Candice Easley Bailey, 60, of Anchorage, Alaska, formerly of Louisville, died Monday, February 7, 2011.

She is survived by her father: Thomas Easley and step-mother Lillian Moody Easley, Pleasureville; one son: Thomas Nall and wife Tara, Port Townsend, WA; one daughter: Pamela Carl and husband Robert, Anchorage, Alaska; three grandchildren, two aunts and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother: Frances Easley, and her brother: Thomas Easley, II.

Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville was in charge of arrangements.

Kathleen Baker

Kathleen Perry baker, 85, of Henry County, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in Carroll County.

She is survived by four children: Dalton E. Willett, Madison, IN, Betty F. Brown and Janice C. Doll, both of Turners Station, and Saundra L. Plew, Worthville; and one step-daughter: Sis Stanley, Louisville.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 26th, at Ransdell Funeral Home in Campbellsburg. Rev. Earl Wayne Perry officiated. Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Lena Margaret Baker

Lena Margaret Baker, 82, of Pleasureville, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at her residence. She was born in Defoe, the daughter of the late Jim and Leva Johnson Bramlette. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband: James T. Baker, Pleasureville; one son: James Alan Baker (Teresa), Eminence; one brother: Victor T. Bramlette (Patsy), Pleasureville; one grandchild; two step-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 26th, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

JoAnn Barnes

JoAnn Barnes, 58, of Eminence, died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Betty Jo Summit Barnes.

She is survived by two sons: Alvin Barnes, Eminence and James Hoskins, Campbellsburg; three stepsons: Floyd Hoskins, London, Chico and Amos Hoskins, both of Campbellsburg; one daughter: Ethel Ann Hoskins, Eminence; two stepdaughters: Essie Hoskins, Campbellsville and Lynn Jernigan, Hodgenville.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 10th, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Frank Batts

Frank Batts, 86, of New Castle, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle. He was the son of the late Lamar Batts and Rose Batts Moore. He was a WWII Navy veteran as well as a U.S. Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife: Louise Batts, New Castle; three daughters: Debbie Huttelmayer, Jeffersonville, IN, Deborah Ertel, Sweymour, IN, and Loraine Sams, Louisville; four sons: Frank R. Batts and Larry Batts, both of North Vernon Indiana, Bernard Baker and John Baker, both of New Castle. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 10th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Harvey, Pastor of the Eminence Crossroads Lighthouse Church, officiated. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Gordon Bramlet

Gordon O. Bramlet, 71, of Eminence, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at his residence. He was the son of the late Charles and Violet Connet Bramlet.

He is survived by his wife: Billie Louise Coleman Bramlet, Eminence; and two daughters: Bethany Humphrey, Forsythe, MO and Alicia Polsgrove, Bookshire, TX.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21st, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Larry Jent, Fisherville, VA. Interment was in the Louisville Memorial Garends.

James Clayton Barnsfather

James Clayton Barnsfather, 83, of Pleasureville, died Friday, April 29, 2011, at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville. He was the son of the late James Stinson and Rena Bush Barnsfather. He was a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Sue Barnsfather, Pleasureville; a daughter-in-law: Vickie Barnsfather, Pleasureville; two sisters: Zelma Barnsfather, New Castle and Willena Coombs, Smithfield; two grandchildren: Shane Barnsfather (dee) and Lynda Latherm (David); three great-grandchildren: Dustin and Nicolas Barnsfather and Serenity Latherm; and one nephew: Frankie Coombs. He was preceded in death by one son, Mike Barnsfather and one brother, Raymond Barnsfather.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville was in charge of arrangements.

Zachary C. Barrickman, 87, died Friday at his home near Sulphur.

He is survived by his wife: Nettie Barrickman; one daughter: Mrs. James Campbell, Sulphur; one son: Raymond Barrickman, Sulphur; one brother: R. L. Barrickman, Detroit, MI.

Funeral services were conducted at the Bedford Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m., Monday, with Rev. Francisco officiating. Burial was in the Bedford I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Jean Batts

Jean Mahoney Batts, 79, of New Castle, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Baptist Northeast in LaGrange. Daughter of the late Orlester and Mary Margaret Purvis Mahoney, jean was a homemaker and a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband: Price Batts, New Castle; daughter: Terry Heffley and husband, Steve, Eminence; granddaughter: Lori Seekford and husband, Bruce, Georgetown; and great-grandson: Wyatt Seekford.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May30th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Ada Berry

Ada Berry, 89, of New Castle, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in Louisville. She was a retired secretary for Farm Bureau. Ada was a member of the New Castle Christian Church and was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Berry.

She is survived by one son: William C. Berry, Louisville; two daughters: Ann Fink, Nebraska and Dottie McManis, Texas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 25th at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Bro. Tommy Lanham, Pastor of the New Castle Christian Church, officiated. Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

John Blackaby

On the night of September 22, 1921, Mr. John Blackaby, who lived near this place passed into the eternal beyond, aged 84 years. Burial was in the Grub Ridge Cemetery on September 23rd. He was born and reared in Henry County, and was the last of his family, his wife having died about sixteen months ago.

He leaves three brothers: Thomas, of Eminence, J. R. of near Cemetery Hill and R. R., of Shelby County; and two sisters: Mrs. Evan Land, of near New Castle, and Mrs. George Frost, of Moreland, Ky.

Pam Brewer

Pam Frazier Brewer, 57, of Carrollton, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late William Bailey and Anna Frances Mahoney Frazier. Pam formerly worked at the Carriage House.

She is survived by her companion: Bruce Troxell, Carrollton; one daughter: Leanna Young (Michael), Bardstown; one son: Paul Douglas Brewer, Jr., Port Royal; three brothers: Roy Frazier (Patsy), Leitchfield, Jadie Frazier, New Castle, and Mike Frazier (Carol), Carrollton and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11:30 A.m., Monday, March 14th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Phyllis Ann Brewer

Phyllis Ann Louden Brewer, 65, of Eminence, died Friday, March 18, 2011, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. Daughter of Len Allen and Margaret Cox Louden, she was a supervisor at Revere Foil in Shelbyville, as well as an Avon representative for over 30 years. She was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.

She is survived by one sister: Edith Dale Bruner and husband, Richard, Christiansburg; two brothers: Jerry Louden and wife, Mabel, New Castle; Sid Louden, Springfield, TN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie “Butch” Brewer and one sister, Ada Fink.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March w1st, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.
Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Gary Brightwell, 56, of Smithfield, died Saturday, April 23, 2011.

He is survived by his wife: Vicky Brightwell; two daughters: Tammy Morrison (Anthony) and Tiffany Nation (Scott); a granddaughter: Autumn Rayne; three sisters: Carolyn, Laura, and Linda; and two brothers: Eddie and Jimmy.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 29th, at the Oldham County Funeral Home, LaGrange. Interment was in the Floydsburg Cemetery.

Nena Brown

Nena Wyatt Brown, 89, of Eminence, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.

She is survived by three daughters: Anna Harris, Eminence, Thelma Roberts and Bonnie Hayden, both of Louisville; and one son: Billy Hayden, Eminence.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon Thursday, April 14th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.

Harold Bryant

Harold Thomas Bryant, 71, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville. He was the son of the late George Thomas and Nancy Louise Hedges Bryant.

He is survived by his wife: Judith Ann Grant Bryant, Shelbyville; one son: Michael Thomas Bryant, Shelbyville; and one daughter: Veronique Ann Armes, Shelbyville.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Rev. James Maroney officiated. Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Donald Buchanan

Donald Buchanan, 50, of Louisville, died Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was vice president at Pattco Inc. Prior to Pattco, he was with Ramsey Quantitative Systems, Inc., and Citizens Fidelity Bank. Don was an active member of the Southeast Christian Church and the Harmony Landing Country Club.

Born in Barbourville to Donald and Elizabeth Buchanan, Don grew up on a farm near Pleasureville and attended Henry County High School. In 1983 he graduated from Centre and later earned an MBA from Harvard.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Karen Kurfees Buchanan; his children: Donald Colby and Clair Elizabeth; parents: Donald Beams and Elizabeth Davies Buchanan and his grandmother: Elizabeth Ragsdale Davies.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m./, Monday, May 30th, at the Buchanan farm. A private burial followed at Cave Hill Cemetery.

Forrest “Frosty” Burch

Forrest “Frosty” Burch, 87, of Port Royal, died Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle. Son of the late Henry and Bertha Sanders Burch, he was a farmer and a member of the Port Royal Baptist Church. Frosty was involved with the IOOF Eminence Lodge No. 140 for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his niece: Bertha Chadwell, New Castle; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife” Corine Heitzman Burch; two sisters: Katherine Batts and Trula Mae Ethington and one brother: Johnny Burch.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23rd at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Gilbert Burke

Gilbert H. Burke, 73, of Pleasureville, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born in Hatton, the son of the late John Gilbert and Iva Minnish Edington Burke. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran, a farmer and a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia Mobley Burke, Pleasureville; two sons: Darrell Burke and Joe Burke, both of Pleasureville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Burke.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15th, at the Pleasureville Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery. Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville, was in charge of arrangements.

Frieda Burton

Frieda Bright Burton, 79, of Madison, IN, died Saturday January 29, 2011, at Crestview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shelbyville. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Isla Selig Bright.

She is survived by three daughters: Annette Chisholm, Eminence, Mary Jean Burton, Hanover, IN, and Janice Burton, Madison, IN; and two sons: James Edward Burton and Melvin Douglas “Doug” Burton, both of Madison, IN.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 1st, at Morgan and Nay Funeral Center, Madison, IN. Pastor Judy Howard Statler officiated. Interment was in Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison, IN.

Buford Alexander Bailey, 87, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011. He was the son of the late Alexander and Mary Hardin Bailey.

He is survived by three daughters: Teresa Bailey Hall, Janey Lucas and Claudia Ann Popplewell and one son: Barry A. Bailey.

Barbara Barton

Barbara J. Barton, 72, of Franklinton, died Monday, September 5, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. Barbara was a member of the Franklinton Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth L. Barton. She is survived by her mother: Corinne Roberts Barton, Franklinton; two sisters: Carole Sue Truman and husband, Wendell, Bethlehem and Lynda Lyle Wilson and husband, Travis, Turners Station; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 8th, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Jacky Newton, Pastor of the Franklinton Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Mildred Batts

Mildred Humston Batts, 84, of Eminence, died Friday, April 9, 1993, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville. She was formerly of Port Royal and a member of the Port Royal Baptist Church.

She survived by one daughter: Helen Batts Roberts, Eminence; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: T. J. Batts; one daughter: Patsy harp; and two sons: Ed and Billy Batts.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 11th, at the Prewitt Funeral Home, Eminence. Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.

Marie Clackey Beetum, 87, died at 3:01 a.m., April 5, 1974, at Milburn, Kentucky.

She is survived by six daughters: Mrs. Jeanett McAllister and Mrs. Virginia Haley, Fort Mitchell, Mrs. Marjorie Dooley, Campbellsburg, Mrs. Dorothy Sutton, Covington, Mrs. Elizabeth Skelding, Cincinnati and Mrs. Georgia Tumerink, Carrollton; three sons: Tom Beetum, St. Petersburg, FL, Ed Beetum, Florence and Ray Beetum, Milburn; twenty grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Dunn-Graham Funeral Home, Carrollton conducted by Barnett Funeral Home with Rev. Lindsay officiating. Burial was in the Turners Station Cemetery.

Annabelle Roberts Beverly

Annabelle Roberts Beverly, 68, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Annabelle was born in Lockport, the daughter of Jesse and Lena Newby Roberts. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lockport Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband: Hillis Beverly, Bethlehem; her son: Mark Beverly (Doris), Pleasureville; two brothers: Harry Lee Roberts and Russell Roberts, both of Louisville; three sisters: Doris Dawson, Owen County, Mary Minch, Shelbyville, and Billy Joe Williams, Fort Worth, TX; two grandchildren: Robert Beverly and Clay Beverly. She was preceded in death by one son: Glenn Beverly.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2011, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville. Rev. Leon Robinson officiated. Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Hazel Bright

Mary Hazel Miller Bright, 69, of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, September 23, 1992, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. She was a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church and a retired bookkeeper for Browning Pontiac.

Survivors are three sons: Taylor Bright, Sr., New Castle, David Bright, Campbellsburg and Mike Bright, Pleasureville; one daughter: Becky Bright Smith, Campbellsburg; three brothers: Roy and Roger Miller, both of Florida, and Charles Miller, Louisville; three sisters: Ann Moffett, Shelbyville, Peggy Vargas, California, and Patsy Howser, Erlanger; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one uncle; several aunts, nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25th, at Sholar-Thomas Funeral Home, Pleasureville. Rev. Marshall Phillips and Rev. Ed Parker officiated. Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Kevin brown, 54, of Port Royal, died Monday, October 17, 2011.

Kenneth A. Bryant, 37, of Eminence, died suddenly Thursday, September 24, 1992, at Tri-County Community Hospital, LaGrange. He was an employee of Fischer Packing Company, Louisville, and a member of the First Baptist Church, Eminence.

He is survived by his mother: Mrs. Anna Robinson Moore, Eminence; his stepfather: Warren Moore, Eminence; five sisters: Jane Bryant, Cincinnati, OH, Renee Bryant, Louisville, Jackie Bryant, Lexington, Karen Marshall, Eminence, and Judy Moore, Eminence; three brothers: Terrence Bryant, Louisville, LCPL Jeffrey Moore, Okinawa, Japan, and Joseph Moore, Eminence; his grandmother: Eliza Hoskins, Louisville, and several nieces and nephews

Flossie Burge

Flossie Mae Burge, 80, died Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville. She was the daughter of the late George Franklin and Ethel Eden Cook.

She is survived by her son, Garnett “Butch” Burge, Bagdad.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 15th, at Beech Ridge Baptist Church. Rev. Chuck Omholtz officiated. Interment was in the Bagdad Cemetery. B Hall-Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Paul Burrows

Paul Andrew Burrows, 87, of Pendleton, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011, in LaGrange. He was the son of the late Lottie and Jesse “Snooks” Burrows. He was also a WWII Veteran having received the Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife: Gwendolyn Marie Gividen Burrows; a son: Paul Scott Burrows, Sligo; two daughters: Shelia Burrows Crutch, Ohio and Susan Burrows Brady, LaGrange.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19th at the Sligo Baptist Church.
Rev. Earl Wayne Perry officiated. Interment was in the Sligo Cemetery.
