Sylvia Lofton

 

Sylvia Dean Jones Lofton, 82, of Bedford, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  Daughter of the late John Turner and Hattie Cravens Jones, she was a member of the Sulphur Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Dalton Junior Jones, Bedford; two daughters: Brenda Taylor Shiley, Bedford and Donan Gene Hite (Jerry), TN; one son: Jack L. D. Taylor, Bedford; two sisters: Helen Adams, KY and Jessica Burton, Toledo, OH; one brother: Kenneth Jones, Lockport; a niece: Martha Frances Elston, Eminence; a nephew: Chet Runion, Bedford; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Dalton Junior Lofton II; five brothers, Chester, James, John Paul, Wilbur and Leslie Jones; and one sister, Juanita Vanderburgh.

 

Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19th at the Sulphur Baptist Church.  Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Genoa Kayte London

 

Genoa Kayte London, 23, of Eminence, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009.  She was born in Seattle, WA and moved to Henry County in 2007.  She attended the Mt. Eden Horseshoeing School.

 

She is survived by her son: Cristian Alejandro Gramajo London, Eminence; her mother: Melissa London, Seattle, WA; her father: Randy Orndorff, Renton, WA; step-parents: Tim Platt and Ken Hammer, both of Seattle, WA; one brother: Seamus London Platt, Pacific Grove, CA; one sister: Elanna London Hammer, Seattle, WA; grandfather: Charles London, Bellevue, WA; grandmother: Janna Gingras, Friday Harbor, WA and two aunts.  She was preceded in death by Cristian Williams Gramajo Lopez, the father of her son.

 

A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.

Charles Edward Long

 

Charles Edward Long, 88, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at his residence near  Cropper.  Born in Henry County to the late Herman Clarence and Ethel Jones Long, he was a retired dairy farmer.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a former member of the Cropper Ruritan Club.

 

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Armstrong Long; his sons: Wayne, Pleasureville, Keith and wife, Debbie, Mt. Eden, and Glenn and his wife, Orissa, Cropper;  four grandchildren: Sarah Nancy Long, Regina Long, Wesley Long and Leslie Long; one great-grandchild: Ashley Long and several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31st, at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville.  Bishop Douglas Fielding officiated.  Interment was in the Cropper Cemetery.

Irene Long

 

Irene Long of Milton died Monday, November 29, 1993 at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  She was a native of Floyd County, an attorney, a protem judge in Henry, Trimble and Oldham Counties and a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: James L. Long; one sister: Pauline Bowling, Louisville and two nieces.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2nd at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford.  Burial was in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville.

Pauline Long

 

Pauline Long, 79, of Eminence, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at Baptist Northeast Hosparus Unit.  She was the daughter of the late John Oldham and Maggie Bennett Chisholm.  She was a charter member of the Eminence Pentecostal Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Marvin Long, Eminence; four daughters: Carolyn Marie Long, Marline Long and Elizabeth boggs, all of Lexington and Mary Ann Bates, Eminence; one son: Ronald Lee Long, Winchester, TN; one brother: Harold Chisholm, Eminence; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 20th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Pastor Robert Eads, of the Eminence Pentecostal Church officiated, assisted by Rev. Louis Edday, Eminence.  Interment was in the Eminence Cemetery.

Florence Louden

 

Florence E. Louden, 90, of LaGrange, formerly of Louisville, died Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Richwood Nursing Center, LaGrange.  She was a former employee of the U. S. Naval Avionics and JC Penny and the daughter of the late Goodloe and Liza McAllister Louden.

 

She is survived by several nieces.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2nd at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. O.B. Smith, Pastor of the Sulphur Christian Church officiated.  Interment was in the Sulphur Cemetery.

Goldie Louden

 

Goldie Reed Louden, 73, of Eminence, died suddenly Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late George and Serena Wentworth Reid and a member of the Point Pleasant Christian Church.

 

She is survived by four daughters: Nancy Raisor, Delilah Brewer (James), Bonnie Fairchild Ellis (Ron) and Wilma Erwin (Bobby), all of Eminence; two sons: Owen Louden, Louisville and Donald Louden, Eminence; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one son, Aimuel Dean Louden.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 2nd at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Jerry Stanley, Pastor of the New Castle United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.

Nat Louden

 

Nat Louden, 85, of LaGrange, died December 21, 1977 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Louisville.  He was a retired security officer for the General Service Administration of the Federal Government in Louisville.  He was a former resident of Henry County and a veteran of WWI and a member of Oldham Post # 39 American Legion, LaGrange.

 

He is survived by his wife: Alma Lynch Louden; one daughter: Doris Campagna (Sam), Pittsburg, PA;  two sons: Edward N. Louden, Sulphur and Robert W. Louden, Cape Coral, FL; ten grandchildren; two step- grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; one sister: Elizabeth Taylor (Roy), Sulphur and one brother: Howard Louden, Sulphur.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. December 24th at the Adkins-Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. Gene Force, Pastor of the Buckner Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.

Noredda Louden

 

Noredda Hawkins Louden, 73, of Campbellsburg, died on Saturday, May 21, 2011.  She was the daughter of the late Joe J. Hawkins and Mary Hopkins Hawkins. 

 

She is survived by two children: Mark C. Louden, Crestwood and Lisa Coots, Campbellsburg.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24th , at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg.  Rev. Doug Boyd officiated.  Interment was in the Port Royal Cemetery.

Shirley Louden

 

Shirley Anne Roberts Louden, 72, of Smithfield, died Sunday, June 29, 2008.  She was a homemaker and previously worked in clerical positions for Commonwealth Insurance, Oldham County Water District and the Henry County Extension Office.  She was a member of the Westport Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband: Frank Louden, Smithfield; one son: Scott Louden and wife, Jan, Jeffersonville, IN; two daughters: Julie Wolf and husband, Jeff and Mary H. Louden, all of Smithfield; one sister: Doris LaFollette, Eminence; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Dale Louden and daughter, Shelly Louden.

 

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3rd at Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home, LaGrange.  Rev. Rick Davidson officiated.  Interment was in the Valley of Rest Cemetery, LaGrange.

Melissa Mansfield

 

Melissa Eggen Mansfield, 36, of Waddy, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in Louisville.  She attended Waddy Christian Church, was a graduate of Shelby County High School in 1989, attended  Eastern Kentucky University as a Presidential Scholar as an English major and continued to be active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as she went on to the university of Kentucky for her Masters.  She was very active in youth ministry and women�s Bible study.

 

She is survived by her husband: Rev. Aaron John Mansfield; two sons: Joseph Aaron and John Owen Mansfield; her parents: Bill and Connie Eggen, all of Waddy; one brother: Brandon Stewart Eggen, Frankfort: and grandparents: Bobbie and Owen Powell, New Castle.  She was preceded in death by grandparents, James W. and Anna Ruth Eggen.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19th at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.  Interment was in the Bagdad Cemetery.  Shannon Funeral Home, Shelbyville, was in charge of arrangements.

Josephine MaGruder

 

Josephine Roberts MaGruder, 93, of Pleasureville, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle.  She was the daughter of the late Ora Lee and Rachel Elizabeth Casey Roberts, a member of the Pleasureville Baptist Church and a former teller with the Deposit Bank and a homemaker.

 

She is survived by two sons: George Travis MaGruder, Jr. and wife, Nancy, Versailles and Kenneth MaGruder and wife, Kathy, Pleasureville; one sister: Ora Elizabeth Barton, Taylorsville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George Travis MaGruder, Sr.; four sisters: Madeline Hunt, Sadie Byers, Catherine Long and Edna Margaret Roberts and one brother: Orva Lee �Bubby� Roberts.

 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 10th at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jacky Newton, Pastor of the Franklinton Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Howard Lee Byers.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Pearl Mahoney

 

Pearl Lee Chesser Mahoney, 68, of Smithfield, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.  She was a certified medication tech at Cedar Lake Lodge and a member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church.  She was the daughter of the late Lacie and Sallie Brown Chesser.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Tina Goodlet and husband, Thomas, Eminence and Jacqueline Mahoney, Smithfield; tow sons: Dean D. Mahoney and wife, Anita and Gary Mahoney, both of Pleasureville; one sister: Frances Ernspiker, Pewee Valley; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10th at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Smithfield.  Rev. Arvill Duncan officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Margaret Marcum

 

Margaret Joyce Evans Marcum, 82, of Louisville, formerly of Henry County, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the Christian Health Center in Louisville.  She was the daughter of the late Paul Stalker and Mary Belle Black Evans, a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and a computer operator.

 

She is survived by her son: David Wayne Marcum, Lexington; one daughter: Patsy Joyce Nicholson, Louisville; four brothers: Paul Evans, Georgetown, Wayne Evans, Shelbyville, Jimmy Evans, Mt. Eden and Kenney Evans, Turners Station; three sisters: Nancy Gribbons, Owensboro, Mary Figg, Shelbyville and Eunice Montfort, Versailles; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Gayle Evans and one sister: Peggy McWhorter.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2nd, at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Jerry Summerfield, Pastor of the Walnut Street Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Robert Marsee

 

Robert Elliston Marsee, 55, of Orlando, FL, died Wednesday, July 26, 1995 at the Orlando Regional Medical Center.  He was a native of Henry County, formerly of New Castle, a retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major with 26 years of service and attended Windmere Baptist Church, Windmere, FL.

 

He is survived by his wife: Vicky Wilson Marsee, Orlando, FL; one daughter: Michelle (Robert) Montgomery, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and three brothers: Jack Marsee, LaGrange and William O. Marsee and Donald G. Marsee, both of New Castle.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Denise Marsee.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29th, at the Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Michael Duncan, Pastor of the Eminence Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Carrie Marshall

 

Carrie G. Marshall, 86, of New Castle, died Saturday, November 21, 1987 at the Tri-County Hospital, LaGrange.  She was a native of Scott County, a retired clerk at Holland Pharmacy, New Castle for 30 years, and a member of the First Baptist Church, New Castle. 

 

She is survived by two sons: William J. Marshall, Milton, and J. R. Marshall, North Vernon, IN; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 23rd at the Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.  Rev. Jim Sommerville, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of New Castle, officiated.  Interment was in the New Castle Cemetery.

Mike Marshall

 

Mike Marshall, 65, of Lockport, died Friday, December 19, 2008, at his residence.  He was born in Lancaster, son of the late William Anderson and Annadell Ray Marshall.  He was an electrical engineer for Kentucky Utilities in Lexington and a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

 

He is survived by his wife: Shirley Carter Marshall, Lockport; one son: Michael �Brandon� Marshall and his wife, Brittany,, Eminence; one daughter: Gretchen Denise Marshall, Frankfort; three brothers: Larry Marshall, Lockport, Cecil and Greg Marshall, both of Owenton; two sisters: Mona Price, Jonesville and Beverly Abbott, Owenton; one grandson and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Randy Marshall and one sister, Judy Marshall.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23rd at Sholar Funeral Home, Pleasureville.  Rev. Paul Briscoe, Pastor of the Lockport Baptist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasureville Cemetery.

Bonnie Martin

 

Bonnie B. Martin, 71, of Eminence, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Opal Bainbridge, Maryland.

 

She is survived by her sister: Martha A. Clark, Campbellsburg; two brothers: Dennis Bainbridge, Campbellsburg and Jerry Bainbridge, Joppa, Maryland and several nieces and nephews.

 

Crematory services were provided and she was returned to Ft. Myers, FL for burial.

Sara McGaughey

 

Sara �Elizabeth� Reed McGaughey, 87, of Pleasureville, died Monday, November 13, 2006, at Jewish Hospital, Shelbyville.  She was a Member of the Eminence United Methodist Church.

 

She is survived by three daughters: Glenna Braden (Hillis), Turners Station, Bonnie Ethington (Wayne), Pleasureville, and Connie Nickell (Rayburn), Flemingsburg; one son: Ronald McGaughey, Port Royal; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenda H. McGaughey, two sisters and five brothers.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16th, at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.  Rev. Garry Polston, Pastor of the Eminence United Methodist Church, officiated.  Interment was in the Defoe Cemetery.

E. O�Nan

 

E. O�Nan, 87, who had been ill at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Lee, Gest, for nearly a year, died Friday, December 24, 1943.  He was a faithful member of the Gest Methodist Church for forty years, always concerned over its welfare.

 

He is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Jennie LeCompte, Mrs. Carrie Ruth, Mrs. Bertha Oliver, Mrs. Nora Willis and Mrs. Lee; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
