Edgar Gammon

 

          Edgar Gammon, 95, of Eminence, died Thursday, November 22, 2001 at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville Inpatient Unit.  He was a native of Trimble County, the son of the late William Andy and Ada Lee Handlon Gammon and was a retired farmer.

            He is survived by one sister: Pauline Lynn, Cincinnati, OH and one step-son: Terry Gammon, Eminence.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A. Rucker Gammon.

            Funeral service3s were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. David Charlton, Pastor of the New Castle First Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Charles Gardner

 

          Charles Gardner, 94, of Carrollton, died Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Florence Park Care Center, Florence.  A native of Henry County, he was the son of the late Jess L. and Mammie Gordon Gardner, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and a retired parking garage manager.

            He is survived by his wife: Antoinette Carpenter Gardner, Carrollton; two sisters: Dorothy Wood, Campbellsburg and Evelyn (Glen) Hood, Frankfort; one brother: Robert Gardner, Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Jim Carpenter of New York officiated, assisted by Rev. Carl Rucker, Pastor of the Port Royal Baptist Church.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Louise Gardner

 

Louise Gardner, 72, of Campbellsburg, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Bruce and Nora Mae Masterson Preston and a member of the Campbellsburg Christian Church.

          She is survived by seven sisters: Lois Chilton, Margaret Moberly, Virginia Adler, all of Pleasureville, Katherine Ricketts, Springfield, Francis Grigsby, Mary Elizabeth Preston and Bonnie Kidwell, all of Eminence, four brothers: Buck Preston, Hawesville, Harvey Preston, Franklinton, Jesse Owen Preston, Bethlehem and John Preston, Pleasureville; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Gardner and two brothers, Carl Gene Preston and Raymond Preston.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Carl Rucker officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Lydia Gardner

 

          Lydia Blanche Rodgers Gardner, 86, of Franklinton, died Saturday, February 16, 2002 at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was the daughter of the late George Jessie and Margaret Ann Rankin Rodgers and a member of the Franklinton Baptist Church.

            She is survived by one daughter: Mary (Carroll) Wright, LaGrange; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest J. Gardner.

            Funeral services were he3ld at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Jackie Newton, Pastor of the Franklinton Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Anne Garrett

 

          Anna James Garrett, 67, of Shelbyville, died Thursday February 5, 2004 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Morris and Mary Harris Thomas James, a retired bookkeeper with Wehr Constructors and attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

            She is survived by two sons: Bobby Garrett, Shelbyville and Bryan Garrett, Finchville; four daughters: Kendall Garrett, Taylorsville, Lynn (Monty) Shafer, Cropper, Dana (Jay) Roberts, Shelbyville and Jane (Scott) Lear, Baumholder, Germany; one brother: Bobby James, Las Vegas, NV; one sister: Mary (Dan) Dean, Louisville; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Donald Garrett.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 11 at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Henry Lapprow and Rev. Ed Berry officiated.  Burial was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Ina Garriott

 

          Ina Clark Garriott, 73, of LaGrange, died Saturday, February 3, 2001 at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, LaGrange.  She was a native of Trimble County, the daughter of the late Arthur and Minnie Lee Demaree Clark, a seamstress for Brunswick and a member of the LaGrange Heights Baptist Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Denise Wilson, LaGrange and Susan Diaz, Campbellsburg; one brother: Lavaughn Clark, Campbellsburg; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Garriott.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Doug Boyd officiated.  Burial was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

Carletta Gaskins

 

          Carletta Louden Gaskins, 65, of Louisville, died Saturday, February 1, 2003 at her home.  She was a native of Cincinnati and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Louden.

            She is survived by a daughter: Kathy Fromme, Louisville; two sons: Mark Black, Chicago, Il and Paul Gaskins, Louisville; a brother: Edward Louden, Pendleton and two sisters: Kay Blatz, Bedford and Laverne Goodlett, Crandall, IN.

             Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Carl Rucker officiated.  Burial was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Thelma Gayhart

 

          Thelma Taylor Gayhart, 83, of Louisville, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Episcopal Church Home.  She was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church and a business woman. 

            She is survived by her daughter: Sally Suter; granddaughters: Ashley Perry and Adrienne Adams; grandson: John Taylor Suter; and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Taylor.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 12.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.  Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood, was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Gibson

 

          Betty Jane Hack Gibson, 76, of Jeffersonville, IN, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Clark memorial Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late James William and Effie Turner Hack.

            She is survived by four sons: Cletus Ray Gibson, Turners Station, Michael William Gibson, LaGrange, Glenual Gibson, Jeffersonville, In and Alvin Thomas Gibson, Pendleton; and one daughter: Effie Christine DeShazier, Jeffersonville, IN.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2 at the Campbellsburg Apostolic Church, Campbellsburg.  Glenual Gibson and Brother James Maroney officiated, assisted by Rev. Bob Caton.  Burial was in the Gibson Family Cemetery.  Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

          Thelma Gibson, 91, of Pendleton, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at The Richwood, LaGrange.  She was the4 daughter of the late John Wid Morgan and Eva L. Wheeler Morgan.

            She is survive4d by one daughter, Sondra (Gary) Ferguson, Lexington.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21.  Rev. Darrell Wilson officiated. Interment was in the Bedford Cemetery.

Thomas Gilbert

 

          Thomas Elwood Gilbert, 71, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at his residence.  He was a plant manager, a member of the Baptist Church and Solomons Lodge #5, a Kentucky Colonel and a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.

            He is survived by his wife: Charlotte Gilbert, Shelbyville; one daughter: Deb ra Bohannon, Spencer County; one brother: Clarence Gilbert, Pleasureville; one sister: Barbara Myers, Louisville; two step-daughters: Susan Menkes, Newport Beach, CA and Terry Delker, Fairhope, AL; one step-son: Thomas Wright, Jr., Shelby County and two grandsons.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6 at Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Rev. Vernon Huber, Shelby Christian Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Brady Victor.  Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Ralph Gilbert �Buck� Goodlet

 

          Ralp Gilbert �Buck� Goodlet, 81, of Smithfield, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Norton Suburban Hospital, Louisville.  Son of the late Charles Albert and Mallie Williams Goodlet, he was a mechanic and a member of the Smithfield Christian Church.  Buck was a Master Mason in the Pewee Valley Lodge No. 829 for more than 47 years.

            He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Mildred Graff Kaelin Goodlet, Smithfield; one son: James Carflton Goodlet, Smithfield; step-sons: Raymond L. Kaelin, Louisville, and John Robert Kaelin, San Antonio, TX; step-daughter: Karen (Joe) Michaels, Hiwassee, GA; one sister: Mary Frances Allen, LaGrange; one brother: Ray Thomas Goodlet, LaGrange; seven step-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Milinda Frances Goodlet Guffy, step-son, Joseph Scott Kaelin and a sister, Martha Jean Brooks.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 1 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Thurman, Pastor of the Smithfield Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Resthaven Memorial Park, Louisville.

Ruby Gunnell

 

          Ruby P. Gunnell, 89, of Eminence, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  Daughter of the late George and Mattie Perry Pounds, she was the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Eminence for over 30 years.

            She is survived by one daughter: Sandra �Sissy� (Herb) Donaldson, Louisville; three sons: Wayne (Lou) Gunnell, Eminence, Dan Gunnell and Robert (Maria) Gunnell, all of Louisville; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Dr. David Charlton officiated, assisted by Rev. Jesse Baxter.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Lillian Hargrove

 

          Lillian Vaughn Hargrove, 100, of Eminence, died February 19, 2001 at the Masonic Home in Louisville.  She was a native of Russell Springs, the daughter of the late John Marvin and Minnie Stokes Vaughn, served as housemother at the Christian Church Home in Danville and a member and deacon of the Eminence Christian Church.

            She is survived by one son: Robert Vaughn Hargrove, Shelbyville; one daughter: Mary Evelyn Hargrove (William Leslie) Land, Eminence; one sister: Elizabeth Vaughn Clifton, LaGrange; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. 

            Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 22 at the Ransdell Funeral Home, Eminence.  Rev. Terrye Williams, Pastor of the Eminence Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.

John Harley

 

          John C. Harley, 74, of Eminence, died Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was the son of the late Fred and Mary Sutton Harley, a retired farmer and a member of the Glen Oaks Baptist Church, Louisville.

            He is survived by one son: Tommy Downey, Boston; one brother: Bud Harley, Eminence; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Margaret Spurr Harley and one daughter, Vivian Dunn.

            Funeral services were he3ld at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 16 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Bill Brumley, Hospice of Louisville Chaplain, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Carl Harlow, Jr.

 

          Carl J. Harlow, Jr., 64, of Smithfield, died Sunday, December 16, 2001 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was the son of the late Carl and Delia Harlow, a retired employee of Ohio Valley Aluminum Company, Shelbyville for 34 years and a member of the Eminence Christian Church.

            He is survived by one sister, Rebecca (Donald) Adcock, Eminence and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. John Brand, Interim Pastor of the Cropper Christian Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Russell Harlow

 

          Russell T. Harlow, 68, of Baldwinville, MA died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at Heywood Hospital, Gardner, MA.  He was a native of Defoe, the son of the late Jesse T. Sr. and Aline Rucker Harlow, a 1949 graduate of Eminence High School, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, an employee of Baldwinville Products Company

for 43 years and a member of the Eminence Christian Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Stella E. Cote Harlow, Baldwinville, MA; three daughters: Deborah A. White, Phillipston, MA, Theresa M. Sillanpas Fitzwilliam, NH and Susan C. Zablonski, Baldwinville, MA; one brother: Jesse T. Harlow, Jr., Eminence; three sisters: Mary Joyce Lynn and Hazel Hawkins, both of Port Royal and Judy Woods, Pleasureville; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, march 31 at Fletcher-Hebert Funeral Home, Winchendon, MA.  Burial was in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville.

          Sallie �Peggy� Moore harp, 62, of Port Royal, died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, LaGrange.  She was the daughter of the late Joe and Lillie Montgomery Moore, a farmer and homemaker.

            She is survived by three daughters: Gearldean (Edford) Mahoney, Sr. and Elaine (Charles) Boler, both of Campbellsburg and Barbara (John) Gonzalez, New Castle;  one son: Michael Scott Harp, Campbellsburg; four step-daughters: Dora Elizabeth Shaw, Covington, Maudie Harlow and Mary Driver, both of Bagdad, and Beulah Thomas, Shelbyville; three step-sons: Buddy harp, Eminence, Pete Harp, Smithfield and Jimmy Harp, Campbellsburg; two sisters: Hallie Berry and Littie Heitzman, both of Campbellsburg; five brothers: Walker Moore and Lee Moore, both of Turners Station, Charlie Moore and Clarence Moore, both of Campbellsburg and George Moore, Franklinton; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; twenty-nine ste-grandchildren and thirty-two step-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Harp and one son, William Harrison Harp.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Alberta Harper

 

          Alberta Tyree Harper, 93, of Gest, died Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Hamilton, OH, daughter of the late Sat and Carrie Christopher Tyree.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant view Methodist Church.

            She is survived by one niece, three nephews and several great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Harper.

            Funeral services were held at noon Wednesday, April 22 at the Pleasureville Cemetery.  Rev. Carl Leslie Rucker officiated.  Sholar funeral home, Pleasureville, was in charge of arrangements.

Ella Harrell

 

          Ella Mae Harrell, 83, of Louisville, formerly of Henry County, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Presbyterian Homes on KY.  She was a retired nurse�s aide at Our Lady of Peace Hospital and the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian Gardner.  She also was a member of the Buechel Park Baptist Church.

            She is survived by her son: Terry (Deedy) Harrell; one brother: Rev. Larry Gardner, Lexington; one sister: Evelyn Farris; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harrell, two brothers and two stisters.

            Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home, Louisville.  Interment was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Lily Harrell

 

          Lily K. Harrell, 64, of Goshen, died Thursday, June 19, 2003. She was the daughter of late Victoria Sampson and Leonard Ketteley, a nanny and a member of the Drennon Christian Church.

            She is survived by four daughters: Jody Bachmann, Louisville, Sherry Hardin and Debbie Devine, Port Royal and Stacy Irwin, Goshen; one step-son: Jeff Wilson; one sister: Eileen Marks, England; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester D. Harrell and two sons, Alan Dale and Dale Edwin Harrell.

            Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 24 at Arch L. Heady Radcliff Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. Mark Smith officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

          James Harris, formerly of New Castle, died Sunday night at his home in Tucson, AZ.  Funeral services were conducted in Tucson.

            He is survived by his wife; three daughters: Fannie Flood and Mrs. Earl Dowden, both of Port Royal and Mrs. Eddie Adler, Bethlehem; and half-sister: Mrs. James Hall, Pleasureville.

          Robert Hartman, Jr., 83, of Carrollton, died Friday, May 31, 2013 at Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, Carrollton.  He was the son of the late Robert Gilbert and Mary Agnes Pyles Hartman.

            He is survived by his wife: Julia Power Hartman.

            Funeral services were held Monday, June 3 at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton.  Revs. Keith Miller and Carl Rucker officiated.  Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Carrollton.

          Kenneth Lyle James, 87, of Dallas, TX, formerly of Henry County, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Traymore Nursing Center, Dallas, TX.  He was the son of the late Silas and Rosalie Carter James and served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force.

            He is survived by three sisters: Nola James, Crestwood, Alma Chisholm, Eminence and Glenna Coleman, Sulphur.

            Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15 at the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Dewey Johnson, Jr.

 

Dewey Johnson, Jr., 89, of Campbellsburg, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at The Richwood in LaGrange.  He was the son of the late Dewey Washington and Geneva Eades Johnson.

            He is survived by his children: Joel Dewey Johnson, Tonopah, NV, Barbara Lynn Harvey and Eric Helmer Johnson, both of Campbellsburg.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Ronnie Tiller officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

          DeMint �Paw� Jones, Jr., 82, died June 8, 2013 at the Baptist Hospital Northeast.  He was the son of the late Demint and Elizabeth Calvert Jones.

            He is survived by his wife: Sue Carder Jones, Campbellsburg; daughter: Pam Johnson, Pulaski, WI and son Carroll Demint Jones, Campbellsburg.

          Vincent Paul �Butch� Neser, 62, of New Castle, died at his home on Saturday, June 1, 2013.  He was the son of the late Edmond John and Elizabeth Neser.

            He is survived by his wife: Connie; daughter: Stephanie Newbold; and step-children: Tracy Foree and Kevin Apple.

            The Oldham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bennie S. Nevill

 

          Bennie S. Nevill, 81, formerly of Turners Station and Louisville, died July 10, 1970 at the Norton Memorial Infirmary, Louisville.  He had lived at the Odd Fellows Home, Lexington, for the last six years.  He had been a member of the order for 49 years and belonged to the lodge at Eminence.  He was a member of the Turners Station Baptist Church.

            He is survived by two daughters: Helen Ellis, Jeffersontown and Catherine Funk, Louisville; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at the Owen Suburban Chapel in Louisville.  Rev. Louis Walters, pastor of Ralph Avenue Baptist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.

          Berdine Erwin Nolin, 91, of Smithfield, died Saturday, May 25, 2013 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Carlie Erwin and Virginia Louden.

            She is survived by one daughter: Linda Briley, Eminence; and two sons: Allen Nolin and Roddy Nolin, both of Smithfield.

Betty Oliver

 

          Betty Lee Quire Oliver, 79, of Bethlehem, died at her home on Sunday, May 12, 2013.  Daughter of the late Robert Boyd and Anna Lee Pulliam Quire and she was a member and an elder of the Smithfield Christian Church.  Betty was a nurse at the Henry County Clinic for twenty-three years.

            She is survived by her husband: J. Hazel Parks

 

          Hazel Lucille Parks, 74, of Frankfort, formerly of Henry County, died Thursday, June 21, 2001 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Walter Leslie and Clara Blackaby Fink, a retired nursing technician, a nurse�s aide, a member of the Grub Ridge Christian Church and attended Berea Christian Church.

            She is survived by three sons: Ricky Aldridge, Oregon, MO, Walter Aldridge, Swallowfield and Dennis Aldridge, Frankfort; four daughters: Anna (Bert) Smith, Frankfort, Betty Nokes, Asheville, NC, Sandy (Danny) Lewis, Wheelersburg, OH and Anita (Michael) Fisher, Bethlehem; one brother: James Fink, Franklinton; four sisters: Elnora McAllister, Eminence, Jewell Raisor, Bardstown, Allie Hazelwood Bramlette, Campbellsburg and Ruby Willhite, Scottsburg, IN; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one son, Harold Keith Aldridge and four grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Larry Montgomery officiated, assisted by Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church.  Burial was in the Franklinton Cemetery.

Leora Parrish

 

          Leora Long Parrish, 86, of Eminence, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Baptist Northeast Hospice Unit in LaGrange.  Daughter of the late Edward and Hallie Mae Kelley Long, she was a member of the Eminence United Pentecostal Church.

            She is survived by her husband: Paul Carter Parrish, Eminence; four daughters: Shirley Fitzgerald, Eminence, Brenda (Rod) Hillhouse, Ft. Scott, KS, Darlene (Sam) Wilson, Potts Camp, MS and Patricia (Mike) Bingham, Carlsbad, New Mexico; three sons: James Earl (Rayetta) Parrish, Atlanta, GA, Marvin Ray (Doris) Parrish, Wabash, IN and Virgil (Mary Ann) Parrish, Smithfield; two sisters: Elizabeth tingle and Lucille Parrish, both of Eminence; two brothers: Ester Long and Marvin Long, both of Eminence; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Viola Aldridge and one brother, Herman Long.

            Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 18 at the Eminence United Pentecostal Church.  Rev. Robert Eades, Pastor of the Eminence United Pentecostal Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Louis Edday, of Eminence.  Interment was in the Shady Lawn Cemetery, Shelby County.

Lucille Parrish

 

          Lucille Long Parrish, 95, of Eminence, died Friday, May 3, 2013 in Lexington.  She was a seamstress and worked for 27 years with the Baptist Association at Cedarmore.  She was a member of the Eminence United Pentecostal Church.  She was the daughter of the late Edward �Ned� and Hallie Mae Kelly Long.

            She is survived by one daughter: Wanda Beckley, Lexington; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and brother: Marvin Long, Eminence.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Otho Parrish, a daughter, Pearl Parrish, three sisters, Viola Aldridge, Leora Parrish and Elizabeth tingle and two brothers, Herman and Ester Long.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 at the Eminence United Pentecostal Church.  Bro. Robert Eades, Pastor of the Eminence United Pentecostal Church, and Bro. Louis Eddy, Eminence.

Roberta Parrott

 

          Roberta R. Dawes Parrott, 76, of LaGrange, died Monday, January 15, 2001 at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, LaGrange.  She was a native of Jeffersonville, IN, a homemaker and a member of the LaGrange Christian Church.

            She is survived by her husband: Robert H. Parrott, LaGrange; three sons: Nolon B. Dant, Elizabethtown, Robert D. Dant, Bon Aquq, TN and James W. Dant, Mt. Juliet, TN; two step-sons: Joe Parrott, Columbus, OH and Robert Winburn, Eminence; one step-daughter: Tina Sass, Tampa, FL; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

          A memorial service was held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16 at the LaGrange Christian Church.  Rev. Don Nafta officiated.

Judge James H. Peterson

 

          Judge James H. Patterson, 98, believed to be Henry County�s oldest citizen, died Monday at his home in Eminence after a three day illness.  He had lived for sixty years in the home in which he died.  He was a member of the Eminence Baptist Church.

            Born in 1847 during the Mexican War, he had seen the nation at war five times.  He served as Judge of the Eminence City Courts for 52 years, and retired in 1930.  He was noted as a story teller and authority on Eminence and Henry County history, his mind being exceptionally clear on even minor details until recently.  He made regular trips to the business district of Eminence and talked to friends most clearly until a few months ago.  He never lost interest in his garden and flowers.

            Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.  Rev. P. C. Long, New Castle, a friend of many years, officiated.  Burial was in the Eminence Cemetery.

            He is survived by two daughters: Lilly Reynolds and Lora Patterson, who made their home with him.

James L. Patterson

 

          James L. Patterson, 53, of Campbellsburg, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.  He was the son of the late John and Beulah Napier Patterson, an artist and ministry in the prison ministry, A Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Family Worship Center, Carrollton.

            He is survived by his wife: Vicki Dickens Patterson, Campbellsburg; one son: James Patterson, Campbellsburg; one daughter: Stephanie Patterson, Campbellsburg; three brothers: Billy E. Patterson and John Harrison Patterson, both of Campbellsburg and Charles L. Patterson, LaGrange; five sisters: Pat Howard and Velma Miracle, both of Pineville, Rose Adams, Pendleton, Beverly Mills, Frankfort and Nancy Acree, LaGrange and three grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14 at the Family Worship Center, Carrollton.  Rev. Pat Butcher officiated.  Burial was in the Campbellsburg Cemetery.  Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Paul

 

          Charles Milton Paul, 63, of Eminence, died Thursday, November 13, 2003 at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  He was the son of the late Preston and Josie Long Paul.

            He is survived by one son: Thomas Paul, Eminence; companion: Bonnie Hance, Eminence; two step-sons: Glenn Hance, Grassy Creek and Rodney Hance, Shelbyville and an aunt.

            Funeral services held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Eminence.  Rev. Michael Duncan officiated.  Burial was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Dolly Payne

 

          Dolly Payne, 80, of Eminence, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2008 at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  Daughter of the late Benjamin Wallace Lowry and Fannie Bell Leet Sewell, she was a member of the Eminence United Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband: David W. Payne.

            She is survived by her son: Larry D. (Deloris) Payne, Louisville; one granddaughter: Sandee L. Smith, Eminence; a great-granddaughter: Sophia J. Smith, Eminence; a sister: Ann Owens, Tennessee; a brother: Wallace Benjamin Lowry, Jr., LaFayette, IN.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 25 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the Eminence United Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church.  Burial was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Gayle Payne

 

          Gayle Payne, 70, of Pleasureville, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital, Louisville.  He was born in Shelbyville, the son of the late Orie and Myrtle Morris Payne.  He was a mechanic and farmer and a member of the Salem Baptist Church.

            He is survived by his wife: Elaine Payne, Pleasureville; one son: Eugene Payne, Shepherdsville; one daughter: Teresa (Mark) Tillet, Eminence; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

            Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 27 at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jeff Bramel, Pastor of the Pleasureville United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

          Marjorie Kelley Payne, 77, of Eminence, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late George William and Emma Kopp Kelley, a retired restaurant owner and a member of the Drennon Christian Church.

            She is survived by two daughters: Charlsie (Thomas G.) Tingle, Eminence and Betty (Theron) Harden, Rifle, CO; one son: Jackie B. Payne, Eminence; two sisters: Elizabeth (George) Huffington, Hanover, IN and Emma Broughton, Orlando, FL; two brothers: Charles Kelley, New Castle and Frank Kelley, Eminence; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ballard S. Payne.

            Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 10 at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.
