Betty Linda James

Betty Linda James, 73, of Frankfort, died Sunday, February 13, 2011, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Linnie Collett Scriber and Beckham Gordon.

She is survived by her husband: Darrell James, Frankfort; and one daughter: Jackye Allnutt Sawyer, Frankfort.

Cremation was chosen. A time of remembrance will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. February 21st at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.

Lewis Jennings

Lewis Edward Jennings, 24, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, March 3, 2011.

He is survived by his father: Jimmy Jennings, Bethlehem and his son: Travis Bohannon, Shelbyville.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 6th at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Mike Huff officiated. Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

James Jacobs

James Lee Jacobs, 38, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011, as the result of an automobile accident.

He is survived by his mother: Ellen Louise Moore, Eminence; his father: Danny Jacobs and his step-mother: Kim, Prospect; and his step-father: Michael Wayne Lefler, Pleasureville.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15th, at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville. The rev. Jesse Baxter officiated. Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

John Jamison

John Cleveland Jamison, 95, of Taylorsville, died Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Signature Healthcare in Taylorsville. He was the son of the late Matthew and Sally Jamison.

He is survived by three sons: Donald Jamison, Mt. Eden, Bobby Jamison, Shelbyville and Frank Jamison, Taylorsville; one daughter: Stella Hubbard, Brentwood, TN.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7th at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Rev. Bill Brumley officiated. Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Norman L. Jenkins

Norman L. Jenkins, 73, of New Castle, died Saturday, September 3, 2011, at his residence. Norman was CEO, President and co-owner of Louisville Tin and Stove Company. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. Norman has won sporting clays and state trap championships and has shot in National events. He was the son of the late William Woodrow and Gladys Elizabeth Louden Jenkins.He is survived by two daughters: Janet Cox and husband, Rob, Port Royal and Leslea Jenkins, New Castle; dear friend: Martha Morgan, Eminence; three grandchildren: Jessica Young and husband, Chris, New Castle, Caitlyn Cox, Muskegon, MI, and Tyler Cox, Port Royal; and three great-grandchildren: Claire, Elizabeth and Olivia Young. He was preceded in death by his wife: Barbara Ann Purvis Jenkins.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 5th, at prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Dr. David Charlton, Pastor of the Shelbyville Christian Church, officiated. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Lyndon B. Johnson

Lyndon B. Johnson, 48, of Pendleton, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at his residence after a short battle with cancer. He was a Henry County football coach and a realtor, broker and owner of KY Homes & Farms Realty. Lyndon was in the Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by his father: Calvin Johnson.

He is survived by his wife: Chelan Stratton Johnson, Pendleton, formerly of Lexington; one daughter: Jessica Johnson Wilkerson (Michael), New Castle; four sons: Jonathan Brett Johnson (Bryley Stevens), Conner Grant Johnson, Erick Butler and Christopher Price, all of Pendleton; one sister: Belynda Threet, New Castle; two brothers: Mark Johnson (Marya), New Castle and Harold Crawford (Debbie), Milton; two granddaughters: Sara Elizabeth and Rebecca Lynn Wilkerson; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 2nd, at the Henry County High School Field House. Dr. David Charlton, Pastor of the First Christian Church, Shelbyville, officiated. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Bob Jones

Bob Jones, 69, of Smithfield, died Friday, October 7, 2011, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. He was the son of the late David Edward and Phoebe Ellen Massey Jones. He was a Vietnam-era U. S. Army veteran and retired as a mechanic from the Naval Ordinance after 36 years of service.

He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Jones, Smithfield; and four sons: Claude Allen Jones, Louisville, Louis Jones, Lexington, Joe Jones, Sulphur and Steve Jones, Eminence.

Cremation was chosen. A private burial will be held later. Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Evelyn Douthitt Kavanaugh

Dorothy Evelyn Douthitt Kavanaugh, 93, of Stone Ridge, VA, died Monday, October 31, 2011, at her home after a long struggle with heart disease. Born in Gest on October 16, 1918, she was a housewife, farmer and cook at the Pleasureville Elementary School and the Henry County Middle School, where she was also cafeteria manager. She was a member of the Gest United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late William Porter Douthitt, Sr. and Nannie Belle Chisholm Douthitt Kelley.

She is survived by her daughter: Gwendolyn Jinel Oller Hess and husband Gregory, Stone Ridge, VA; three grandchildren: Lawrence Bombay, Sterling, VA, Amanda Bombay, Okemos, MI, and Zachary Bombay, Stone Ridge, VA; three great grandchildren: Christopher, Isabelle and Annalise; her brother: William Porter Douthitt, Jr., Frankfort; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters: Nellie Kathleen Douthitt, Mildred Douthitt Jeffries, Geneva Gail Kelley Glenn, and Betty Louise Kelley Hammond and her husband: Robert Morris Kavanaugh.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 4th at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Virginia. Interment was in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, Virginia.

Glynn W. Kelley

Glynn W. Kelley, 80, of North Fort Myers, FL (a native of Henry County and a former resident of Louisville), died Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at his residence. Son of the late Roy and Mattie Heightchew Kelley, he was a U>S> Air Force Veteran. Glynn retired from Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance after more than 30 years of service, and then retired from Walmart. He was a member of the Sligo Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Rosalyn Roberts Kelley, North Fort Myers, FL; three daughters: Teresa K. Williams and husband, Richard, Erie, PA, Glenda L. Wagner and husband, Jon, Louisville, and Becky K. Jones and husband, Brian, Owensboro; one sister: Martha Payne, Bethlehem; six grandchildren: Jarred Williams, Ashley Romines, Aaron Wagner, Makenzie Jones, Evan Wagner and Haley Jones. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Alene McCowan and Dorothy Booth.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21st, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Nick Coleman, Sulphur, officiated. Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Ellie Kincaid

Ellie Mitchell Kincaid, 88, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville. She was the daughter of the late Robert Herman and Mary Lacie Allen Mitchell.

She is survived by her sons: Stanley Kincaid III and Coleman Kincaid, both of Frankfort, David Kincaid, Flemingsburg and Robert Kincaid, Shelbyville; her daughters: Elaine Anderson, Bardstown, Martha Shouse, Pleasureville, Rosemary Wilborn, Louisville, and Ruth Brooks, Marilyn Lorraine Marsee, Janice Sanders, Cecilia Gray, Alice Breeden and Kathleen Combs, all of Shelbyville.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 12th, at the Crossroads Lighthouse Church of Eminence. Rev. Paul Harvey and Rev. Ted Shouse officiated. Interment was in the Bagdad Cemetery.
