Sylvester Roberts

 

          Sylvester “Syl” Roberts, 86, of Eminence, died Friday, August 27, 2004 at Mt. Holly Nursing Facility in Louisville.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran, a member of the Eminence First Baptist Church, and the son of the late Raymond and Clara Hall Roberts.

            He is survived by one daughter: Geraldean Pearce; two sons: Steven Roberts, Russell and Jerry Roberts, Eminence; two sisters: Catherine Halloway and Thelma Reed, both of Louisville; a companion: Elizabeth bailey, Eminence; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 30 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Charles Duncan of the First Baptist Church officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Nick Scruggs

 

          Nick Scruggs, 73, of Eminence, died Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at his sister’s residence in Louisville.  He was the son of the late Everett Victor and Stella Mae Rucker Scruggs, a U. S. Marine Corps Veteran, a retired truck driver for Nationwide, a Mason and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

            He is survived by a brother: Jerry Scruggs, Custer; two sisters: Barbara Robinson, Shelbyville and Judy Scruggs, Louisville; and two step-daughters: Cindy Justice, Michigan and Linda Scruggs, Frankfort.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 10 at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Don Waterfill officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery.

Grace Seeders

 

          Grace Lee Payton Seeders, 74, of Pleasureville, died Thursday, June 20, 2002 at the Beverly Health and Rehab, Frankfort.  She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Leona Speed Payton, taught school at Defoe, was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church.

            She is survived by one daughter: Judy Harper Gross, Frankfort; one sister: Joyce May, Pleasureville; one grandson; five nieces and one nephew.  She was preceded in death by her husband, F. H. Seeders.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Defoe Cemetery.

Eurith Black Self

 

          Eurith Black Self, 83, of Saint Matthews, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville.  Born on February 28, 1929, in Henry County, she was the daughter of the later George Morris and Rosa Bell Webb Black.  She was a member of the Eminence United Methodist Church and a retired employee of the Jefferson County Board of Education, having served as a lunchroom manager.

            In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ila Sheffield, Josephine O’Nan and Jewell Gill.

            Survivors include her son: Roy “Tony” (Sandi) Self; her daughter: Sonja Dineene Bradley, all of Louisville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 14 at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Don Waterfill officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Ida Self

 

          Ida M. Self, 72, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Campbellsburg, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Clayton and Effie Humes, a waitress at the Greyhound Bus Station in Louisville and a homemaker.

            She is survived by a son: Donald Self, Campbellsburg; a daughter: Tenia Self, Bedford and four grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Carl Rucker officiated.  Burial was in the Resthaven Cemetery.

Daisy Sewell

 

          Daisy Lee Kennedy Sewell, 85, of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Betty Newman Kennedy, a homemaker, a retired music teacher at Pleasureville High School, taught private piano lessons and was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she played the piano for many years.

            She is survived by one son: Philip H. Sewell, Bethlehem; one sister: Annetta Wallace, Bedford; one grandson; one granddaughter and a great-grandson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Sewell.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16 at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church.  Rev. Larry Gardner officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Shirley Sharp

 

          Shirley jean Ritter Sharp, 75, of LaGrange, formerly of Henry County, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  Daughter of the late Lonnie Lyon and Edna Mae Ruble Ritter, she retired after 27 years of service in administration for the Department of Corrections.

            She is survived by her husband: Allie Sharp, Jr., LaGrange; three daughters: Regina Whitworth Rose, Shelbyville, Lisa Gail Whitworth, Louisville and Donna Whitworth Reents, Pewee Valley; step-daughter: Sharon Sharp, Clearwater, FL; step-son: Todd Sharp, Campbellsburg; two sisters: Connie Ethridge, Shepherdsville and Glenda Ritter, LaGrange; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 2 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.

Kenneth Shelton

 

          Kenneth Shelton, 93, of New Castle, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Hospice Center in LaGrange.  Son of the late Mike and Pauline McCarty Shelton, he was a U. S. Government Tobacco Grader.  He was a partner in the Shelton-Tennill Insurance Agency, a long-time active member of the New Castle Baptist Church and a charter member of the New Castle Lion’s Club.

            He is survived by two daughters: Peggy (Cecil) McCarty, New Castle and Charlotte (Gene) Blaydes, Lexington; a brother: Meredith “Mert” Shelton, New Castle; three grandchildren; and a cousin.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Powell Shelton; a brother, Marvin “Shorty” Shelton; a sister, Louise McVickers and a grandson, Scott McCarty.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 9 at the New Castle First Baptist Church.  Dr. David Charlton, Pastor, officiated, assisted by Lin Powell.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Marvin R. Shelton

 

          Marvin R. “Shortly” Shelton, 86, of New Castle, died Saturday, December 4, 2004.  He was a farmer and a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church., son of the late Oda Mike Shelton and Pauline McCarty Shelton.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Black Shelton; two sons: Marvin Goodwin Shelton and Robert Dean Shelton and his great grandson: Tanner Goodwin Shelton.

            He is survived by his daughter: Paula (Roger) Miller, Middletown; two brothers: Kenneth Shelton, New Castle and Meredith “Mert” Shelton, Pleasureville; a daughter-in-law: Nancy Jo Shelton Wallace, Georgetown; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 8 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Charlie Highfield, Campbellsburg, assisted by Rev. Nick Coleman, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Virginia Shelton

 

          Virginia Goodwin Black Shelton, 83, of New Castle, died Saturday, October 20, 2001 at Suburban Hospital, Louisville.  She was a native of Shelby County, the daughter of the late Oscar and Audrey Cook Black, a former nurse’s aide, a former state employee and a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church.

            She is survived by her husband: Marvin R. “Shorty” Shelton, New Castle; one daughter: Paula (Roger) Miller, Middletown; one sister: Janette Stivers: Shelbyville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sons: Marvin Goodwin and Robert Dean Shelton and one great-grandson.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Charlie Highfield, Campbellsburg, officiated, assisted by Rev. Rachele Snellgrove, Pastor of the point Pleasant Christian Church.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Gladys Shepherd

 

          Gladys Shepherd, 104, of Frankfort, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004.  She was a native of Robertson County, daughter of the late Isaac Thomas and Lula Kate Stoker Shepherd, a retired teacher with the Deming School, and a member of the Piqua United Methodist Church.

            She is survived by one sister: Carrie Brumagen, Pleasureville, one niece, one great-nephew and two cousins.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13 at the Piqua United Methodist Church.  Rev. David Laycock, Douglas Wright and Dr. James Shepherd officiated.  Burial was in the Piqua Church Cemetery.

Lula Pearl Lancaster Sholar

 

          Lula Pearl Lancaster Sholar, 89, of Cadiz, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Johnnie Jefferson and Albirtia Lancaster, a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

            She is survived by three sons: Robert C. Sholar, Virginia Beach, VA, Richard E. Sholar, Cadiz and Clyde D. (Brenda) Sholar, Pleasureville; four daughters: Pearl Allen, Mary Foster and Linda Rose Sholar, all of Cadiz and Brenda Sue Lancaster, Clarksville, TN; one brother: eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 30 at Goodwin Funeral Home, Cadiz.  Burial was in the Green Hill Memorial Gardens, Hopkinsville.

Don Short

 

          Don Branson Short, 41, of Louisville, died Monday, February 14, 2005 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville.  He was a carpenter and construction foreman.

            He is survived by his parents: William L. and Betty L. Branson Short, Shelbyville; two brothers: William Stephen Short, Naples, FL and Mark David Short, Port Royal; companion: Penny Parrish, Campbellsburg and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Carl Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Clearthur Shouse

 

          Clearthur “Jive Man” Shouse, 64, of Louisville, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 after an illness.  He was a native of Shelby County and the son of the late Mary Eliza Harris and Jesse Shouse, Sr.  He was a bricklayer for Oscar Hays, Crestwood and a member of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.

            He is survived by three daughters: Rev. Tine H. Findlwey and Stephanie Smith, both of Louisville and Valeria R. Shouse, Bardstown; six sons: Rev. Lonnie Hardin, sr., New Castle, Maurice T. Hardin, Jeffersonville, IN, Bryain D. Hardin, Tao Parker and Michael Allen, all of Louisville and Sidney C. Shouse, Bardstown; four sisters: Clara Lee Wilson and Ole Bell Marshall, both of Shelbyville, Mary Johnson, Bagdad and Willie Mae Shouse, Louisville; two brothers: John W. Shouse, Taylorsville and Leo “Pete” Shouse, Shelbyville; companion: Ann Johnson, Louisville; twenty-one grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19 at Webb Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Ben Williams officiated.  Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Shelbyville.

David Shuck

 

          David R. Shuck, 46, of Pleasureville, died Monday, July 15, 2002 at his residence after an illness.  He was the son of the late Richard and Shirley Joy Sutton Shuck and a self-employed painter.

            He is survived by five sisters: Linda (Victor) Fallis, Pleasureville, Brenda (Gary) Prather, Henryville, IN, Jane (Rocky) Williams,  and Jill (Neil) Darnall both of Charlestown, IN and Lisa (Benny) Coomes, Smithfield; one brother: Jack Shuck, Campbellsburg; seven nieces and seven nephews.

            Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 17 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Doug Boyd, Pastor of the Providence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Earl Shuck

 

          Earl Wayne Shuck, 40, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, August 29, 2004 at his residence.  He was the owner/operator of Shuck Fence Company and attended Southeast Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Robin Way Shuck; one son: Joshua Shuck; two daughters: Jessica and Amanda Shuck, all of Shelbyville; his parents: Earl B. and Glenna Gaines Shuck, Pleasureville; two brothers: Allen Shuck, Pleasureville and Steve Shuck, Lexington; two sisters: Diana Eldridge, Louisville and Loretta Stevens, Shelbyville.

            Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31 at Shannon Funeral Home.  Bro. Kenneth Shouse, Dr. Don Stevens and Kent Colgate officiated.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Eva Shuck

 

          Eva Adams Shuck, 75, of Pleasureville, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Laurel Sutton Adams, a farmer, and a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Valeria (Tony) Moffett, New Castle and Melodye (Richard) Steele, Campbellsburg; two sons: John C. Shuck, Jr., Pleasureville and Larry G. Shuck., Louisville; two sisters: Jean Yount, Pleasureville and Joan Peak, Jeffersontown; one brother: Lowell T. Adams, Pleasureville; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Shuck, one son, Timothy Lee Shuck, two sisters and two brothers.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Joe Shuck

 

          Joe Shuck, 70, of Pendleton, died Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Jesse and Mabbel Robertson Shuck, retired from Ford Motor Company and a member of the Bedford Springs Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Delores Shuck, Pendleton; three sons: Joe Shuck, Bedford, Greg Shuck, Gallatin, TN and Eric Shuck, Milton; one daughter: Amanda (Travis) Durand, Milton; fifteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

            Funeral services were held at 1:30 P.M. December 17 at the Bedford Springs Church.  Brother Jim Justice and Bro. Nick Coleman officiated.  Interment was in the Bedford IOOF Cemetery.

Katherine Shuck

 

          Katherine Tinsley Shuck, 87, of Shelbyville, formerly of Eminence, died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Baptist Northeast Hospice.  Daughter of the late Lester and Debbie O’Nan Tinsley, she retired from Boone Gardner Nursery in Middletown and was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Ruby Allnutt, Lexington and Doris (Roger) Chandler, Shelbyville; one sister: Mary Braun, Louisville; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Lora Shuck

 

          Lora Deana Wilhoite Shuck, 99, of Cropper, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Dick and Jessie Berry Wilhoite and a caregiver.

            She is survived by two sons: Earl Shuck, Cropper and Robert Carroll Shuck, Sligo; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 Thursday, December 4 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor of the Pleasureville Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Lula S. Shuck

 

          Lula Smoot Shuck, 96, died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 13 at her home in Pleasureville.  She was the oldest member of the Pleasureville Christian Church where she was active until a few years past.

            Mrs. Shuck, a native of near Lockport, was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy Sparks Smoot who moved early to the Smoot farm near Pleasureville where their family was reared.  She was married to John Thomas Shuck on January 26, 1886.

            Survivors include a daughter: Elizabeth Hammond, Pleasureville; a sister: Mattie Rankin, Louisville; and a great number of nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Thomas Funeral Home in Pleasureville.  Rev. Miller Decker, Pastor of the Pleasureville Christian Church, officiated, assisted by rev. Harold Hendren, Pastor of the Pleasureville Methodist Church.  Burial was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Robert Shuck

 

          Robert Carroll Shuck, 76, of Pendleton, died Thursday, September 16, 2004 at his residence.  He was a native of Henry County, a farmer, a member of the Sligo Baptist Church and the son of the late Prentice and Lora Wilhoite Shuck.

            He is survived by one brother: Earl Shuck, Pleasureville and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held on Friday, Se3ptember 17 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. David Coy officiated.  Burial was in the Sligo Cemetery.

Sarah Shuck

 

          Sarah Margaret Eddins Shuck, 79, of Campbellsburg, died Monday, August 2, 2004 at her residence.  She was a retired employee of Central State Hospital for 25 years and the daughter of the late Frank and Sarah Elizabeth Merriwether Eddins.

            She is survived by one brother: Charles Eddins, Louisville and several nieces and nephews.

            Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  A private memorial service was held.

Shirley Shuck

 

          Shirley Shuck, 75, of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Norton Hospital Louisville.  She was the daughter of the late James Buster and Ruth McAlister Fisher.  She was a member of the Henry Christian Church.

            She is survived by one son: Mike Shuck, Louisville; one daughter: Vionca Lynn (Eddie) Baker, Franklinton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Carter Shuck.

            Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 1 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville. Rev. Tommy Baker officiated.  Burial was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

          Caby jean Sibley, 78, of Bedford, died Sunday, October 31, 2004 in LaGrange.  She was a homemaker, a member of the Sulphur United Methodist Church and the daughter of the late Henry “Mack” and Jean Craig Smith.

            She is survived by her husband: Coleman M. Sibley, Bedford; one son: Thomas C. Sibley, Ghent; one daughter: Gwen (John) Higgins, Bedford; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

            Funeral service es were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Rev. Jon Davenport and Rev. Nick Coleman officiated.  Interment was in the Bedford IOOF Cemetery.

Coleman Sibley

 

          Coleman Mayfield Sibley, 92, of Bedford, died August 28, 2012 at the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  He was the son of the late Oscar and Katie Pierce Sibley.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.

            He is survived by his children: Gwen Higgins and Tom Sibley, both of Bedford.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1 at the Bedford Baptist Church.  Rev. Drew Oakley and Rev. Andy Murry officiated.  Interment was in the Bedford Cemetery.  Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Sibley

 

          Mary Ella Sibley, 93, of Campbellsburg, died Monday, January 29, 2001 at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was a native of Henry County, worked at the licensing department in Frankfort and was a member of the Sulphur Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two sisters: Martha Pryor Smith, Campbellsburg and Leah Stark Smith, Pendleton; four nieces and two nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1 at Ransdell Funeral Home.  Rev. Roy Lillpop and Rev. Carl Rucker officiated.  Interment was in the Sligo Cemetery.

George Simpson

 

          George E. Simpson, 90, of Smithfield, died Wednesday, December 25, 2002 at Crestview Health Care Center, Shelbyville.  He was a native of Shelby County, the son of the late Frederick W. and Jessie McDonald Easton Simpson, a retired farmer and a member of the Masonic Lodge #282 and the Eminence Presbyterian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Martha Tarry Simpson,, Smithfield; three daughters: Mary (Robert) Simpson Hanson, Greenview, IL, and Mardi (Donald) Simpson Crosser, Louisville and Jessie Simpson Jackson, Elizabethtown; two step-daughters: Chloteen (Jimmy) Tarry Page, Farina, IL and Gwen (John Paul) Tarry Nelson, Louisville; one step-son: Mark Michael Tarry, Lexington; seven grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren and eighteen step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Massie Simpson.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Walt Sutton, Louisville, officiated assisted by Rev. Thelma King, Pastor of the Eminence Presbyterian Church.  Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery.

Gerald Simpson

 

          Gerald D. Simpson, 61, of Eminence, died Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at the Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  He was a native of Jefferson County, the son of the late Frank and Mattie Thomas Simpson, a truck driver and a member of Masonic Lodge #829 and the New Castle First Baptist Church.

            He is survived by two sons: Russell Priest, LaGrange and James Priest, Frankfort; one daughter: Vakle Burgin, Eminence; two sisters: Jeannine Deason, Shepherdsville and Schmon Gibson, Louisville; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy E. Abbott Simpson.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 3, at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Dr. David Charlton, Pastor of the New Castle First Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Sligo Cemetery.

Ira Simpson

 

          Sgt 1st Class Ira Simpson, 54, of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at the VA Medical Center, Louisville.  He was the son of the late Tom and Gloria Phyllis Bain Simpson, a maintenance worker at the Carroll County Detention Center, active duty with the National Guard for 31 years and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Rhonda Simpson, Pleasureville; one daughter: Michelle (Jesus Estrada, Cold Water, MI; two sons: Leon M. Simpson and Ira Simpson, II, both of Pleasureville; six sisters: Wava Chapman, Jones, MI, Mildred Long, Three Rivers, MI, Phyllis Jackson, Mendon, MI, Leota Lyons, Pleasureville, Brenda Gilland, Kalamazoo, MI and Susan Stauffer, Centerville, MI and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Chaplain Capt. Claude Hoffman officiated, assisted by Rev. Wayne Kelly, Pastor of the Lockport Baptist Church.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

          Janett Lynn Simpson-Meder, 56, of Port Royal, died Sunday, march 25, 2007.  Daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Vivian Heddon Simpson, she was a member of the Third Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville.

            She is survived by her husband: Thomas Meder, Port Royal; two daughters: Carrie Lynn Cox, Port Royal and Kimberly Jean Kalb, Clarksville, IN; two sons: Christopher James Cox and Robert John Meder, both of Louisville; two sisters: Deborah Doyle, Bowling Green and Caroline Simpson, Louisville; two brothers: Gene Simpson, Louisville and Tony Simpson, Palm Beach, FL and five grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at Prwewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Anna Sims

 

          Anna Godbey Sims, 90, of Sulphur, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at The Richwood Nursing Center, LaGrange.  She was a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church and the daughter of the late Jacob and Artie Durham Godbey.

            She is survived by three daughters: Marilyn Moore, Pleasureville, Reva (Robert) Renaker, Sulphur and Carolyn (Bill) Jo Anderson, Richmond; one son: George (Debbie) Sims, Louisville; one sister: Irene Eoff, Lexington; two brothers: Bill Godbey, Fairfield OH and tom Godbey, Waynesburg; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lealus Jason Sims and two brothers, John and Jeff Godbey.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Kenny Hardway, Pastor of the Point Pleasant Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev.             She is survived by her husband: Edward Singer, Eminence; one daughter: LaTisha Singer, Eminence and one sister: Rhonda Woody, LaGrange.

          Betty Hardesty Singleton, 68, of New Castle, died Saturday February 8, 2003 at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville.  She was a native of Shelby County, a retired farmer and homemaker, a member of the New Castle Christian Church and the daughter of the late Roy C. and Charlotte Bell Hardesty.

            She is survived by her husband: Leonard (Boots) Singleton; two daughters: Charlotte Barnett, Eminence and Mary (Kevin) McManis, Turners Station; two sons: Price Logan Barnett, Mesquite, TX and Roy Bernard Barnett, Eminence; one sister: Charlotte Tipton, Lancaster, OH; and five grandchildren.

Leonard “Boots” Singleton

 

          Leonard “Boots” Singleton, 83, of New Castle, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Crestview Nursing Center in Shelbyville.  Son of the late James S. and Lillie Batts Singleton, he was a life-long farmer, a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the New Castle Christian Church.  Boots was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hardesty Singleton, three sisters, Mary Thomas, Jessie Orem and Mildred Laffoon

and four brothers, W. T., James, Leon and Ralph Singleton.

          He is survived by two daughters: Charlotte Barnett, Eminence and Mary (Kevin) McManis, Turners Station; son: Bernard (Becky) Barnett, Eminence; step-son: Price Logan (Robin) Barnett, Mesquite, TX; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

          Eliza Lee Downey Stephens, 86, of Lockport, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Baptist Hospital in LaGrange in LaGrange.  She was born in Lockport on November 1, 1926, and was a homemaker.  She was the daughter of the late Floyd H. and Frances Aldridge Martin.

            She is survived by her son: Louis Downey, Eminence; five daughters: Carolyn Thompson, Bethlehem, Judy Downey, Eminence, Lavonne Carter, Charlotte, NC, Bertha Jean McIntosh, LaGrange and Reba Jackson, Sulphur; three sisters: Mary Clauss, Ohio, Anita Jean Martin, Eminence and Marie Downey, Defoe; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd Downey and William Stephens, a daughter, Vickie Lee Downey, a brother, Robert Martin, a sister, Anna Raisor and two grandsons.

Tillett, 67, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.  She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Edith May Tillett, she was retired from the Carrollton IGA and was a member of the Lockport Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by two sisters: Barb Smith and Janice Jones and a brother: Donnie Tillett.

            She is survived by three sisters: Peggy Fisher, Lockport, Dot Rice, Frankfort and Dana (James) Lee, Bethlehem; and one brother: Wayne (Shirley) Tillett, Mount Olive.

          Brenda L. Tingle, 61, of Eminence, died Thursday, August 1, 2002 at Jewish Hospital Louisville after an extended illness.  She was a native of Frankfort, the daughter of the late James (Jimmy) A. Vest, operated Tingle’s Shell, Eminence for 15 years with her husband, was a certified medical technician and formerly with the Henry County EMS.

            She is survived by her husband: Cecil Tingle, Eminence; two sons: Brad Tingle, Waynesville, NC and Bruce Tingle, Bethlehem; two daughters: Diane Tingle and Beth Masterson, both of Bedford; her mother: Mary Elizabeth Hulette Brewer, Frankfort; one brother: Robert vest, Shelbyville; one sister: Joyce Parker, Frankfort; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

          Richard “Dumas” Wright, Jr., 70, of Eminence, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  Son of the late Mary Elizabeth Goff and Richard Brown Wright, Sr., he formerly worked for Ford Motor Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Eminence.

            He is survived by his wife: Laura Johnson Wright, Eminence; two step-daughters: Felicia Jackson and Rebecca Jackson, both of Louisville; two sisters: Janet (Robert Jesse) Fields, Eminence, and Mary Thornton, Eminence; two brothers: Mikey and Leroy Wright, both of Eminence; mother-in-law: Mary Johnson, New Castle; two granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
