James Eades

 

            James “J. W.” Eades, 86, of Eminence, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at his residence.  Son of the late Ecton and Elizabeth Long Eades, he was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran.  He was a carpenter, a member of the Eminence Baptist Church, Eminence Masonic Lodge #282 and the new Castle Simpson Lodge #189.

            He is survived by his daughter: Jan (Brad) Rose, Frankfort. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Eades.

            Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 24th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Dorothy Ellis

 

Dorothy Chisholm Ellis, 90, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Crestview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Ida Hamilton Chisholm, the former owner and operator of Ellis Hardware in Pleasureville and a homemaker.  She was also a member of the First Baptist Church, Shelbyville and a member of the Rebekahs.

She is survived by two nephews: Larry B. (Ann) Chisholm, Defoe and Greg A. Chisholm, Frankfort; one niece: Marilyn Ellis (Ronald) Rose, New Castle; two great-nieces and two great-great-nieces.  She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Dean Ellis.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4th at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Dr. Fred T. Moffat and Dr. Stephen Rice officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Barbara Elliston

 

Barbara Sue Ramsey Elliston, 90, of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late Nell Elliot and Webb Ramsey, Sr.

            She is survived by her husband: Robert C. Elliston, Campbellsburg and one son: Daniel Elliston, Campbellsburg.

            Cremation was chosen. A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Daniel Frank (Danny) Endris

 

          Danniel Frank (Danny) Endris, 71, of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was born in New Albany, IN and was the son of the late Frank and Marie Heilig Endris.  He was a farmer and was retired from GE.  He was a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Beverly Shelton Endris, Pleasureville; two sons: Timothy Kent Endris, Cynthiana and Daniel Scott Endris, Florida; one daughter: Stacy Kennedy, Eddyville; two brothers: James Endris, Salem, IN and Richard Endris, Campbellsburg; five grandchildren: Billy Endris, Coty Endris, Ally Gabbard, Aaron Goodwin and Zachary Sturgeon; one great-grandchild, Alexia Myers and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23rd, at the Point Pleasant Christian Church.  Rev. Kenneth Hardway and Rev. Larry Childress officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Clarence Erwin

 

            Clarence W. Erwin, 86, of Orange Lake, FL, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Monday, May 26, 2008.  Son of the late Richard W. and Nellie Roberts Erwin, he was an auto mechanic and a WWII U. S. Army Veteran, serving in Europe.

            He is survived by two sons: Ronald W. Erwin, Orange Lake, FL, and Terry Wayne Erwin, Florida; and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Nordine Louden Erwin and one son, Kenneth Lee Erwin.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Ruby Erwin

 

            Ruby Baugh Erwin, 79, of Pleasureville died Wednesday, March 10, 1993, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a member of the Pleasureville Christian Church and a homemaker.

            She is survived by one daughter: Rose Anna Erwin Henderson, Pleasureville; one brother: M. J. Baugh, Franklinton; three grandchildren: Sue Carolyn Heckman, Teresa Jean Waits and Debra Ann Wood; six great-grandchildren; one niece: Brenda Banta and one nephew: Ronald Dean Baugh.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Erwin.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13th, at Sholar-Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jack Allen, Pastor of the Pleasureville Christian Church, and Rev. Van Firestine, Pastor of the Pleasureville United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Naomi Ethington

 

            Naomi Chisholm Ethington, 90, of Defoe, died Saturday, February 14, 2009, in Shelbyville.  She was born in Lockport, the daughter of the late David and Nora Beverly Chisholm.  She was a member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church, a retired employee for the Kentucky Secretary of State and a Kentucky Colonel.

            She is survived by four sons: Oscar David Ethington, Wayne Ethington, Eddie Lee Ethington and Hubert Logan Ethington, all of Pleasureville; five daughters: Elizabeth hunt, Louisville, Patsy brewer, Pleasureville, Teresa McKee, Frankfort, Beverly Creasy and Roselynn Monhollen, both of Shelbyville; two sisters: Mary Dawson, Frankfort and Betty Grubbs, Texas; twenty grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Huston Ethington; one daughter, Mary Sue Ethington; one son, Jimmy Ethington; one brother, James Chisholm; two sisters, Rosa Hughes and Jessie Orihood; three grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17th at the Grub Ridge Church.  Rev. John Underwood, Pastor of the Rockbridge United Methodist Church, Shelbyville and Rev. Larry Rhodes, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Grub Ridge Cemetery.

Norman Ethington

 

            Norman D. Ethington, 80, of Shelbyville, formerly of Eminence, died Friday, September 7, 2007, at the Hospice Unit of Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Alvin W. and Daphne Kistner Ethington, a retired tobacco grader for USDA and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.

            He is survived by two sons: Steve Ethington, Owensboro and Alvin Ethington, Shelbyville; one brother: Elmo Ethington, Simpsonville; one sister: Inez Hochstrasser, Waddy; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by spouses, Margaret “Peggy” Miles Ethington and Dorothy Smith Ethington.

            Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11th at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Charles Evans, Infant

 

            Charles “Charlie” Bradley Evans, five days old, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Norton Suburban Hospital, Louisville.

            He is survived by his parents: Nathan and LeeAnne Bird Evans, LaGrange; grandparents: Lisa and Jerry Coots, Campbellsburg; Leo and Sue Bird Sr., Pewee Valley; and Brad and Tanya Evans, Smithfield; great-grandparents: Noredda Louden, Campbellsburg, Leo and June Bird, Sr., Prospect, Charles W. Evans, Pendleton, Gloria Broughton, R. L. and Emma Inghram.  He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather and great-grandmother.

            Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 1st at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Ed Life, Pastor of the Smithfield Baptist Church and Rev. Mike Huff, Pastor of the Providence Baptist Church, officiated.

Donna Feagan

 

            Donna Sue Feagan, 50, of Westport, died Friday, February 27, 2009, at her home.  She was a teacher at the Henry County Middle School.

            She is survived by her husband: Paul Feagan; daughter: Sara (James) Sipes; two brothers: Mike and Tony Jett; three sisters: Phyllis McIlvoy, Diane Escobedo and Pat Baker and three grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 3rd at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Nancy Burrows officiated.  Interment was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.

Fielding Ford

 

          Little Fielding Ford died January 13, 1912 at Harpers Ferry and was buried January 15th in the Grub Ridge Cemetery.  The cause of death was whooping cough and croup.  He was the son of Mrs. Mary T. and Oscar Ford, the latter having been killed a year ago by lightning at Hillsboro.  The age of the lovely little child was two years.  One brother is left to sorrow with the grief stricken mother.

Marietta Ford

 

            Marietta Truman Ford, 82, of Williamstown, formerly of Port Royal, died March 15, 2012, at Grant Manor in Williamstown.  She was the daughter of the late George Maurice and Margaret Jane Baker Truman.

            She is survived by one granddaughter: Krissy Schleuter, Dry Ridge and one grandson: Jeffrey Ford, Lexington.

            Funeral services were held at 4 :00 p.m. Sunday, March 18th, at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Her grandchildren officiated at the service.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.          

 

 

Vonda Fox

 

          Vonda Mae Fox, 49, of Bedford, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at King’s Daughters Hospital, Madison, IN.  She is survived by her husband: Glen A. Fox, Sr., Bedford; two sons: Danny D. (Rhonda) Eldridge, Sr. Shelbyville and Glen A. “Bubba” (Ashley) Fox, Jr., Smithfield; one daughter: Mildred D. (Will) Smith, Ghent; parents: Adolph and Alma Eldridge, LaGrange; one brother: Adolph Andy Eldridge, Jr., LaGrange; one sister: Mary Bea Eldridge, LaGrange, LaGrange and five grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31st, at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Dr. Thomas Wilkes officiated.  Interment was in the Bedford Cemetery.

Virginia Bowman Horstmann

 

          Virginia Bowman Horstmann, 83, of Eminence, died Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a native of Pittsburg, PA and the daughter of the late Walter and Virginia Pastorius Bowman.

            She is survived by one daughter: Suzanne (Douglas) Lawson, Eminence; two granddaughters: Suzannah Brown, LaGrange and Elizabeth (Bernard) Stewart, Pittsburg, PA; one grandson: James S. Rostek, Pittsburg, PA;  and two great-grandchildren: Hannah Brown, LaGrange and Lucas Niziol, Pittsburg, PA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Frank Horstmann and two sisters, Claire Blanche Bowman and Mary Irene Bowman.

            A memorial service was held at a later date.  Interment was in the Jefferson Memorial park, Pittsburg, PA.  Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Humphrey

 

          Mary Wade Lewis Humphrey, 86, of Eminence, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington after a long illness.  Daughter of the late Arch and Irene Bentley Wade, she was born in Beattyville.  She retired as the postmistress in Eminence, and was a member of the Eminence Christian Church.

            She is survived by two sons: John A. Lewis, O.D., Lexington and James B. Lewis, Simpsonville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alden M. Lewis, one sister, Mildred Geissler and two brothers, Jimmy and Doyle Wade.

            Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 16th, at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Percy Kephart

 

          Persy Kephart, 91, of New Castle, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at his home following a long illness.  A native of Pleasureville, he was the son of the late J. W. and Fannie Arnsparger Kephart.

            He was a life-long farmer and a member and former deacon of the New Castle Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Zola Kephart, New Castle; his daughter: Laine Kephart, Shelbyville; one sister: Zada Dowden, Pleasureville; five nieces and nephews: Joey Kephart, Pleasureville, Susan Wainscott, Louisville, Jimmie K. Dowden and Evelyn Hudson, both of Frankfort and David Carter, Cadiz, and one sister-in-law: Dorothy Carter, Frankfort.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Glenna Kephart, two brothers, Freeman Kephart and Matthew Kephart and two nephews, James L. “Jimmie” Kephart and Kenneth E. “Kenny” Carter, Jr.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26th, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Clayton Klingenfus officiated assisted by Rev. Tommy Lanham.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Mary Jane Lucas

 

            Mary Jane Lucas, 84, of Eminence, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012.  She was the daughter of the late James and Florence Stephens Deakins.

            She is survived by her husband: Charlie Lucas, Eminence; two daughters: Shere Reeder and Nancy Tipton, both of LaGrange; one son: Rick Davis, Crestwood; and one step-son: Jackie Lucas, Eminence.

            Funeral services were held at 11:oo a.m. Saturday, September 1st, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Floydsburg Cemetery, Crestwood.

William Mack, Jr.

 

William Barney “Billy” Mack, Jr., 73, of New Castle, died Thursday, December 26,2002 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was the son of the late William Barney and Margaret Kidwell Mack, Sr., a retired farmer, Southern States employee, Henry County Road Department employee and a member of Masonic Lodge #189 and the First Baptist Church, New Castle.

            He is survived by his wife: Vivian Stivers Mack, New Castle; one daughter: Bonnie Mack, New Castle; one son: William Barney Mack III, Cropper; one sister: Louise (John) Allgeier, Smithfield; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. David Charlton, Pastor of the New Castle First Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Sligo Cemetery.

Bobby Mahoney

 

            Bobby “Shiek” Mahoney, 73, of New Castle, died Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Robert C. and Hattie Roberts Mahoney.  He retired from GE, worked as a LaGrange police officer and formerly served as a Henry County Deputy Jailer.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean LaFollette Mahoney.

            He is survived by two sons: Dale Mahoney and Tony Mahoney, both of New Castle; a half-sister: Sherry Woosley, Louisville; a half-brother: Robert Mahoney, FL; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Mae Marshall

 

            Mae Drue Marshall, 75, of Warsaw, formerly of Henry County, died suddenly Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at her residence.  She was a native of Garrard County, the daughter of the late Walker and Nettie Grant Baker and a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church.

            She is survived by two sisters: Jessie Baker Stivers, Warsaw and Bette (Cecil) Peyton, New Castle.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Marshall.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 14th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Charles Edward Martin

 

            Charles Edward Martin, 62, of Radcliff, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at his home.

            He is survived by two sons: Charles E. Martin, Jr., Louisville and Thomas Vinson, California; two brothers: James Martin, Eminence and Donald Martin, Louisville; and one sister: Jean Hill, Atlanta, GA.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ki Ja Martin.

            Interment was at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26th, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff with military honors.

Patricia Eads Martin

 

            Patricia Eads Martin, 73, of Louisville, died Saturday, February 4, 2012.  She was a native of Frankfort and a retired foster parent.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert C. Martin, Sr.  She is survived by six sons: Hubert C. “Marty” Martin (Sharon), Matthew Spencer Martin (Petra), Mark Allen Martin (Rise), Michael E. Martin (Rhonda), Luke Martin (Amber) and Ernest “Ernie” Martin; thirteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Georgene Schneider and Billie Kay Fussinger (Jim) and one brother, Michael Eads (Linda).

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8th, at Ratterman and Sons, Louisville.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Margaret Mathis

 

            Margaret Jackson Mathis, 68, of LaGrange, died at 1:10 p.m. December 23, 1977 at the St. Anthony Hospital, Louisville after suffering a heart attack.  She was a native of Turners Station, the daughter of the late William and Laura Chilton Jackson.  Mrs. Mathis was a nurse at the Mallory-Taylor Hospital, LaGrange.  She was a member of the DeHaven Baptist Church in LaGrange.

            She is survived by three daughters: Ramona (Paul) Stewart, LaGrange, Wilda (James R.) Montgomery, LaGrange, and Wanda (William Scott) Boykin, Louisville; one son: William A. Mathis, LaGrange; nine grandchildren; two sisters: Ada (Randy) Madanian, Seminole, FL and Mildred (Carl) Stafford, Louisville.

            Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Adkins-Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. Douglas Olive, Pastor of the DeHaven Memorial Baptist Church, LaGrange, officiated.  Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery in Campbellsburg.

Naomi Mattick

 

            Naomi Clark Mattick, 89, of Campbellsburg, formerly of Sligo, died Sunday, December 22, 2002 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Pulaski Clark, a housewife and a member of the Campbellsburg Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two sons: Henry Mattick, Bedford and Frederick Mattick, North Springs, TN; one sister: Julia Cranfield, Campbellsburg; and one grandson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Mattick.

            Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 27th at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Carl Rucker, Rev. Earl Wayne Perry and Dr. David Cooper officiated.  Burial was in the Sligo Cemetery.

 

 

Roy May

 

Roy Todd may, 43, of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, May 28, 2011.

            He is survived by two sons: Keegan May and Kaden May, both of Milton; mother: Dorothy Hunter Bowman, New Castle; and father: Sid May and wife, Gayla, Carrollton.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31st, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Joe Kindoll, Pastor of the Cove Hill Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Bedford IOOF Cemetery.

Martin Mayse

 

          Martin Mayse, 84, of Eminence, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  Son of the late Johnny H. and Mima Horn Mayse, he retired from L&N as a railroad repairman.  He was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Thelma Mayse, Eminence; one daughter: Mary (Squeak) Metts-Payton, Eminence; one son: Tom Mayse, Eminence; two sisters: Bessie McKinney, Irvine and Sally Deaton, Ocala, FL; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Mayse, Jr., and Jessie and Willard Mayse.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.

Thomas Mayse

 

          Thomas “Tom” Mayse, 64, of Eminence, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.  He was the son of the late Martin Mayse.

            H is survived by his mother: Thelma “Marie” Mayse, Eminence; two daughters: Joy (Tim) Putnam, Rockton, IL and Cyndi Hoffman and fiancé, Allen Raynor, Brandon, MS; and one granddaughter: Meagan Hoffman.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Mayse Metts.

            Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 20th, at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.

Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.
