survived by his wife: Susan Smith Morgan and a daughter: Mrs. C. C. Seaton, Louisville.

Funeral services were conducted at rickets Funeral Home in Eminence at 2:00 p.m. Monday.  Rev. Walter Piper officiated.  Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Charles Morrison

 

          Charles �Pete� Morrison, 80, of Bedford, died June 27, 2013 in Bedford.  He was the son of the late Frank Lee and Gertrude Ball Morrison.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. 

He is survived by his wife: Catherine Marie Batts Morrison; his children: Trudy Wheeler, New Castle, Brenda Riley, Cathy Scott, Rita Davis, all of Bedford and Carl Morrison, Louisville.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Bedford Cemetery.  Rev. Bobby Wade officiated.  Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Morrison

 

          Margaret Morrison, 67, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late John Royalty and Kathryn Breshear Royalty.

            She is survived by her daughter: Lynette Kessinger, Shelbyville; and sons: Lane Morrison, Shelbyville and Paul Wilson, Nashville, TN.

            A memorial service was held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 24 at the Burks Branch Baptist Church.  Rev. Marshall Phillips officiated.  Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville was in charge of arrangements.

Wilma Pearl Beverly Parrish

 

          Wilma Pearl Beverly Parrish, 85, of Pikeville, formerly of the Lockport area, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Cedar Creek Assisted Living in Pikeville.  She was born in Gratz on October 6, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Marvin and Lucille Hackett Beverly.  She was a homemaker, bookkeeper and a member of the Lockport Methodist Church.

            She is survived by her husband: Woodrow �Woody� Parrish; one son: M. Lynn (Jessica) Parrish, Pikeville; one daughter: Beverly (Jim) Reynolds, Pikeville; one sister: Alma Casey, Kilgore, TX; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and James Beverly and one sister, Elaine Beverly Moore. 

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Paul Briscoe and Rev. Wayne Kelly officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Charles Payton, Jr.

 

          Charles Payton, Jr., 85, of Eminence, formerly of Bethlehem and Louisville, died Friday, March 2, 2001 at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  He was the son of the late Charles and Ada Katherine Purvis Payton, Sr., a retired farmer, an auto mechanic and a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

            He is survived by two daughters: Betty Jean (Robert) Eadens, Lexington and Geraldine (Bill) Talbert, New Castle; three sons: Bobby Joe Payton, Louisville, Edward Harold Payton, Shepherdsville and Chester Thomas Payton, Fairdale; one sister: Jo Ann McCarty, Eminence; one brother: Tommy Payton, Eminence; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Perry Payton.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Rick Coleman, Pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Dona B. Payton

 

          Dona Baxter Payton, 62, died Tuesday, March 6, 1945 at her home in Turners Station following an illness of several months of heart trouble.  She was a member of the Turners Station Baptist Church.

            Funeral services were conducted at the Turners Station Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.  Rev. W. L. Cloud officiated.  Burial was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

            She is survived by her husband: Ben Payton; two daughters: Trula Mae Pyles, Trimble County and Leah Bell Turner, Turners Station; four sons: Luther Payton, New Castle, Estill Payton, Trimble County, Alfonzo Payton, Lyndon and Alonzo Payton, Port Royal; one sister: Mrs. Chester Chilton, Lacie and two brothers: Joseph Baxter and Homer Baxter, both of Louisville.

Edythe V. Payton

 

          Edythe V. Payton, 94, of Louisville, died Thursday, June 9, 2003 at Hurstbourne Health and Rehab.  She was a native of Henry County, a seamstress at W. M. Cissell Manufacturers and a member of the First Alliance Church.

            She is survived by one niece: Velma Blair and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11 at Highlands Family Owned Funeral Home.  Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Joe Payton, Sr.

 

          Joe Payton, Sr., 71, of New Castle died Tuesday, August 21, 2001 after an illness at his residence.  He was a native of Oldham County, the son of the late Matt and Liz Raisor Payton, a retired custodian at the Henry and Shelby County Schools and attended the New Castle Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Rose Preston Payton, New Castle; one daughter: Emma Jean Herrell, Frankfort; three sons: Joe Payton, Jr., Port Royal, Calvin Payton, Eminence and Josh Payton, New Castle; two sisters: Mildred (Earl) Ellis, Sr. and Sue (Wilbur) Arington, both of New Castle and six grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 24 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Kevin Whitt, Pastor of the Harvest Community Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

L. G. Payton

 

          L. G. Payton, 86, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, April 4, 1998 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville, after a long illness.  He was the son of the late Dave and Dovie Purvis Payton, a retired farmer and a member of the Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Virginia Hoskins Payton, Bethlehem and one sister: Edith (Ralph) Fitzgerald, Cropper.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral.  Rev. Windy McClung, Pastor of the Berea Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Mildred Payton

 

          Mildred C. Payton, 85, of Port Royal, died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at Homestead

Nursing Center in New Castle.  She was a retired employee of the Brunswick Corporation, a member of the Port Royal Baptist Church and the daughter of the late Avery and Mamie Kopp McGuire.

            She is survived by her son: Dan Payton, Waddy; three grandchildren and a nephew.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo �Frog� Payton, a son, David L. Payton, a grandson, Ricky L. Payton and a great grandson, Jeremy Allen Payton.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Minnie Payton

 

          Minnie Mae Hammond Payton, 81, of New Castle, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Norton�s Brownsboro Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Claude Arnold and Mary Lillian Miles Hammond.

            She is survived by her husband: Maurice D. Payton, New Castle; four daughters: Cathy Cox, Betty Mae Evans and Sally Holcomb Welch, all of New Castle and Jean Holcomb Perry, Eminence; four sons: Maurice Ray Payton, New Castle; Todd Allen Payton and Larry Gene Holcomb, both of Eminence, and Charlie Lee Holcomb, Louisville.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Robert Payton

 

          Robert Payton, 77, of New Castle, died Monday, August 12, 2002 at the Lincoln Hill health Center, New Albany, IN after an illness.  He was the son of the late Loyd and Eloise Purvis Payton, a retired farmer and construction Worker.

            He is survived by his wife: Viola Sharp Payton, New Castle; one son: Carol Ray Payton, Cox�s Creek; two sisters: Patsy Sevier, New Castle and Eloise Beckley, Pendleton; three brothers: Billy Ray Payton and Maurice Dean Payton, both of New Castle and Coleman Payton, Sulphur; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son, George R. Payton.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Forrest B. Chilton, Middletown, officiated.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

William Payton

 

          William E. Payton, 61, of Pendleton, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Baptist Northeast Hospital, LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Benny and Tonnie Bailey Payton.

            He is survived by three sisters: Ida Florence Chilton, Milton, Martha Lois Williams Cook, Buffalo, NY and Lucy Roberts, Carrollton; and three brothers: Benny Payton and George Payton, both of Milton and Floyd Wayne Payton, Louisville.

            Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the New Castle Cemetery.  Rev. Nick Coleman, Sulphur, officiated.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William H. Peniston

 

          William H. Peniston, 93, of Lacie, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castler.  He was born on October 25, 1917 to Tandy and Elizabeth Teague Pensiston, and spent his entire life living and working in the Lacie community.  He was a retired farmer and worked at for the Kentucky State Reformatory in LaGrange.  He was a life-long member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.  Mr. Peniston served forty years as a member of the Henry County Board of Education and was chairman of the board for 20 years.  He was honored by thye Kentucky Departemnt of Education for his commitment to education.

            He is survived by his wife: Beatrice Peniston, Lacie; four sons: William H. (Elizabeth) Peniston, Jr., Danville, J. T. (Phyllis) Peniston, Bedford, Terry L. (Jean) Peniston, Lexington and Lloyd W. (Jennifer) Peniston, New Castle; one sister: Virginia Costel, Louisville; two step-daughters: Connie (Bob) Batts, Turners Station and Patricia Hinton, Maysville; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Martha Chilton Peniston, his second wife, Bea Peniston and one brother, Louis T. Peniston.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 8 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Bro. Mike Frey, Pastor of the Hopewell Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Bro. Bill Arnold of Louisville.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Jane Perkinson

 

          Jane Hoagland Perkinson, 77, of New Castle, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Roy C. and Angie Garriott Hoagland, a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church, and a former secretary for the Kentucky Department of Highways for 20 years.

            She is survived by two sisters: Ann (Luther) Calloway, Leesburg, GA and Frances (Henry) Howard, Lexington; three brothers: James D. Hoagland, Pendleton, Dr. Larry Hoagland, Louisville and Morton M. Hoagland, Danville and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Perkinson.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

          Shelia Shannon Perpingon, 81, of Rising Sun, IN died Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg, IN.  She was a native of Sulphur, the daughter of the late O. C. and Lucille S. Douthitt Shannon, a retired school teacher of the Lawrenceburg School Corporation and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, Rising Sun, IN.

            She is survived by her husband: Robert Perpingon, Rising Sun; one son: Pete Perpingon, Rising Sun; one daughter: Sharon Nichols, Dothan, AL; one brother: Sidney Shannon, Gulfport, FL and five grandchildren.

          Funeral servicees were held on Saturday, March 10 at Markland Funeral Home.  Rev. Chris Miller officiated.  Burial was in the Rising Sun New Cemetery.

          Helen M. Perry, 66, of Louisville, died Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at Norton Audubon Hospital, Louisville.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Howard and Maude Rucker Banta and a member of the Indian Fork Baptist Church, Bagdad.

            She is survived by her husband: Harold Perry; three sons: Charles C., and Anthony S. Palmer and Shawn Perry; one step-daughter: Robin J. Willard Perry

 

          Willard �Will� G. Perry, Jr., 46, of Pleasureville, died Monday, February 9, 2004 at Norton Suburban Hospital, Louisville.  He was a native of Melbourne, FL, the son of the late Willard Grant and Evangeline Eagle Perry, Sr., a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, and auto technician and a member of the Burks Branch Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Meg Perry, Pleasureville; two daughters: April and Amanda Perry, both of Pleasureville; one brother: Harlan Perry, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two sisters: Adelaide Killen, Key West, FL and Wanda Watts, Pleasureville.

            George Edward Portman, 79, of Campbellsburg, died at his residence on July 26, 2013.  He was the son of the late Raymond and Olivia Lush Portman Reynolds.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran.

            He is survived by his children: H. Edward Portman and Tom Portman, both of Louisville, Melinda Portman, Campbellsburg and Martha Raiford, Silverdale, WA and step-children: Sandi Bentley Felkner, Bedford, Shannon Bentley, Muskogee, OK and Howard �Chip� Bentley, Winchester.

          Ray Poynter, 68, of Bedford, died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his home.  He was the son of the late Raymond and Ruby Elizabeth Peace Poynter.

            He is survived by his wife: Lynda Jo Hunt Poynter, Bedford; one son: Timothy Poynter and one daughter: Marti Lawson, of Bedford.

Philip Ray Shaw

 

          Philip Ray Shaw, 76, of Okolona, died July 17, 2013.  Mr. Shaw was born in Henry County and retired from GE after 34 years of service.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.  Among those that preceded him in death were: his parents, James T. Shaw and Edith Mae Flowers; step-father, Paul Rochner, Sr. and grandmother, Annie Clark.

            He leaves the following survivors: his wife of 53 years, Alice F. Shaw; son: William Anthony �Tony� Shaw; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; his step-mother; and many cousins.

            Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, July 21 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home.  Bro. Lorenza Neal officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

          William F. Stivers, 65, of Bedford, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at Bedford Health Care Center.  He was the son of the late George and Hattie Norton Stivers.

            He is survived by his daughter: Renee (Dale) Kemp, Gratz; three sons: John Stivers, Gratz, George Stivers, Vevay, IN and Buddy Stivers, LaGrange; one sister: Betty Wentworth, Frankfort; five brothers: James Stivers, Ray Stivers, both of Frankfort, Darnell Stivers, Owenton, Leo Stivers, Henry County and Joe Stivers, Bedford and eight grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex Stivers and Robert Stivers and one sister, Sissy Brewer.

            He is survived by his wife: Vina Stivers, Eminence; daughter: Beth �Boogie� Jessie, Eminence; brother: Ned Stivers, Jacksonville and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Missi Congleton.

          Willie Nelson Stivers, 91, of Pleasureville, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was the daughter of the late Walter and Lucinda Nelson Stivers, a farmer, homemaker, and a member of the Elmburg Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Waldine Stivers and Phyllis Herrell, both of Pleasureville; one brother: J. W. Nelson, Eminence; three grandchildren; one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsay Stivers and one son, G. W. Stivers.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Todd Woodward, Pastor of the Elmburg Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Otis Clark.  Burial was in the Defoe Cemetery.

          Willie Price Stivers, 97, of New Castle, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  He was a farmer, a member of the New Castle First Baptist Church, son of the late Lindsey and Lillie Johnson Stivers and preceded in death by his wife, Lena Black Stivers, two sons-in-law, Billy Mack and Charlie Carpenter, three sisters and one brother.

            He is survived by two daughters: Vivian Mack, New Castle and Betsy Carpenter, Bedford; a brother: Gentry Stivers, Bagdad; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-granddaughter.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. David Charlton, Pastor of the New Castle First Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Dr. V. Will Ellis Stone

 

          Will Ellis Stone, 89, of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, October 172012 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  He was the son of the late William Ellis Stone, Sr., and Syble Hughes Stone.  He retired from the Illinois Central Railroad in 1984.  He was a lifetime member of the Pleasureville Christian Church.

            He is survived by four cousins: Dean Belwood, Mary Smith and Adelyn Clements, all of Pleasureville and Joyce Puckett, Eminence.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Barbara Minton, Pastor of the Berea Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

          Mary Elizabeth Stout-Spelbring, 71, of Uniontown, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Henderson. 

            She is survived by her husband: Dan Spelbring, Uniontown; a daughter: Mary Ann (Donald) Rowley, Pride; two step-daughters: Sarah (Eric) Spelbring Priester, Evansville, IN and Jonna (Derek) Priester, Campbellsburg; a step-son: Andrew (Angie) Spelbring, Evansville, IN; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son, John Edward Stout II and her first husband, John Edward Stout.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 22 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield.  Rev. Mark Allen officiated.  Burial was in the Old Fellows Cemetery, Morganfield.

          Catherine Nicole Morriss Straw, 27, of Sulphur, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011.  She was the owner of �Two Girls and a Mop� and had attended Daymar College.

            She is survived by her husband: William Scott Straw; children: Katelyn Rose Straw and Colton James McAtee; father and step-mother: Deborah Ann and William J. Whitehouse; siblings: Ashley, Heather, and Albert Morriss, Doug Rice, Chris Whitehouse and Melissa Hennessey; grandparents: Al and Nancy Morriss and Bill and Jackie Korte. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Destiny Alexis Straw, grandfather, Gerald R. Eger and mother-in-law, Sharon L. Straw.

            She is survived by one daughter: June Carter, Moreno Valley, CA; one sister: Lois Meier, Taylors Mill; one brother: Kenneth S. Williams, Turners Station; two grandsons and one great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, O. T. Sullivan.

          Emma Blackaby Suter, 78, of Eminence, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  Daughter of the late Richard and Drusilla Chisholm Blackaby, she was a nurse�s aide and caregiver.  She was also a former member of the Henry County Church of Christ.

            She is survived by one daughter: Shirley (Larry) Holcomb, Eminence; one sister: Margie Yeary, Pleasureville; three grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

John O. Suter

 

          John O. Suter, 86, of Campbellsburg, died Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Bedford Health Care Center.  He was a member of the Campbellsburg Masonic Lodge #249 and the Campbellsburg Baptist Church.  He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was a retired mail carrier.  He was the son of the late Webb Suter, M.D. and Edith Minish Suter.

            He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Berry Suter, Campbellsburg; two sons: Charles W. Suter, Campbellsburg and John D. Suter, Louisville; one daughter: Elaine Eads, Paris; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13 at Ransdell Funeral Home in Campbellsburg.  Rev. Carl Rucker and Rev. Bart Montgomery officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

            He is survived by his wife: Bobbye Case Sutherland, Pleasureville; one daughter: Carrie B. Sutherland Trotta, Pleasureville; two sons: Jeff Sutherland, Monroe, GA and Mark Sutherland, Tennessee; his mother: Christine Jones Sutherland, Eminence; one sister: Janice Ellis, Frankfort; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Melvina Sutlidff

 

          Melvina Allnutt Sutliff, 99, of New Castle, formerly of Venice, FL, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the Masonic Home in Shelbyville.  Daughter of the late Wheeler and Sarah Crawford Payton, she was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Vamo United Methodist Church in Sarasota, FL and previously active in the New Castle United Methodist Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Willa Dee Rains, Sarasota, FL and Iva (Paul) Jackson, Shelbyville; one son: James S. (Bonnie) Allnutt, Shelbyville; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Allnutt, second husband, Finley Sutliff, one daughter, Martha Jane Burkhart and one son, Claude Allnutt.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Jesse Baxter, Chaplain of the Masonic Home, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

          Edna Mae Cox Mitchell Sutton, 63, of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, November 28, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late William and Nola Mae Crossfield Cox.  She was a homemaker and member of the Franklinton Baptist Church.

            She is survived by her husband: Kim Bradley Sutton, Pleasureville; two sons: Thomas �Eddie� (Michelle) Moffett, Frankfort and Kim Bradley Sutton, Jr., Pleasureville; three daughters: Nola �Candy) Juanita (Paul) Mott, Angelique �Angel� Dawn (Jonathan)  Moore and Patricia Ann (Bruce) Tingle, all of Pleasureville; two brothers: Jimmy (Shirley) Cox, Lawrenceburg and Tommy (Sue) Cox, Elmburg; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Clarke and Margaret Josephine Robinson.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jacky Newton, Pastyor of the Franklinton Baptist Church, officiated.  Cremation followed the funeral services.

Martha Sutton

 

          Martha Mae Gilbert Sutton, 79, of Bradford Square Nursing Home, Frankfort, died Tuesday, December 3, 1996 after a long illness.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Leland and Bessie Clark Gilbert, a retired clerk for the Belk Simpson Clothing Store and the Frankfort Dime Store and was a member of the North Benson Baptist Church.

            She is survived by three sons: Gayle F. Sutton, Larry R. Sutton and Terry L. Sutton, all of Frankfort; one sister: Rose Hulette, Frankfort; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Orcie Sutton.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5 at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel, Frankfort.  Rev. Tyre Denney officiated.  Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodford County.

          Elizabeth turner Sympson, 93, died Friday, February 9, 2001 at Carmel, CA.  She was a native of New Castle, a retired lawyer, former publisher of the Henry County Local, a member of the League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women and the Unitarian Universalist Church, Monterey Peninsula, CA.  

            She is survived by one daughter: Frances Gaver, Carmel, CA; one brother: Wirt Turner, Jr., Jensen Beach, FL; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Sympson.

            A memorial service was held at the Unitarian Universalist Church.  Inurnment took place in New Castle.  Paul Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
