James H. Perry, 60, Louisville, formerly of Henry County, died July 14, 1970 at the St. Joseph Infirmary, Louisville. He is survived by his wife: Susie Pearl Perry; his father: Grover C. Perry, Shelbyville; two daughters: Mrs. H. T. Waits, Greensboro, NC and Mrs. George Melsenhelder, Louisville; one son: Elmer J. Perry, Crestwood; two sisters: Mrs. Dewood Burner, Waddy and Mrs. Clyde Ellis, Pleasureville and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence. Rev. White of Louisville officiated. Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Dr. Doris R. petty, 89, originally of Des Moines, NM, died on March 24, 2013 at her home at Horse Branch. She was a chiropractor in Eminence for about 45 years, a member of the Eminence Board of Education and a member of the Eminence United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter: Alice (Corry) Petty Watts and many nieces and nephews. She was buried in their family cemetery in a private ceremony. A memorial service was held at the Eminence United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1.

She is survived by her children: Larry Powell, Bedford, Dallas Powell, Milan, IN, Nicholas Powell, Pendleton and Mark Powell, Campbellsburg. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16 at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford. Rev. Earl Wayne Perry and Rev. Chris Powell officiated.

John W. Smith, Jr., 83, of New Castle, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 at The Richwood Nursing Center in LaGrange. John was the son of the late Elizabeth Jenkins and John W. Smith, Sr. and was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Roberts. John was a member of the Henry County Board of Education for over 30 years and has served as its chairman. He was also past-president and Vice-President of the Kentucky School Boards Association, employed at Browning Pontiac-Chevrolet in Eminence since 1990, served 40 years on the New Castle Volunteer Fire Department, a member and deacon of the Main Street Baptist Church, New Castle and a U.S. Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife: Henrietta Parker Smith, New Castle; daughter: Pamella (Gregory) Henderson, Pasadena, MD; sisters: Mary Marshall, Shelbyville, Lillian Smith (Milton) Tucker, Fayetteville, GA, and Hallie Smith, Phoenix, AZ; brother: William (Wanda) Smith, Louisville and three grandchildren of Maryland. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at the Henry County High School Auditorium. Burial was in the New Castle GUOOF Cemetery.

Melisa Lee Price Stalker, 50, of Eminence, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Norton Hospital, Louisville. She was a member of the Eastwood First Baptist Church and a graduate of the University of Louisville, where she received a Bachelor�s Degree in Education. She received a Master�s Degree from Georgetown University and was an elementary Teacher in the Eminence Independent Schools. She is survived by her husband: Charlie L. Stalker, Shelbyville; one daughter: Sarah Ruth Stalker, Shelbyville; two sons: Charles �Randy� Stalker and Andrew Stalker, both of Shelbyville; mother: Patsy W. Price, Turners Station; father: Harold (Rita) Price, Campbellsburg; one sister: Melodye Price3 Lemon, Shelbyville; one brother: Robert Eric Price, Turners Station; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son: Matthew Spencer Stalker and her brother, Randy price. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. He was a native of Johnson County, a resident of New Castle since 1933 and a member of the New Castle Christian Church. He is survived by one brother: John Stambaugh, Springfield, OH; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and his daughter-in-law: Mrs. James L. Stambaugh, Jr., Lexington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emmabelle Searcy Stambaugh and his son, Dr. James L. Stambaugh, Jr. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15 at Prewitt New Castle Home. Rev. He is survived by his wife, Jill Marie Roberts Stamper, Pleasureville; one daughter: Jaden Stamper; one son: Austin Stamper, one step-daughter: Nikki Roberts, all of Pleasureville; his mother: Carol Jean Chisenhall Stamper, Louisville; three brothers: Mac Stamper, Jr., Somerset, Mike Stamper, Louisville and Marty Stamper, LaGrange; and one sister: Lavon Cline, LaGrange. He was a guard at the KY State Reformatory, a member of the Good Shepherd Church, Owensboro and served in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife: Rebecca White Stangle, Hawesville; five sons: Dale Stangle, Connorsville, IN, Maurice Stangle, Campbellsburg, Jon Mark Gaynor, Hawesville, Michael E. He was a native of Louisville, formerly of Henry County, the son of the late William L. Stanley, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, a truck driver and a police officer at the West Beuchel Police Department, and a member of the Sligo Baptist Church. Mrs. Starks, the former Anita Gividen of Sulphur, was a former president of the auxiliary of Goodwill Industries of Kentucky and was active in the Women�s Christian Temperance Union. She is survived by her husband, Rufus, a retired Southern Bell Telephone Company executive. Funeral services were held at Ratterman�s Funeral Home, Louisville at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Burial was in the Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville.

Stevens, Elizabethtown; two sisters: Dana Yeary, Rineyville and Michelle (Jeremy) Dennison, Frankfort; two brothers: Kenneth Yeary, Frankfort and Keith Yeary, Pleasureville; three nieces and three nephews. William A. �Bill� Stewart, 74, of Turners Station, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at the Veterans Hospital, Louisville. Son of the late Decker and Gladys Taylor Stewart, and was retired from the U. S. Navy, having served in the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Bay of Pigs. He was a member of the Port Royal Baptist Church for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife: Vonda Stewart, Turners Station; step-daughter: Mary (Bill) Hillard, Turners Station; step-son: Benjamin Joseph (Jaime) Kelley, Louisville and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Stewart and one sister, Duncan West. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 8 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. She is survived by one son: Morris Stivers, Eminence; one daughter: Lucille Simpson, Eminence; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 17 at The Ricketts Funeral Home, Eminence. Rev. John Brand, Pastor of the Eminence Christian Church, officiated. Interment was in the Shady Lawn Memorial Garden, Shelby County.

John Thomas �Tom� Stivers, 59, of Eminence, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and the son of the late Chester Arthur Stivers and Leona Ruth Hall Stivers of Bethlehem. He is survived by his wife: Evelyn Capito Stivers, Eminence; a daughter: Kristi (Michael) Tingle, New Castle; a son: John Thomas (Kim) Stivers, Russell Springs; two sisters: Charlotte (Earl) Tingle, Lagrange and Cheryl (David) Smith, Eminence; three brothers: Chester A. (Sandra) Stivers, New Castle, Neil (Louise) Stivers, Eminence and mike (Nancy) Stivers, LaGrange; two granddaughters: Cherish Nicole Stivers, Russell Springs and Kaylee Lane Tingle, New Castle. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Dr. John Dever, Louisville and Ron Laughlin, Pastor of the Port Royal United Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Leona Ruth Hall Stivers, 79, of Bethlehem, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at Suburban Hospital, Louisville. She was the daughter of the late Hilton P. and Naomi Hankins Hall, a member of the DAR and the Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. She is survived by two daughters: Charlotte Stivers McAllister, New Castle and Cheryl (David) Smith, Eminence; four sons: Chester A. Stivers, Jr., New Castle, Neil H. Stivers and Tommy Stivers, both of Eminence and Mike Stivers, LaGrange; two sisters: Violet Thurmond, Edgewood and Marcia (John) Dever, Louisville; fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. Stivers, Sr. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Barry Parker, Pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

She was a native of Henry County, the daughter of the late Montry and Minnie Barnsfather Parks, a homemaker and a member of the Eminence Christian Church. She is survived by two brothers: Gary Ray Stivers, Campbellsburg and Edward Allen Stivers, New Castle; one brother: Montry Parks, Somerset; three sisters: Katie Florence Beutel, Williamstown, Edith marie Dean, Nashville and Lola Heilman, Versailles; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott Stivers. Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30 at the Pleasureville Cemetery. Rev. Terrye Williams officiated. He is survived by his wife: Prudie Cannon Stivers, Corbin; his mother: Marcheta Sibley Stivers, Corbin; two sons: Larry Stivers, Lexington and Robbie Stivers, Knoxville, TN; one daughter: Kathryn �Kathy� Lind, Plano, TX; one sister: Theadis Damewood, Plano, TX; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at the First United Methodist Church, Corbin. Dr. Walton Gardner, Dr. Richard Holladay, Dr. Jim Stratton, Rev. Ron Young, Dr. David Joyce, Dr. Al Gwinn and Rev. Tim Thompson, officiated. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Corbin. Corbin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was a native of Henry County, the son of the late Boyd and Mary Ethel Beutel Stivers, a U. S. Navy Veteran of WWII, retired from Ford Motor Company and a member of the Eminence Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife: Daisy Garrett Stivers, LaGrange; one daughter: Ellie Husband, Crestwood; one son: Delbert A. Stivers, LaGrange; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A private memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated. The deceased was cremated.
