Elmer J. McAlister
Elmer J. McAlister, 84, of Pleasureville, died Friday, May 13, 2011, at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle. He was born in Henry County, the son of the late Minice Jones McAlister and Laura Arnold McAlister. Mr. McAlister was a master plumber and was retired from the Henry County Water District. He was a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church. He is survived by his son: Darrell (JoAnn) McAlister, Pleasureville; his daughter: Shelia (Ray) Swenson, Keller, TX; his brother: Minice McAlister, Jr., Smithfield; his sisters: Norma Jean Heightchew and Hazel Baxter, both of Pleasureville; his granddaughter: Heather McAlister, Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Gilbert McAlister and three brothers, Elzy, Rhonald and Russell McAlister. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville. Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Virginia Raisor McCardwell, 85, of New Castle, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Midway and was the daughter of the late Rowan and Mary Tharp Raisor. She was a homemaker and a member of the Providence Baptist Church. She is survived by one son: Michael T. (Phyllis) McCardwell, Shelby County; one daughter: Paula (Terry) Petree, Campbellsburg; one sister: Mildred Morrissey, San Jose, CA; three grandchildren: Katherine McCardwell, Sarah Petree and Mathew Petree; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean McCardwell. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville. Mr. Howard Lee Byers officiated. Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Albert lee McCarthy, Sr., 98, of Eminence, died Friday, July 1, 2011, at his residence. He was a retired school teacher. Albert was a WWII Army Veteran and an Air Medal, Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. He was the son of the late John William and Martha Ellen Pollard McCarthy. He is survived by three daughters: Mary Ellen (Leslie) Stayer, Sr., Middletown, Stacy (Andy) Mill, Goshen, and Lee Ann (Tom) Wilson, New Castle; four sons: Larry (Patricia) McCarthy, Shelbyville, Michael (Chickie) McCarthy, Troutman, NC, John McCarthy, New Castle and Albert Lee �Buck� McCarthy, Jr., Eminence; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Nellie McCarthy Purvis Adams and Lillie Mae McCarthy and two brothers: Paul and John William McCarthy. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Thomas �Tim� McClure, 54, died Saturday, May 10, 2008. A graduate of Trinity High School and the University of Kentucky, he was the State Forest health Specialist for the Kentucky Department of Forestry, served as the Horticulture Agent for Shelby County and was the owner /operator of Buck Creek Perennials. He was the son of the late Thomas G. and Carrie D. McClure. He is survived by his wife: Kricket McClure; one son: Colin McClure; two daughters: Caitlyn and Hannah McClure; and one sister: Theresa McClure. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 15th at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Interment was in the Resthaven Cemetery in Louisville.

June Mallory Redding McConnell, 87, of New Castle, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at her residence. She was a native of Owen County, formerly of Louisville, the daughter of the late Walker B. and Lucy Mildred Sherfy Redding and a member of the New Castle Christian Church. She is survived by three daughters: Kae Crenshaw, Owenton, Linda O�Dell, Cherokee, NC, and Elizabeth Sherfy Browning, Coal City, IL; three sons: Dr. Robert Redding McConnell, Raliegh, NC, Dr. William Thomas McConnell, III, Harrison, OH, and Dr. William Holmes McConnell, Wichita, KS; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. McConnell, Jr. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 14th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Dr. Clayton Klingenfus, Pastor of the Cascade Michigan Christian Church, Grand Rapids, MI, officiated. Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.

Conley McGuire, 85, of Campbellsburg, died Monday, March 10, 2008 in LaGrange. Son of the late Johnnie and Pearl Richardson McGuire, he was a member of the First Christian Church, Tarpon Springs, FL and attended the Campbellsburg Baptist Church. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He is survived by one daughter: Robbie (Terry) James, Sulphur; three sons: David (Phyllis McGuire, Campbellsburg, Gordon (Priscilla) McGuire, Nashville, TN and Randy (Christy) McGuire, Chandler, IN; one sister: Nancy McConkey, Champagne, IL; one brother: Tricky McGuire, Beattyville; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maurine F. McGuire, two sisters, Loraine and Georgia and two brothers, Eddie and Burton. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Nick Coleman officiated. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Sally D. McGuire, 71, of Eminence, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange. She was the daughter of the late Robert Taylor and Maggie Rucker McGuire. She was survived by several nieces and nephews. Cremation was chosen and memorial services will be held at a later date. Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of Arrangements.

Ralph Beckley Morgan, 76, of Fort Gay, WVA, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Imogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WVA. He was born May 22, 1936, in Sligo, the son of the late Gurney Lee and Ola Belle Estes Morgan. He was a controller and CFO for the Casey County Hospital and June Todd Crawford Hospital. Ralph was a member of the Louisa Church of God. He is survived by his wife: Paige Hutchinson Morgan, Fort Gay, WVA; one daughter: Jessica Morgan, Fort Gay, WVA; two sons: Brian Morgan and Patrick Morgan, both of Fort Gay, WVA; four grandchildren; two brothers: Billy Morgan, Pendleton and Clyde Morgan, Pleasureville. Funeral services were held Friday, August 3rd at Young Funeral Home Chapel in Louisa. Rev. Paul Stepp officiated. Interment was in the Morgan Family Cemetery, Fort Gay, WVA.

Drexell Sharp, 69, of Turners Station, died Monday, February 16, 2009 at his residence. He was the son of the late Henry and Ruby Holmes Sharp. He is survived by his wife: Deloris Jean McAllister Sharp, Turners Station; two daughters: Robin Boyle and companion, Sean Cobb, Carrollton and Jennifer Foree (Kevin), Turners Station; two sons: Troy Sharp, Bedford and David Sharp (Rita), Port Royal; two sisters: Elizabeth Wright, Turners Station and Wanda Mahoney, Toledo, OH; two brothers: Lesley Sharp, Sun Ray, TX and Phillip Sharp; sixteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Bill Sharp and Loni Sharp, two sisters: Leola Hogam and Viola �Ginny� Peyton. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 20th, at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg. Rev. Bobby Wade officiated. Interment was in the Turners Station Cemetery.

Sharp, Anchorage, Alice Ferguson (Thomas) and Erma McAllister (Mike) all of Eminence; one brother: Charles R. Waldridge, Richmond, VA; thirteen grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons Thomas Butch Sharp and Elmer A. She is survived by two daughters: Betty Eddins (Ronnie) Campbellsburg and Barbara Jones (Bobby), Pleasureville; four sons: Glenn Sharp, New Castle, Allie Sharp, Jr. (Shirley), LaGrange, Vernon Sharp (Carolyn) and Jerry Sharp (Betty), all of Lockport; daughter-in-law: Laverne Sharp, Lockport; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Allie Sharp, Sr., son: Jackie Sharp; two granddaughters: Susan Denise Sharp and Peggy Sue Lindsay; grandson: Gregory A. Sharp, Sr.; and great-grandson: John Sharp. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23rd, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Bro. He was the son of the late Lennie and Rose Baldwin Shaw, a member of the New Castle First Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Eminence Odd Fellow Lodge and a farmer. He is survived by his wife: Thelma R. Shaw, Eminence; two daughters: Terina Bryant, Eminence and Anita Roberson, Defoe; one son: Neil Lentini, Bethlehem; two step-sons: Tony Kurtz, Eminence and Greg Kurtz, Ft. Worth, TX; one brother: E. B. Shaw, Elmburg; seven grandchildren and three nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Donnie Lee Shaw, Jr. and granddaughter, Loren Beth Edwards. Rebecca Brent Shell, 93, of Campbellsburg, died Thursday, January 15, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Oveta Adkins and Edward Walker Brent. She attended the Cincinnati Business School for Women and was the administrator of the Henry County Clinic in Eminence for 24 years. She was a member of the Huguenot Society, the Campbellsburg Homemakers and the Campbellsburg United Methodist Church and the DAR. She is survived by two daughters: Eileen Shell Hepp, Bowling Green and Carolyn Shell Wiltse, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh David Shell, one sister, Kathryn Brent Dunaway and one brother, Edward Sterling Brent. Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19th at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
